[Q] 4G data network does not work - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I flashed a rom before then I switched back to the other rom (which I am sure 4G works fine with this rom). After I did these swapping, 4G data network is no longer working (Only 3G, even I set preferred network to LTE/CDMA). Anyone has this problem before? Is it something wrong with my APN setting? Most of all, I want to fix it!!! Thank you
Solved: I updated prl and profile in a stock ROM, everything works perfectly now.

What ROM were you on when you had working 4g versus only 3g? Have you tried using APN Backup and Restore from Play store to resolve this issue?

I was on a ported ROM with only 3g. I did not do a backup before I flashed that ROM, so the APN app method would not work for my case. I am trying to go back to completely stock to see if I can solve the problem.

Go back to stock and do a Profile update and a PRL update.

Verizon Fascinate Flashed to Metro PCS.

I'm rather new here, I need help with how to put ROM on my Samsung Fascinate from Verizon that has been put on Metro PCS I'm running 2.2.1 Froyo and have a baseband of EB01, I'm also fully rooted. Can anyone help me, #1 get a recovery, #2 flash a ROM onto my phone. It would be very appreciated. Thank you ahead of time for any help.

Yeah, I too used go sms but I would really like to get it working natively .
The EB01 is the only baseband that allows the settings to stick, I flash phones all day. I just haven't tried going from flashed to Custom ROM also, only PAID CDMAWS works. I've tried everything and finally just paid $100 a month for the software. Btw, ty for the ROM's I haven't looked yet, I've done CWM, but never voodoo. If you want my settings I'll gladly post them. Everything on my phone works, talk, text, data web, mms, and metro apps from the handmark site.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
Both of the pages suggested come up as error 404 page not found.
Also even if your phone is fully flashed on the fassy, you must use either stock sms, or, a sms app that allows you to fill the mms settings.
I'll post the settings tomorrow, I'm very tired, long day at work.

That is extremely weird, as the url is correct........... Anyway just go to the android development section and look for evil fascinate rom thread. That has all the instructions you need.

IDK about kernel manager specifically but it shouldn't affect the flash I flashed the PBJ -50 and -100 kernels all the time when I was on EF, I believe EF 3.6 comes stock with the PBJ -50 kernel from imnuts.

Why would [email protected] work? On my APN I have set as [email protected] but aside from that and password, the mcc mnc and mmsc are the same.
So if I flash a kernel it shouldn't, theoretically, mess with my Metro PCS radio flash?

Again I flashed kernels time and time again, never once did it mess with the actual flash. Just in the last week I have flashed the kernel about 9 times moving from roms. So no, but again I never user kenel manager always either Odin or CWM. I work grave so I'm about to go to bed but I'll check the thread when I wake up and thanks for the settings in advanced.
Wait, it says I'll go from cwm, to voodoo, I know nothing about voodoo. Will this ROM work on EB01?

Cm7 no moble data! Please Help!

HELP! I have NO mobile data at all. I've Odin'd EC05,EI22, and EH17. I have followed instructions to the T, and its not like this isnt my umteenth rom install! I flash ANY other rom, with ANY modem, and I have working 3g/1x and wifi
The 3g Icon will pop on and off, and the wifi will crash when trying to toggle on from settings. Also, I have no bars when I should have 3 to 4.
And here is the crazy part, I can make calls just fine!
Wifi was fixed by flashing someones modified CM7 with the wifi fixed, but still no moble data!
Please, someone help me out!
I absolutely love the **** out of this rom, and I really want this as a DD!
Change the thread title. Like now
Edit: saw cm7 thread that you're on cricket. Your apn needs to be backed up prior to flashing this is known issue with aosp roms.

Well, I flashed my buddy's epic (which is on sprint) with CM7 with the wifi fix and that asshole is loving everything!
So, I guess its because I have cricket because I restored my EH17 and backed up the APN and restored once I flashed CM7 again.
This sucks in a major way

cm10 internet problems.

I recently installed cm10 on my new s4 but the 3g speeds are really slow. WiFi is slow too. I saw a forum with the same problem with the HTC one. They said it was a problem with the baseband. Any help would be great because I'm not a huge fan of the stock os even though the internet runs great on it.

You could always try to go to a Touchwiz Rom, update the prl and profile, and then flash back to cm10. I've heard that can speed up data a bit
You also could try flashing the MDL modem with Cm10...that might help as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338919

I don't think updating in the stock rom will have any affect since the internet on the stock rom runs fine. It's only after I install cm10 that the internet starts to bog down.

