Nexus4 virtual key dosent work - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

this problem came out after I reboot my nexus this afternoon ..
ok , firstly I have to say that I hided the original virtual key and install another one to trigger the virtual key from the screen edge for long times
I used it for half years and it worked fine , but today after I reboot my phone , i could not trigger the virtual menu anymore from edge touching ,I dont know if any update of other software have conflict with it .
then I uninstall it and showed back the google original virtual key again , but sadly, the button dosent work after they appeared again !!
the bottom touch screen actually can work , if I rotate the screen , the virtual key will show on the top of the screen and work normally , also the bottom screen can be touched . but once I rotate the phone back normally , the virtual key goes back to bottom part again , then it totally dosent work .
i also tried to flashed the google original factory rom , but the problem still there , I cant understand how this kind of problem still being there even I flashed the official rom .
any one meet this same problem ? and can you tell me how to solve it ..
thanks
if I press the bottom part longer , actually I can call google search out ,which means the bottom part screen is ok . so I

[T] Strange screen issues with on/off

Hello everyone , so after changing the screen on MTTC ( in Lithuania it's official all carrers warrantly repair service ) my phone screen has some troubles about a month now. Now I am using Pardus Classic 7.4 ROM with Dorimanx 5.5 kernel on my D802.
So I want to desribe the problem.
Knock Code code is working just on power button waked on ( not when the screen is black )
When I want to wake up the device with the back button ( the only way to turn on the device , becouse i am using kernel with knock code ) the screen goes imediatly off after pressing , i cant even touch it.
With other lockcreens like swap i can turn the screen fast and unlock it , but the the screen is gettin black ( like turning it off ) and to get it working , i need to press the button like 5 times to wake up screen normaly. So what could be the problem?
The second problem , screen gets black when i answer / are calling someone , so the only way to turn of the device press power on + volume down button for 10 seconds , the screen goes normal , when the caller from other side is ending the call .
P.S Tried Mahdi rom , the phone runs normally , but with stock moded roms that has 4.4.2 it has the problems , with 4.2.2 roms the problems isint apearing.
If needed , i could make a video showing the problem.
Some updates I found a strange way to make the device turn good for first time when i want to unlock it , pressing volume up + unlock button at the same time.
UP .
Tried to install 4.2.2 KDZ . The problem still exist

Up .. Help please

Hi Galaxy ,screenwakeup and OK Google.......how to

Hi ,
This method i am currently using to wake my phone without pressing power button !!
( plus , if you want to carry on to use OK Google. commands )
Maybe similar to LG knock to wake ????
Firstly ,i know this method is similar to S voice wake up etc , etc but with a twist .?
I have disabled S voice in my Application manager (but "voice wake up " is not ,and app is running in App manager )
I also have a swipe lock screen to unlock activated ( im sure no lock screen will also work .)
If device is in sleep mode i issue similar command ( than S voice ).....
." Hi Galaxy " the phone will wake up ( no S voice activating ,as disabled )
I can then again issue another command OK Google ........etc if i want to !
The reason i follow this routine is firstly,
i don't need to press power button each time
especially, if i just want to check info on my lock screen etc ..
I also found that my OK Google ,
does not activated when in sleep mode ,but if phone is awake OK Google works fine .
Yes, OK Google used to ,but im sure Google has disabled it as it was disabled ( always listening )
on pc/laptop You have to press mic button to activate.
I have tested battery usage overnight ( re battery drain )
and found it had no impact on my nightly /sleep battery drain .
This info for any member interested in using this method to wake his device .
Please note,
obviously if you are in noisy environment ,this method is not going to work
good luck to all .
guys, may try download "wakeup touch Nexus" from play store. use proximity sensor to wake the phone simple and easy.
No offence OP but I don't quite understand that. Might want to simplify it a bit?

hi ,
sorry ,if its confusing, i will try .
ok, if you want to wake up your device................( its in sleep mode )
eg... check info on lock screen .?,
check the clock alarm
anything or just go to the home screen ?
What do you do ...?
You press the power button to wake .?
Yes ( normal action )
Ok , in my case,
what i do , to wake my device...... Note5 ( stock ROM, no root )
is by just saying /issue a command "Hi Galaxy "
My screen will wake up ( and no S Voice activating etc. etc )
and i can then proceed with "whatever" check lock screen info or go to home page .
( no power button press , involved )
Above is similar when you want to activate S Voice, but just after configuring S Voice ( Configuring your voice ,Hi GALAXY ETC )and when S Voice is activated , it will obviously trigger the Voice wake up app and then reboot your device . I then disabled only S Voice app ,in Phone/Settings /Application manager .Just make sure your your other depended app /process
"Voice wake up" is running or not disable in your Application manager .( see screenshot )
That's it ,to me this method is similar to Lg "knock ,to wake " etc .and others ?
A voice command surely, is a bit easier than a action/gesture ?
Real life situation .......
So you can sit in a chair ,with your phone lying next to you on table and just say "Hi Galaxy" ,
your phone will light up ( no S Voice irritating you by activating itself ..disabled )
You can glance at info ,to read notification ,time, etc or just pick device up and proceed .
I have configured my device to wake up in this way for a couple of days now .
I have observed the following ....
99% of time it lights up /wakes up ( no button press )
No extra battery drainage noticed .
I even tested it in quite noisy surroundings ,works fine (most of times )
I used it next to my vehicle ,with engine revving quite loudly ).
I still press power button now and then by accident, but above method is very convenient .
hope you followed above .
good luck

Capacitive buttons not working

Hi, I was using AICP for the last days, and it was working great. But today my phone went haywire and the capacitive buttons stopped working. I flashed RR 5.8.0 and they remained not working, and are still not working after I fastboot'ed back to MIUI 8 Lollipop. They're gone for good or maybe there is something I can do?

ummm , well I didn't exactly understood the meaning of captive button , but
If it means :
1. buttons for back and home , you may use either quickball or foo view app from play store to perform the same function as these apps .
2. power button and volume button , volume may be controlled via settings > sounds and vibrations . No idea about power button.
Hope it works coz if you visit service centre , they will ask you to change motherboard worth 4-5k .

Thanks for the advice, and you're right, the capacitive buttons are the menu, home and back buttons, down in the front. I installed a pie control app that I found here at XDA, and it works pretty great, but takes some time to get used to it. If its possible to repair the buttons, without changing any hardware because I'm broke as hell right now, I would like that.
Is it in warranty?
If not get a screwdriver. And open your device. Remove and connect the plugs in board.
Search YouTube for redmi2 teardown follow the video only if you think you can do it.
Hope their might be any loose connection or something may be doing this can fix but there is a very less chances of success
