How to downgrade KF7 HD 7.4.3 to 7.2.3? - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

Hi well i want to install the twrp and 2nd bootloader but im a little bit scare because im in the latest update 7.4.3, and i dont know if i can do this without brick my device,i already read the thread about installing twrp and 2nd bootloader.. and it says that if im not in 7.2.3 the fire flash app is going to show a warning that im not using the right boot.. is there any way to downgrade? or i can move on and take the risk? i would appreciate your help..

When u have that warning in red you just check the box off next to the warning to fix it. If worst comes to worst u will just need a fastboot cable to fix.

[Q] What is the right way to update to 2.3.4?

I have found a lot of information on the forums about updating to 2.3.4 and ending up with a hard brick and am getting a little scared about it. I do think most of the bricks have to do with unlocking the bootloader (at least that's what I understood from the forums).
I currently have a rooted Atrix running 4.1.83. I don't have any other mods installed and I haven't unlocked my bootloader. At this point I just want to update my phone to 4.5.91 and have it be rooted. I don't care about unlocking the bootloader at all.
Which method is best for me? Can I just install the OTA update thru the notification I'm getting on my phone? Or do I need to follow one of the complex processes listed on the forums here. Once again, I don't really need to unlock my bootloader. I just need to be rooted after I update.
Thanks in advance.
if you dont want the bootloader unlocked just OTA..
then root here..

From what I've read ..no. You have to OTA from a clean state ..meaning ..no mods. You may soft brick. Hopefully someone will correct me if im wrong..

I was rooted with webtop mod on 1.83 (no Pudding), and there was no soft brick - the install wouldn't get past verification and never actually modified the system. Rebooting after the failure would bring me right back to the previous state.
I ended up flashing 1.83 SBF, upgrading OTA, rooting, then restoring user apps from Titanium.
YMMV.

It seems, so far anyway, that if you OTA you get a new bootloader that will hard brick you if you try to revert to a previous version. DO NOT flash any sbf files that have a locked bootloader if you OTA! If you start with 4_1.8.3, unlock your bl with pudding, and install a KennethPenn or similar non-OTA based 2.3.4, you keep the original bootloader and can flash back to Froyo.
I have not seen it spelled out this clearly, so I hope this helps someone looking to upgrade. I recommend sticking to non-OTA versions for now.
After OTA update, what happen???
I have my Atrix rooted, and have sideloading. After downloading update (OTA), & start to instal the update, this appear to my screen.
Is this what called "brick"? What should I do now? Flash it?

Could u be more specific, please? I try replace the batery (pull & put it back) & it run again, normaly, with the previous version.
Just want to know why, the file was corrupt or something. So I can prevent on my next try.
Sorry for my bad English. Thank anyway
Why on gods green earth would you ota update and eliminate the possibility of unlocking your bootloader? Just plain dumb if you ask me. Maybe at this point you see no purpose in it but I assure you that down the road you will wish you had not ran the ota. You don't have to worry about bricking your phone if the process is done correctly.

Can anyone guide me through flashing my a500?

Hello guys
So I'm basically a noob when it comes to flashing.
I'm trying to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961469 rom
I've tried so many times trying to install it. even used rom manager and acer recovery installer.
So in bullet points this is where i am:
Acer a500 is rooted
Installed Clockworkmod rev 1.7 by thor2002ro for ICS bootloader(do they mean stock bootloader?) from acer recovery installer.
restarted the tab into recovery, but says recovery verified failed.
I dont know what to do now.
Can anyone please assist, and explain to me in really noob steps what to do now?

I think the link he is referring to is this one.
You might want to follow this tutorial. I used it yesterday to root, unlock bootloader and install a CM10 ROM on my A500.
Good luck.

I had the same issue yesterday using afterota. I tried installing a recovery by using an application from Google Play, but that didn't work. I think windows didn't install the apx driver in time while afterota was working. I retried the process with afterota and it worked the second time.
Hope it helps.

new n7

So I just got a new n7 and im looking to root it. Im new to rooting tablets I hace rooted severl tbolts and am currently waiting on a mathod for the note . But anyway im just wondering witch is the best method to root the n7? It has 4.1.1 on it and keeps asking me to update and just wanna make sure there's a way to root with the new software b4 I update? Like I said I know very lil bout rooting tablets but im sure its not to dif from a phone n sorry for the noob?s and thanks for the help
You can use the nexus 7 toolkit v 3.2.0. It helps you install all the drivers needed. Just use the option number 8 for full rooting and unlock. WARNING Unlocking the bootloader might void your warranty and will wipe all your data. I think this utility is better because it has an easy interface and clear instructions.