I did the odin thing and now my stock rom can't use wifi. When I enable it it says an app is trying to get certain permissions and wifi immediately gets disabled. It tells me to reboot the phone and I do so and same problem occurs. I did come to find that when on cm10 the internet does work but the play store and pandora only work on wifi. I get connection errors on 3g with those two apps.
Try to flash a custom kernel or flash a different AOSP ROM.

Not sure why the kernel would affect it. I was trying to find an aokp version that would work for sprint but couldn't find one.
It could help the WiFi issues because when my WiFi wouldn't work I flashed a custom kernel and it would work.

Oh you mean for the stock rom? I don't want to use the stock ROM if I can get the play store and Pandora working on cm10. The stock ROM is saying its a security issue and not just an error with the WiFi so I don't think that would help. The problem started after I installed the modem in Odin.
For both I also recommend checking out that ROM it seems like what you want in a ROM customization, AOSP, and the stabability of CM. Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2312063 if not check the original android development section it is filled with great AOSP roms similar to CM or better.

There is many cases that aosp roms/kernals have slow data speeds. The epic 4g touch was one. All aosp or touchwiz roms with non stock kernal had poor data speeds. This phone may be different. Im running tw rom with kt kernal and data speeds are the same. The prl/profile thing is huge not being able to update it in aosp can cause problems.
I installed pacman ROM and the gapps and Google play immediately stops working and a message pops up every 5 seconds and the internet won't load. I got Google to load once and that was it. I had to switch back to cm10.

T-Mobile LTE

I am interested in enabling T-Mobile LTE on my N4. Does it work smoothly like any other LTE enabled phone? In my research, I've found that there are two different zip files to flash. Which one has worked best for people? It appears that enabling LTE is a simple flash of the zip file. Am I correct? Thanks.
This has been covered thousands of times. But before this thread gets deleted, let me help you out. LTE on tmobile or att works flawlessly.

Do I need to update the radios after every software update or can I just flash once and forget it?
Since this will get deleted anyways, I will ask the stupid question I have. Bone stock 4.4.2 soon to be rooted with TWRP. Can I flash with a stock ROM and still make a wifi hotspot? I see something about needing init.d support or something like that.

Successful MMS and 4G LTE with Cyanogenmod on Sprint S4?

Has anyone with a Sprint Galaxy S4 found a stable combo of any Cyanogenmod build and modem that allows for: 1. Consistently successful MMS sending and receiving AND 2. Stable 4G LTE that hands off well between it and both 3G and WiFi?
In the alternative, any specific tweaks to APN settings to allow for items 1 and 2 above?
If you have found such a successful combination, please post here, and please be as detailed as possible (CM build, baseband version, specific APN settings, etc) , thanks!!!
Cheers,
VegasRooted

I'm on the latest CM11 nightly (1/10/14). 4G works fine for me, but mms is very spotty. It works right after I boot my phone, then it stops working. I don't know why it happens, but I receieve MMS messages right when the phone boots, then it stops working. My modem is MF9. I'm not sure what exactly is causing this problem. Would flashing a new modem help? If so, how would I do it?
Update
Yes, I would recommend that you try flashing the MK2 modem.
All is working well for me now: MMS sending & receiving, good hand-off between 1X, 3G, 4G LTE, and WIFI, etc.
I'm now running the latest CM 11 nightly (1/13/14) with the stock MK2 modem, and I'm using CWM 6.0.4.4 as my recovery.
FYI:
Just for kicks, I went back to the last (stable) version of CM 10 to see if MMS played any better with the MK2 modem (since I would still prefer to stay on CM 10; I just like JB 4.3 better), but unfortunately I encountered the exact same results that had caused me to start this thread in the first place: bad MMS functionality, bad hand-off between 3G, 4G & WIFI. So... I guess on 4.4 (CM 11) I shall remain....
Thanks again to everyone for their contribution(s) to this thread, you all have been very helpful!
Cheers,
VegasRooted

You can get the MK2 Modem from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23252070760974263
The proper MD5 sum for it is: 39b0b32a8ee338543fdaa91ab2774f79
This is a flashable TAR, so you can just use Odin to flash it from download mode.

Thanks for help I flashed the new modem and it didn't do anything. I started apps from startup and discovered that AdBlock Plus blocks mms because it monitors port 80, the same port MMS is sent on. I fixed my problem by uninstalling ABP and I use AdAway as a replacement.
