[Q] Currents lagging on 4.3 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed the stock 4.3 image yesterday and, after 1 day of usage, realized that Google Currents was lagging more than usual. By that I mean swiping left right to change providers was choppy, scrolling was unresponsive and it just felt much, much slower than 4.2.2 overall.
Also, I experienced some lag sometimes when i pull down the notification shade which was also not present on 4.2.2. Just wanna know if anyone else is experiencing the same problems? From my experiences so far 4.3 seems kinda disappointing.

Just tested currents and notification menu...no lag. 4.3 is amazing for me.

What bugs?
Screen flickering ,random lags when accessing settings or apps.

I've seen none of those problems at all. No screen flickering, no lag, nothing.

Got a source for the upcoming update?

Chrome seems laggier than it should be, hope there is some issue there than can be fixed to improve performance.
Every Nexus 7 I've had so far (that'd be 4) have all had washed out looking greens and yellows and over saturated whites. Hoping that is something a patch can fix.
Tegra 3's Prism smart dimmer feature causes the screen to look over exposed while and after videos play (fades away after a few seconds). I've disabled the smart dimmer, so it's okay for me, but seems like an issue that needs a patch.
I have seen nothing in JB 4.1.1 that would require an update at this point.
Might as well expect an update for dark pixels.

Screen flickering is a known hardware issue
Mine lags bad from time to time. I wonder if it has to do with google now because my galaxy nexus lags just as bad if not worse when i tap the google now search bar. I was trying to find and app (shazam) and thought it would be faster to look for it through now, but it lagged and lagged and lagged. By the time I got the app open, the song was over and I couldn't tag it.
My Gnexus is great, fast ,no complains at all,Google now is quick I got no lag, but on the nexus 7 it becomes a problem to the point that I have to switch it off and use the browser.

I thought this was in relation to auto brightness?

I use dropbox which is pretty much the same in terms of resources. I have play movies, music, currents, books. I have pandora on there, google now, generally everything you could need. I've done this on both stock 4.1.1 and on Paranoid Android (every iteration). Literally NO lag. Even being slightly underclocked.

Nope, it's from a poorly soldered wifi chip, that is drawing power away from the screen when wifi is low.
I had this issue, and called Google personally for support, and the person confirmed that the screen flickering was hardware, not software.

That's what I thought he meant, but I think he means 4.1.2 to fix any bugs (that I haven't noticed) in 4.1.1

Never had any of that so I doubt its a "software issue". If it is its likely something you installed.
quick update about the lag on the nexus7:
i used Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5.2 to root and install recovery about 4 times ,and in all this times i had problems with lag ,so two days ago i decided to restart again and root the n7 with Galaxy Nexus ToolKit v2.0 but without installing the custom recovery.
now it very quick and as no lag at all,and yes i loaded the identical apps all the previous time.
ideas???

I think most of the lag is because of a bad app or a setting somewhere. Glad to hear you got it sorted out. I'm just looking forward to the update that fixes the bootloader issues with accessing recovery without the usb cable or using terminal commands/adb/apps.

jellybean 4.2.2 xxumbga changes

Hi all
I noticed I had an update last night so updated via samsung kies
but I do not see any changes on my samsung galaxy s4
can anybody shed some light in any changes.
the only change I see is the about device icon as changed
thank you
Major speed improvements and overall smoothness throughout the whole OS. The camera app opens up faster now especially in third party apps. No purple hue when scrolling. Little to no redraw of the home screen. Overheating has decreased significantly. Here is the best part battery life has improved greatly. Took the device of the charger at 8am and 12am the next day still had 50% battery life. I was shocked lol.

is it just me?

okay ive been seeing a lot of bug reports, systemui crashes on 4.3 roms, even on stock 4.3. if this update was so important and everyone says its better why all the bug reports? im honestly thinking of reverting back to 4.2.2. it seemed a lot more stable. just seeing if anyone has the answer to all these damn bugs.
I haven't experienced any bugs using my Nexus 7 with Android 4.3, both on stock and PA. It may seem that many people are experiencing bugs, but there may also be x times more that do not experience them and simply keep their mouth shut.

Stock rooted 4.3. No issues here.
Try to reflash stock ROM.

Bugs? What bugs? I got 4.3 OTA (I run stock on the 7), rooted it and haven't looked back. I'm currently at 17 days uptime, seems perfectly stable to me.

Is the 4.2 Update worth having?

Ive been browsing through the various note 8 topics and im seeing lots of problems being reported about 4.2.2. Things like Spen inaccuracy, smart dock not working after update, multiwindow problems etc.
Ive just rooted my note on 4.1.2 and i find my note to be quick and reliable, im just thinking is it really worth unrooting my perfectly working note 8 to update and get what seems a worse experience, then have to reroot it seems like alot of faffing about for no real improvement.
What are the new additions in 4.2 that make it worth while? (i have no use for multiuser).

There's also issues with the screen freezing every so often... Well, not really freezing but more like it doesn't recognize touch inputs for 1-3 seconds.
I'd recommend sticking with 4.1.2 til they can fix everything.

If you are happy with your Note then I would suggest staying where you are for now.
Especially if you use the Multimedia Dock. I believe the Spen issue has been or is being corrected in the custom ROMS however Stock ROMS are waiting for an official update.
For me personally, I decided to jump to 4.2.2 since I do not use the Spen and the UI improvements are noticeable enough that I found it hard to go back to 4.1.2 once I got used to them. The Music widget on the lock screen is my most favorite new feature.
Rooting 4.2.2 is exactly the same as 4.1.2 it takes only a minute or two. Good Luck on your decision.

Ah I should've paid closer attention to his signature. The bug exists on the N5110, unsure about the 5100.

S4 keeps freezing on the keyboard and is laggy

Recently my Samsung galaxy S4 keeps freezing on the keyboard and then the phone stops working and freezes for at least 5 seconds before it even responds to anything and is also quite laggy at times too. Anyone else having same/similar issues?
I'm running the latest stock version of Android 4.4.2
