CM For i9500 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm Asking If There Are Any Custom Roms Like CM, Aokp...etc. For i9500 Will Be Release In The Next Months When Samsung Release Source Code For Exynos 5 Octa
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Samsung are not going to release the source code for any Exynos chipset, or at least not properly. It's something they have been promising for years and never have. Seriously, don't hold your breath.

Samsung support with the S4/exynos

I remember reading awhile ago an interview with one of the CM developers saying that he's sick of samsung not updating/releasing their exynos codes and as such he stopped develpoing for samsung devices.
As i'm looking to upgrade my s2 to a new phone I'm wondering if we'll see better support from samsung for the developers this time.
any thoughts?
two words- ignore exynos

i9505 is a much better choice if you want the stock Android experience. Don't know if you missed it, but Google are launching a Google Edition of the S4(SD600 version), which means it'll be much better supported than the i9500.
yeah just a shame that the exynos version is the only version you can buy in some country's(mine included)
would be much easier buying that one over the GE one!
check areas of custom rom, there more for exynos.
lol I got the qualcom version. haven't seen exynos version is that the I9500 ?

Exynos version is i9500 (plus I believe one Korean version and one Chinese version). Which so far has no CM/AOSP support whatsoever. All of the former Exynos CM maintainers have stopped working with Samsungs, leaving only those who worked with Snapdragon-based Samsungs (of which there were quite a few...) still working on Samsung devices. So far not a single person with a track record of doing good CM bringups/maintenance has stated their intention to touch the Exynos variant.
Snapdragon versions are I9505, I337, M919, not sure what the Verizon and Sprint versions are. M919 got CM support from Cyanogen himself within a day or two of launch, and all other Snapdragon versions are just needing maintainers. Of the Snapdragon versions, the I9505 seems to be getting the least attention. (Except for maybe the bootloader-locked I337...) But the I9505 can leverage M919 and other Snapdragon work, the Exynos version stands on its own, sharing nothing with any other device.

what version of s4 you have ?
There are quite a few stock ROMs for the I9500 but, in terms of CM10.1 and the like, you will need to wait until someone gets around to overcoming the closed source nature of Exynos the phone contains.

He has the I9500 as posted by tapatalk sig. The I9505 will have greater development. But it's still relatively new for both models anyway.
U guys think that some one will be close to the sources ?? The i9300 has support for cm

The S3 has CM because the CM team bust a gut to get it working with no help from Samsung. And its still not working 100%. As a result of this and Samsung's broken promises they have decided to swerve the Exynos S4.

If you want developer support you have to stay away from Exynos. Samsung is an a..hole S4 will be my last Samsung device.

It helped that the Exynos4 Quad (4412) had a lot of commonality with the Exynos4 Dual (4210) in the GS2.
But it's been no secret since September that the Exynos 4412 was the end of the line for those of us that worked with Exynos unless Samsung made significant changes. Someone else might step up, but it's pretty unlikely IMO. All of the ex-Teamhacksung guys are working with various Qcoms now.

Coming from a CM member that must be really depressing news for I9500 owners who would rather not be on Touchwiz.
I have the S4 i9500 and the HTC ONE and it looks like the ONE gets lot more attention from the devs...
and that is to bad.. the stock version is very lagy in comparing to the HTC

Blame Samsung.

[Q] new exynos, AOKP for i9500 and new linux kernel

1) lack of source codes for the previous exynos in galaxy s3 is a well known problem preventing the ability to create good, custom and clean android roms for s3. therefore, many developers have decided ditching s3 custom roms.
im afraid there will never be any good clean android roms for S4.. or it will take a long time.
what do you think? why doesnt samsung release the source code of the exynos 5?
Will exynos 5's source code be released soon???????
2) a new linux version 3.10 has been release, supporting exynos 5 core.. when it will be used in galaxy s4???
3) how will linux 3.10 improve android? will it be better/faster?
4)Ive heard that samsung is busy developing a new SoC, Exynos 5420
when it will be released and what will it do

1- Exynos Code are probably never to be released though i heard about this exynos octa arndale version that may help in getting additional infos about the Chip
2 and 3-this new linux version is probably to be used with newer version of android it brings big.little optimazation so it will make the exynos SOC run efficiently however it is not know how it would improve it or using which scenario .and yes i will be faster and more power efficient
4- this SOC is more likely to be used with future devices like note 3

thanks for answering
when will exynos octa arndale version be released?
So does that mean we are not going to see AOKP on i9500 soon. I love AOKPs and am cursing myself for not buying the i9505 as it was available. Smartphone is no joy without AOKP.

We all miss AOKP!
Hello guys, an Android / xda developers n00b here...
The Octo Core GT-I9500 was the only choice here since it's the only S4 model shipped in my country so I'm a bit frustrated too about the AOKP thing - which I learned it may well be the next big thing after CyanogenMOD itself.
I'm about to flash Arrow ROM right now which seems pretty interesting and also will give Omega ROM a try, while we can't put our dirty hands on AOKP we surely have two really nice mods to play with
As such, I'm all years about your experiences - if any - with any of these two ROMs.
Cheers
so no aokp coming soon?
even GS3 got aopk faster
Comon people please help
Comon i need answersssss
Comon what goes on there are any news?
Where is aopk for s4
what goes on

Or what is more or less the same thing: it will not get faster no matter how much you stand still looking at it!
(and, btw, this is just what's happening to me reloading the site every 5' min awaiting for the imminent release of Arrow ROM 4.0, lol!)
In general thread of i9500 and i9505 a thread exist s about cm development for i9500 some good info there!

CM based builds for N900

I am having few doubts regarding N9000.
N9000 is having exynos and other variants have snapdragon processor.SO why there is difference in processors for same vairant. Is snapdragon more powerful than exynos?
Also I am seeing a different thread for exynos note 3, why we are having different thread?Does it means that builds available in other treads are not meant for this device??
I am also not able to see any CM builds available for N9000 , any idea about that?
Both the chips are very powerful. According to some benchmarks they have similar score. The beauty of snapdragon processor is that it is capable of shooting 4k videos which exynos cant do.I guess snapdragon also supports LTE and that makes it different. The reason why there are no CM rom for N900 is because samsung hasn't released its source for CM team to work. Be patient. Its up to CM to decide wether to work on this model or not.
The roms from N9005 will not work with N900.

Samsung realesed some source codes I know. Because of that some kernels compiled and distributed in Exynos section.
What do you mean "hasn't released its source" ? Samsung distributed source codes to N9005 and didn't dist. to N900. Why?
I don't understand.
I suppose to N900 doesn't owned by any people who is capable being contributor on CM.
Would you like to inform about the codes?
Sincerely.

The Qualcomm source has to be released under the open source agreement as it's not Samsung's software/hardware. -- With the Exynos source it's Samsungs own software/hardware therefore they don't have to release all or any of it to anyone.
Any chance of getting these CM builds for N900??? Its being long time now..
It'll be longer yet.. CM not even started on the source.. And that's assuming they have it.

release date for CM 11 for exynos?

Anyone might have a clue as to when the galaxy note 3 exynos version will get cyanogenmod ?
Thx
Never, sorry bro. I'm in the same boat

S4 exynos did get cm , but that was ages after cm11 for qualcomm s4 came out.
You might wanna ask devs in i9500 forum for help
Exynos devices exhibit Samsung's greatest disdain for developers. Samsung goes well out of their way to be a PITA by using crappy KNOX in the bootloader and everywhere else. Also the Exynos devices aren't sold in great numbers and not sold at all in North America so many devs don't want (or can't) to take the time on a rare device.
It's too bad bc I see them going on ebay for $350-ish.
