I have a flipside that I rooted and removed the bloat on. I installed thed Xperia Arc launcher and it is awesome. I removed the Live Wallpaper picker and at some point I acidentally deleted the backup to it I made with Titanium Backup. Can anyone back this up and upload the file so I can restore it to my flipside? There are some Xperia live wallpapers I would like to try that use the XMB wave (I love my PSP and PS3 and It would be cool to have on my phone) Thanks

Ok wow about 25 minutes later I figured it out again.....
You need this.
1. moto android depacker
2. unyaffs for windows
Step 1. - launch moto android depacker
2. Menu > Open From File > choose your .SBF rom file
3. Menu > Split to Folder
4. Put unyaffs and cygwin1.dll in the Folder that has now been created in windows explorer by the last Split to Folder action
5. Also inside that new folder (named like your SBF file automatically) you will see a bunch of .SMG files.
6. Take note of the .SMG filename with the largest amount of data. One will be significantly bigger than the others. This is where all your .apk's are stored.
7. Open command prompt
8. navigate to the location of this Folder with unyaffs, cygwin1.dll, and the other .smg files
9. Once you command prompt is inside that folder type: unyaffs <filename.smg>
10. For me the .SMG file that was the biggest was CG39.smg
11. You will then see that folder filling up with a bunch more folders as it extracts
12. One of the Folders will be "app"
12. Go into that folder and you will see all of you ROM .apk's Each apk is an app, that you can now manually install or remove to rebuild a customized image, etc.

have a recently rooted nexus 4.2.2 and did a nandroid backup using clockwork recovery. clockwork stored it into a directory which i can't access by just plugging my phone to the usb cable of my pc. i do see folders, but not that particular folder. i have usb debugging option turned on also. i just wanted to transfer the backup files to my pc for storage. is there a way to do this? thank you.

You can't see it because windows can't access those folders. You can either move the backups using a file explorer to a folder windows can access, pull the files using ABD or if you have the paid version of ROM Manager you can download the files to your pc using a browser.
I figured it was something of that nature. However I have downloaded different file explorers including the es file explorer and I still can't see the folders on my phone even, not just pc. But when I boot into clockwork recovery and browse through there I can see those folders. I'm at a loss.

With ES File Explorer I had to turn on the root explorer option in the settings, the world and phone icon at the top left..

yes, i did that as well, but it still doesn't let me see the directories that i see in clockwork. the directories i'm talking about are in /sdcard.. they are
- 0/
- clockworkmod/
- legacy/
- obb/
the only ones i can see are 0/ and legacy/. if i go to 0/ i can see what i normally see in the pc windows explorer. there is also a folder called clockworkmod/ but it only contains the folder called download/ and a couple of files under 100kb.
also, when i'm viewing the folders in ES file manager the sdcard folder has a little shortcut arrow on it instead of a solid folder like most of the other ones.
I can't speak for the intricacies of Clockworkmod as I have never used it, but after doing either a TWRP backup or a Titanium backup on 4.2.2, I have always been able to copy and/or view these backup files using any of the following methods, as well as verifying that they are equivalent (Same exact number of files, same exact file sizes):
1) Copying the files from the Nexus 4 to Windows 7 64 bit Professional using Microsoft Windows Explorer.
2) Copying the files from the Nexus 4 to Windows 7 64 bit Professional by performing an "adb pull".
3) Viewing the files with the Android ES Explorer app (With the "Root Explorer" option turned on and changing the top directory to root or "/").
4) Viewing the files in TWRP.
I also use the full path to the files (when possible). As I recall, there were instances where not all the files were visible if I didn't use the full path. Replacing /0 with /legacy on Android 4.2:
TWRP BACKUP
/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/<PHONE SERIAL# HERE>/<FILE BACKUP SUBDIRECTORY HERE>/
TITIANIUM BACKUP

the thing is i can't see the directories that the files are in. either in file explorer or in windows. i need to get more familiar with adb and maybe do it through that, but its strange because i should be able to see them in the explorer. so essentially i have a nandroid backup on my phone that i can't really access to move it or delete it. i can only access it through clockwork recovery. also, all the stuff i used is the latest versions i.e. sdk, drivers, etc.
Then I am at a loss if you tried all the things mentioned. If it is a permission issue, then adb should bypass that problem. The adb executable is located in the platform-tools subdirectory of the SDK. You run the "adb pull" command from a "Command Prompt" window while located in that directory. The nandroid copy will take quite a while, so wait until it is finished (For example, my latest one was 330 MB in size).
While the phone is in recovery, here are some examples of grabbing the TWRP and TITANIUM backup files and putting them into the directories TWRP_BACKUP and TITANIUM_BACKUP respectively (That I previously created) on the windows "C" drive. As before, you would probably be replacing /legacy for /0:
adb pull /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/<PUT SERIAL # OF PHONE HERE>/<PUT DATE OF BACKUP HERE>/ C:\TWRP_BACKUP\