its the same thing as rooting phones, just follow the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
its as easy as pressing a button that says unlock and root
Thanks for the replys n does it work for the newer software or should I stay on 4.1.1 to root
It will work with any version. I'd upgrade to 4.1.2 then unlock, root, and flash a rooted 4.2 custom ROM.
The toolkit helps for first timers. Pretty simple process.
Make a backup of all your stuff cause everything will be deleted during the process. I recommend DataSync. It backs up data to Dropbox or Box.net. Does a bunch of other cool stuff.
Getting drivers installed is the big part. After that it just clicks.
I'm using Paranoid Android beta6 cause its 4.2.1 with tablet mode.

Can't install CM10

Specifically Xperia D 3.5.
I have tried everything I can do, but I can't seem to pass the red light. I read the instructions, did everything, still nothing. I found a thread were they had the same problem, but didn't work. If there is anything I can do to make it work, tell me.
If you really did it right it should work.
Let's check again from the start, what model you have, defy mb525/526?
Trys to install from stock or custom roms?
Rooted? CWM (2ndinit) installed correctly?
Custom rom's zip file downloaded completely without file corruption?
Wiped correctly as instructed?
There must be something wrong in your way, just recheck everything and try again.
Make sure that you have at least bl6 before flashing CM10. I have seen many users failing to install cm10 because of this.

Maybe not, my MB525's based on 2.2.2 froyo build 3.4.3(BL4) and using CM10 2ndboot without problem.
It could be any other point.
Hi,
I am exactly in the same situation, and I posted HERE, where the problem has already been mentionned. Maybe we can mutualize our experiences.
Cheers
I went to the beginners guide for help. I put in the CG5 SBF file from the Chinese Defy. I don't think it would work to put in CM10. It is Eclair.

OK so bl5 is the one to blame if you have problems upgrading to cm10. Like 'intemptesta' mentioned we're missing more info about the model of your device i.e. mb525/526 red or green lens. See this approach for mb525 red lens.
I have MB525 red lens. Just flashed the Chinese ROM. All I need to do is root it. I just do what the linked thread tells me?

Did you wait about 10~20 minutes? because this ROM take a long on the first boot

Sure, you can follow that AIO guide. It's a good thread if you want to get your defy back to life, but it doesn't tell you what to do if you want to successfully install cm10. My guess is that cm10 simply won't work because of that bl5 and I saw this many times before. If you follow that link from my previous post and this link you'll see what I'm talking about.
Thanks! All of y'all have been a great help!

Is there anything I should know before having my Kindle Fire HD 7 rooted?

Okay so..last night I rooted my Kindle Fire HD 7 following the root guide I have below and I installed the Google Play store as well following a separate guide listed below as well. I want to install a custom rom of android on my device I'm guessing jelly bean and am going to pay someone to do it for me on Craigs List..Simply because I'm afraid of bricking my device myself and would rather have someone do it who knows what they are doing.

You should learn the fastboot and flashing stuff for yourself, if a guy from Craigslist does it and you run into issues or want to change ROMs.. Well.. Good luck
Just read thoroughly and pay attention and you won't brick. Rooting cannot brick, and as long as you get files from KFHD7 development only you will be fine. Hashcodes thread goes into great detail and provides everything. Just have a ROM ready to flash before flashing custom recovery because stock won't boot.

Thanks for bringing that up, I did not think about that if I run into problems..Perhaps I shouldn't get a custom rom put onto it. I managed to root it myself last night and get the google play store on it and flash player as well on my own.
I'm just afraid of putting a custom rom on it because I don't want to brick it then have to wait for a cable to be ordered for me to even try unbricking it..I guess I will just be happy with my google play store and flash player!
How much is that guy charging? They have this tool for $20 that installs CM:
Link
Note: I have not tried it! They look to have good reviews and things however.

It's not hard at all, man.
If you have a reasonable knowledge about Command Prompt, you'll be fine.
But one thing I would definitely do first is buying a Fastboot cable. Got one from eBay for a couple of bucks.

It's not that hard. Follow this tutorial and you should have no problem. I managed to install CM 10.1 on my KFHD7" within an hour(thanks to my slow internet speed) without needing a factory cable.
