Hi everyone. .
What's the easiest way to go back to an OEM ROM? I rooted my S4 and flashed several different ROMs ( which were awesome) but none let me encrypt my phone. I need to encrypt it so that I can access my work email. Ive decided to try and go back to stock and just root the stock ROM so I can delete all the sprint bloat and just be happy for now. Any thought on the easiest way to accomplish this? Im using TWRP recivery
Appreciate all the help!

Everything you need is in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277480
Have you tried just flashing the stock rooted MDL rom from recovery? This is the fastest way to go back to stock rooted. The link to crawrj's stock rooted MDL rom is in that post as well. If that doesn't do it for some reason (not sure why it wouldn't) about your only choice then is to Odin back to stock.
Boom. Worked perfectly. I just flashed stock rooted MDL rom from recovery and rebooted a couple of times and it let me encrypt! I don't know why the first time I flashed it, it wouldn't let me encrypt. Weird.

I'm a newbie when it comes to the flashing stuff as well, but since nobody else has replied I'm curious.
1) Can you still put your phone into download mode? (should be able to).
and if so:
2) Can you flash CWM back onto your phone using ODIN ?
What phone do you have? Verizon or Telus Fascinate?

You're going to want to use SBF. Search for it on these forums. Bascially it will take you back to stock with no root and format memory. It may seem a bit complicated to some, but it is really easy.
I agree with cstrife. SBF'ing is not very hard to do and it will get you back to 100% stock. I've done it several times myself. Just make sure you get the correct system version
There was an app I wanted that wouldnt work on a rooted phone,so I decided to go back to stock from a custom ROM.
All went well. I wasnt looking forward to having to set the phone up how I wanted, but hey ho! what can you do?
Anyway, all went well, but was surprised that my phone was exactly as it was before. All apps (including root apps, which obviously dont work), launcher as it was.
I thought when using Odin it completely wiped the phone?
Stock rom is nowipe
Must make all wipes before because stock rom is nowipe.
Hi everyone,
Yesterday I flashed CF auto root to my Samsung S4 i9505 and it worked just fine. Then I tried to give root permissions to a launcher I like to use and the phone just rebooted and it's now stuck on the samsung animated logo. The led light is blue but it's not blinking or anything.
I've tried taking the battery off then going into recovery and wiping both data and cache, but I'm still stuck.. I'm using the stock 5.0.1 lollipop and I had never messed with the phone using Odin before. I only flashed CF auto root.
I'm thinking I should maybe flash a stock rom or something, but I just wanted to check if anyone knows what to do before I break it even more.
Any help is appreciated!
Flashing a stock ROM is not a bad idea. It will restore your phone to working condition, and then you can flash CF-Autoroot again. Potentially silly question here, but why did you need to give root permissions to a launcher?

It has some extra features only available with root. This is the launcher https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amigo.navi&hl=en
I decided to try alternative roms and now I have MIUI7 5.10.16 installed, which I love, but the gapps are broken and so far I haven't found a workaround for it..
Anyway, thanks for the help! If I got MIUI7 to boot I'm pretty sure I could have flashed a stock ROM to get rid of that problem too.
I would be a little bit leery. Based on my experience, a launcher shouldn't need root access to do its job. Right now I'm running Nova on my S4 and it has never needed root to do anything.
Install a GApps package from OpenGApps and see if that helps resolve your Google apps problems.

Funny you should mention OpenGApps, I'm actually trying that right now haha. Thanks again.
hey all, I could use a little help on my phone. I tried to root it and I am stuck I have been using my old evo3d since it came out, and just picked up an HTC 10, so I am rusty on rooting and other things.
Anyway, I unlocked the bootloader on the HTC10 via htcdev,
installed twrp
flashed supersu (this where where the issue started)
so basically I thought I was rooted, did a root checker app and it said I wasn't.
I went to reflash supersu.zip and wiped everything again, but actually wiped EVERYTHING, no OS on my phone now.
Anyway, I am now asking for help. I am S-on right now, can get in to recovery, but just don't want to screw it up more. So could use a few tips. I am thinking about flashing the bad boy rom, but am wondering if I need to be s-off or anything like that? or can I just put the zip on my sd card and flash?
Thanks,
did you flash the modified su

I did use that one when I did it. It didn't seem to work, (a couple apps said that there wasn't root) so in the process of trying again, I am pretty sure I wiped EVERYTHING on the phone. Literally no android on it at all I think. I can get in to htc download and in to twrp recovery, but nothing else. So at this point, I need to figure out how to flash either a custom rom, or a stock, or what ever just to get my phone back. Thanks for any help
I do know that it does require you to format data because of encryption.

Just put the ROM.zip on the sdcard and flash, ROM is already rooted, no S-off required
Thanks for the help, I think I got it figured out. Reinstalled supersu and then flashed the badboyz rom, seems to be working as we speak, so hopefully got it all worked out.

Remember that pretty much all your custom ROMs come rooted. No need to root the stock ROM unless you plan to stay stock.
Way too many times I see people having trouble or run into problems trying to root, when all they want to do is install a custom ROM.