Clockworkmod puts the backups in a secure system folder with the path mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup. In ES File Explorer hit the "/" at the top which will open up "device" and now you will see all of your system folders. Root Explorer is a simpler app to use as it only has two directory options, root and storage. I bought both apps a long time ago as I liked that ES File Explorer lets you connect to a lan to upload/download files through wifi.

i have root explorer that i purchased a couple years ago as well. doesn't show me the path you mention. neither does the ES File Explorer. this is why it puzzles me since my phone is rooted. when i look in ES File Explorer and choose "/" as my starting point, i do see all the folders, however, the clockworkmod folder doesn't contain the "backup" folder. it has only "download" folder and a couple of files ".recovery_version" and ".settings".. nothing else.

I posted picks of the folders in ES File Explorer. In the clockworkmod folder I have 2 subfolders, download and backup.

I looked in su and I have three apps listed there: root explorer, titanium backup, and es file explorer. I don't see those folders that you have in your screenshots. What app do you use for that? I'll take a screenshot of what I have.
Edit: I reinstalled the file explorer and rebooted the phone and I can see the mnt directory now. Don't know why it wasn't showing up. Thank you for the help.

Glad you got it worked out. To take screen shots press and hold the power button and volume down at the same time. My photos automatically upload to dropbox and I just attached them from there to my post.

Happened to me aswell
all you need to do is go into your file browser on your phone and then move the file somewhere else while still connected to the pc.. should be good then
Guys, after to my surprise, being prompted by my xperia-sp that i had only owned for about a month! that i couldn't install an app i wanted to install, because i had run out of space!, i decided to investigate where all my 5,800mb user available space had gone, and i was eventually able to claw back approx 2GB by deleting in my opinion useless files from my internal drive.
I thought it will be a good idea to share my findings for those who like me didnt know about the listed below.
Below are the main culprits
1. /mnt/sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails = >182mb
(sony/android system running bloatware - a solution =
delete '/mnt/sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails' folder, then create a file named '.thumbnails' (obviously without the quotes) and then move to'/mnt/sdcard/DCIM/' folder, this solution found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2416688 ,so credits to the original poster.)
2. /sdcard/App_Manager/App_Backups = >745mb !!!
(created by ROM Toolbox app - see here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350751 , credits to the original poster.)
3. /sdcard/MyAppSharer = >100mb
(created by MyAppSharer app)
4. /sdcard/bluetooth = >600mb
(created as you receive files via bluetooth)
5. /sdcard/demovideo = 90mb
(sony demo video bloatware, i personally just moved them to my external sd, as they are somewhat funny/interesting vids.)
6. /mnt/sdcard/video/xperia_hd_landscapes.mp4 = 41mb
(another sony demo video bloatware).

* the above spaced used/saved are for my xperia-sp, your own 'real estates' may be different, depending if you use you the apps that create some of these folders & files or how long you've been using your xperia-sp for.
* also removing these extraneous files will also reduce the size of your nandroid backups, which can only be a good thing.

Recently I found something that help me a save more space in my SP. For Tapatalk users, go to SD00/Tapatalk4/Sessions/remote-cache. Delete all files. For me save +- 900 mb of temporary files. I hope that help.

Try to use an app called Link2SD that moves your apps to your external SD Card which really helps if you have Root.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD If you are a gamer, which I don't think cause if you are you would complain about it, you should buy the app Folder Mount, because Link2SD does not move Obb files(huge 'only' game files).https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount

holy crap my .thumbnails folder is 1.44 GB
I think once we delete the thumbnails folder, and then open the album app, it is going to rebuild the same thing over again !

you are right will build again automatically :C mine builded again 984 MB !!!
guys, after you delete the .thumbnails folder, you must -
create a file named .thumbnails
and place it where the .thumbnails folder used to be and this will stop the android system recreate the .thumbnails folder as there is a file named .thumbnails that you created.
It worked for me since my original post and my phone works as normal.
Remember create a file named .thumbnails not a folder named .thumbnails

