I have a Nook Color, obviously, and I want to make it a stock Android tablet. Can someone please show me the steps to do this? There's a lot of stuff going on here and it's hard to know as a noobie.
Edit: I have 1.4.3 software version.

Hello everyone,
I have been on this site for sometime, always reading and waiting to be able to take the plunge into all the fun.
I am a Bell subscriber, and have enjoyed my phone till this point, but now I would like to be able to get everything back to normal.
A couple months back, I messed up my Atrix and decided to flash the following sbf file onto it, 4.2.11.MB860.Retail.en.FR.
It has been running good since then.
Now I want to be able to get back to the Bell software and be able to take the OTA updates, and have my car dock working again.
I have read until I am blue in the face, and there is so much jumping around from thread to thread, I am really lost when it comes to start this.
My phone is currently rooted using Gingerbreak 1.20, I have backed up everything, and am willing to do anything to this phone to accomplish this. I am not to worried about it, as I have purchased the extended warranty on it, so I hope I am covered.
My questions are:
Do I need to unlock my phone to proceed to the next step?
if so, I use ihop-bell?
I install CWM, I currently use the one with Rom-Manager
I download the Bell 2.2.2. Gobstopper? Install it?
I have the current version of RSD lite installed on my computer
then I ????? this is where I get lost again.
I know some of you are saying read the steps posted, but it seems they all lead to different pages and I kinda got lost in the process. Would someone point me to a step-by-step that could help me please?
Sorry for inconveniencing any of you, but it is greatly appreciated
Thank you
Fred
I've been focused on the new NT forums here since I got mine, but I couldn't pass up the Black Friday deal on the Touch. So now that I have one of those and it's charging up, what are they key steps to a clean root? It seems there's more than one thread here regarding rooting on the Touch. I'm not sure of which one is the latest / best.
Also, what's the best way to create a backup image?
Good start.
For backup use this link (1st post for linux, OSX and 2nd post for Windows).
Once you have backed up, you can update to either 1.0.1 (to root this one you can search for touchnooter 1.6.24, which makes it quite easy) or go for 1.1.0 (rooting this one has no automatic tool, so you probably will have to do it by hand, piece by piece, so lots of patience and some command skills are required - I guess that in a couple of weeks our fellows XDA devs may come up with something, as they are well ahead on knowing what the problems are).
Thanks apeine. Do you think it's worth just waiting for 1.1.0 to be packaged up a bit better?
Also, is CM7 possible on the Touch?
If you are not in a hurry to have it rooted, I'd recommend to wait for a more complete solution. If you are in a hurry, you can try 1.0.1 update and touchnooter 1.6.24 or the piece by piece 1.1.0 root (you can follow eded's excellent tuto on that).
There are a few devs that are trying something on CM7, but nothing out of the box. Maybe next year we might have something.
Total noob here, but learning fast. Hit a "brick" wall:
I just picked up a Nook tablet today from BB, 8GB. I tried rolling back to 1.4.0 with this process (I know I shouldn't have, but couldn't find the alternative) http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1402190.html
Now its bricked, no sign of power, nothing. So I want to try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470910&page=12
But the download link, or others, will not work.
Does anyone have a solution for me please? Much gratitude.
Do you have a Nook Color or Tablet? If it's the Color try to set up a SD boot card. For the tablet check http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1508.
OK, here's my Beavis and Butthead moment for the week:
I finally got around to running / booting cm10-121208_acclaim_sd_hd.img from my flash card a couple of nights ago. Once I got it up and running I was looking around through the available programs on it and ended up running a flash upgrade utility on it that went out to the internet and downloaded some "upgrade". It asked me if I knew for sure what I was doing and like an idiot I hit YES. Now the touchscreen doesn't work at all. I've tried running / installing all kinds of things like :
bn_142_factory_recovery.zip
cm10_121208_acclaim_sd_hd.zip
cm-10-20121219-NIGHTLY-encore.zip
They all seem to run from SD OK but still no touchscreen function.
My new Nook specifics WERE : model number BNTV250 software version 1.4.3 when I got it a few days ago.
Is anyone here familiar enough with cm10-121208_acclaim_sd_hd.img who can tell me what flash utilities are on it? Or maybe tell me how to fix my Nook if possible?
Any help greatly appreciated.
You have a Nook Tablet. This is the Nook Color forum. There is a specific forum for the Nook Tablet. You'll get better help there.

Sorry, thanks for the info.
So I have a Nook Simple Touch tablet. My dad tried to root it but either bricked it or something else. It is flashing at where it says "Nook by Barnes & Noble" and it keeps flashing between the first two dots of the five and does that non stop. If somebody could tell me what that means and how I can fix it in Lame Mans terms because this is my first experience with a Nook. Thank You

The easiest way?
Use method 2.
http://nookdevs.com/Nook_Simple_Touch_restore_to_stock
This will format your nook and restore it to stock image. All data will be lost but your nook should get better.
After the procedure check what firmware version you have installed and if it's not 1.2.1 upgrade it using instructions on B&N site.
Thanks I will try this when I get home.
