Hello, I have pretty much the same problem, but with two L3. I found and edited said file, but it seems each time I reboot the changes made to the file go back as it was. Of course I have root accessand everything.

it looks nexus one can not find ad hoc. my computer shows it is there, but nothing appears on the nexus one.
some people said
There is a file in /system/etc/wifi called "tiwlan" - maybe we can edit it?
There is a line saying "ADHOC=0"
we can change it to ADHOC=1
Does anyone know how to edit it? I mean which software we should use to edit it?
thanks
I don't even find tiwlan.ini file on my Nexus One. Any help please?
you can use vi (a text editor for linux) to edit tiwlan.ini. but u need to mount system r/w first.
for nexus one, this is the way:

it works well on cyanogenmod rom but there is problems with stock rom.
hi!
in order to test something, i need to replace the build.prop in root/system with a modified one. but trying to delete this file with astro manager displays an error message, and just copying the modified build.prop over the old one doesn't work too (nothing happens).
so my question is: how do you replace such a file?
thanks in advance for your help
are you serious!?!?!?
If the build.prop is located on the Android folder IT HAS TO BE A SYSTEM FILE !!!
if you mod the system files you could break android or the system just won't let you do it, you will need R and W privileges to do that.
edit the system files from your PC or just boot up in to windows mobile.
use some common scene next time.
hope it helps!

Do you use a cyanogen build?
yes and there is already a cyanogen rom posted with the proper build.prop fixed, so you won't have to edit anything, just search for it.

mmmh actually cyanogen made things easy to replace a system file, just copy your file into sdcard/android/root/system and reboot.
thanks for your help / posts. but unfortunately they're not helpful.
yes, i am serious! and yes, of course it's a system file. i know as well that modification might brick android.
there are reasons for modifying this file. some people seem to be able to, e.g. for chaning screen point density or modify the data passthrough.
so, please tell me, how can i edit/modify a system file from pc or windows mobile when its within the data.img-file?
thanks for any tips / hints on this.
use root explorer

Thank you VERY much for your help - I finally got it to work by listening your instructions. It is simply different if you have HD2 and plus CM mod. That figures why it was going back all the time to 180 instead of changing it - because it runs from sd card and that's where it needs to be replaced as well ...
Droid Explorer
Hi,
I got myself an Xperia Arc a few weeks ago and as many others, I'd rather get a pure Gingerbread experience as on my Nexus S or other CM7 devices.
While Blagus is working on a fullfledge CM7 for Arc, I was wondering if anyone had managed to replace the SMS, Dialer and Calendar apps with Google's native ones.
- i unlocked bootloader and rooted the device
- i tried to copy CalendarGoogle.apk from my Nexus S to the Arc but am unable to execute it.
Anyone ?
Did you try to call it Calendar APK and replace it with the older one and change permission? I have not tried this and probably you know the risk of modifing system files and getting into a bootloop?
i have not tried to rename it.
My problem is that once copied to the Arc /system/app, the CalendarGoogle.apk is said to be invalid and no file explorer can open it or use it.

Could you share files so I can try them out.
Thanks
Have you set the permissions after copying the files?
Read for all, Write for Owner, unchecked for everything else.
Hi all:
I was reading the response of skeevy420 in order to fix the PAPREFERENCES problem when you try to select TABLET UI workspace in Paranoid 2.14 for my Defy, but when i was trying this fix, i find another little problem, my properties.conf file is readable only and y can't change the owner by the chown command, so i can't change the permissions. I try this through Terminal Emulator following the intructions but doesn't work. Anybody can tell me how to change the owner & permissions of this file otherwise?
I appreciate a response, sorry for my bad english.
Regards.-
I found a solution for this. ES File Explorer in order to change the permissions of the file, after this, through sshdroid change the owner, select TABLET UI and restart phone. Done.
If anyone have a question, please feel free to ask.
Regards!
Hello, everyone.
I recently become a Sony Xperia Z1 C6903 owner. Phone runs on Android 4.2.2. As I am very fond of this program, iGO, I tried to install it on the new phone. Before doing that, I have modified the ".sys" file to match the resolution of the phone. After installation, I encountered (2) issues:
1. Got this error: "Missing or incomplete folder: /data/data/com.navngo.igo.javaclient/license" Using ES File Explorer" I noticed that the path to my SD card is: "/storage/removable/sdcard1/iGO/" . Based on that, I re-modified the ".sys" file, under "Folders" and replaced "sdcard" with "sdcard1". Now, I see problem nr...
2. The ".sys" file is overridden somehow as, if you open it, you see only lines of "yyyyyyyyy".
Anyone has a solution/input on this?
Thank you!
Buy igo and you won't have problems

I'm not sure whether you used a legal version or no. Hopefully you did. I want to believe that you did.