Aah.. Did not read the op thoroughly. :good:
Introduction:
This is a long but detailed guide to move user apps to system and to make them survive OTA so they will get restored on flashing every OTA(any rom?). This is lengthy but has to be done only once.
Things needed:
Unlocked and rooted device with TWRP installed and on any custom rom like Lineage which supports addon.d (NOT MIUI)
60-apps.sh
Link2sd
Titanium backup
A PC with any good notepad editor (I use notepad++)
Directory Printer
A USB Cable
Some free space (2GB) in internal/external sd card) temporarly
Little time and presence of mind (can't give link, sorry)
See Screenshots (folder) if it gets confusing, they are numbered 1 to 40 so it will be easy to understand.
Instructions:
1. Install you favorite rom and set it up. Install all the apps you use(do set the apps, just install for now). Once done, Install link2sd and titanium backup too.
2. Open link2sd and grand root permissions.
i. Tap menu and then Storage Info to check how much space do you have in System
ii. Tap back and set sorting mode to apk+dex+lib size and filter to User apps (both buttons are next to menu, you can't miss them)
iii. Now tap and hold on any application name you want to move to system, ideal apps would be like Greenify, Instadic, Truecaller etc. (apps you want to let run in background), apps you always keep in your phone or apps which are big in size. I used Kernel Adiutor-Mod here to demonstrate.
Move all the required apps and keep checking system space, leave 100-200mb free.
3. Once done, Reboot to TWRP
i. Tap Mount and put a tick before System
ii. Go back and Tap Advance--->File manager
iii. Scroll to find system, open it and find priv-app, open it too (you are here- /system/priv-app)
iv. Tap menu button and copy folder, scroll to find sdcard/sdcard1, again tap menu botton and swipe to copy. (i used Alarms folder in /sdcard)
4. Once done, Connect the phone to PC.
i. Make a folder (name it sysapps) and copy this priv-app folder in sysapps folder. (delete from sdcard)
ii. Download 60-apps.sh from here and place it in sysapps folder too.
iii. Open priv-app folder and delete everything except the apps you moved. Tip-Default system apps should have proper names like Settings. SystemUI, Velvet(gapps too) etc.
iv. Run Directory Printer and click save to disk. Set everything as shown here and navigate to \sysapps\priv-app folder.
v. Click Save to disk and again navigate to sysapps folder, name the file as my.txt and save it.
5. Run Notepad++ and open my.txt in it.
i. Press ctrl+h to open replace, write everything written before priv-app in find what column and delete everything written in replace with column. Click repalce all. (we are removing everything written before priv-app in every line)
ii. Again write \ in find what column and / in replace with column. Click replace all.
6. Open 60-apps.sh in notepad++
i. Look for addon.d/60-apps.sh under list_files() {
ii. Select and copy everything from my.txt and paste it between addon.d/60-apps.sh and EOF (there is a blank line there, check and delete if any blank line remains after pasting)
iii. Once done, save it and exit notepad++.
7. Now copy/move this 60-apps.sh to sdcard and disconnect the phone
i. As done above to copy priv-app from system to sdcard, copy 60-apps.sh from sdcard to /system/addon.d
ii. Navigate to /system/addon.d and tap 60-apps.sh. Tap chmod 755. Swipe to confirm.
iii. Reboot your phone.
8. Use your phone as you do and flash any ota without wiping system. If changing rom, try deleting everything except priv-app and addon.d folder in system, instead of wiping system partition completely.
Moving updated apps to system:
Occasionally apps will get updated and they will start to acquire space in data. To move them back to system do this.
1. Open titanium backup, tap Backup/Restore, tap click to edit filters and under Filter by type tap User and Uninst. to leave just System enabled. Tap green Check above right to set.
2. Tap Order by app name (click to change) and tap last update time.
3. Backup all updated apps temporarily and close titanium backup.
4. Open link2sd and set filter to Updated
5. Tap and hold on app's name and tap Integrate update into system
6. Once done, reboot.
7. Open titanium backup again and restore data only for the apps you backed up.

Yes. can be done. but not through twrp. How? i don't know for sure yet.

I tried to access /data so I clicked 'back' and everytime I choose a folder it trims 3 firsts symbols from selected folder.
Example:

I cannot edit filepath as it is not editable.

This tool is lovely! Used it to move a ton of files from my Pixel on Pie to my PC so that I could do a full wipe and install of Android 10, then moved the files back. The speeds seem to be at least 10x faster using this than MTP over USB. Thank you so much!!!

This is the best method to transfer big amount of data from your phone. I had 35GB of photos and videos and this app transfer that quick and without any data corruption. MTP is not even close to that method. Thanks a lot!
FYI: I think this tool unfortunately doesn't really work under Android 11 any more, probably due to the new restricted storage access design by google.
Running an Pixel 2 with Beta RC3 and some files and folder won't be shown. For example the "camera" folder under "dcim" wont show at all.
Other files under downloads: some show, some don't.
Maybe you could look into it and fix it with an update? Was immensely usefull for copying pictures.

Found it on an old computer for you.
I still prefer using this app instead of "Android Studio", especially if I'm only using Android Studio just for file transfer (overkill 800+ megabyte download) whereas "Android ADB File Explorer" is less than 1 megabyte. I also find it a lot easier to move directories with subdirectories with "Android ADB File Explorer".

Edit 2: I encountered the Android 11 issue with missing subdirectories. I just copied the parent folder and the subdirectories that weren't displaying in "ADB File Explorer" still copied over anyways.

The developer of this utility hasn't logged into XDA in over four years, so my guess is that this isn't being maintained. However, "codinginthebigcity" has updated their "Watch Navigator" app in the Google Play store as recently as February 2021. So they may still be active in Android development. Their email [email protected] is listed in that app description if you want to pose your feature request directly to them.
