CIFS on CM nightly - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I run AOKP on my phone and have Tasker run
Code:
busybox mount -t cifs //192.168.88.253/Eden /sdcard/Eden -o username=guest
when it connects to my home wireless. Works great!
Been trying to do the same thing on my CM tablet but the mount fails:
Code:
1|[email protected]:/ # lsmod
cifs 228705 0 - Live 0x00000000
dhd 383559 0 - Live 0x00000000
[email protected]:/ # busybox mount -t cifs //192.168.88.253/Eden /sdcard/Eden -o username=guest
mount: mounting //192.168.88.253/Eden on /sdcard/Eden failed: No such file or directory
255|[email protected]:/ # ls /sdcard/Eden
[email protected]:/ #
Edit:
I flashed A1 kernel from http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1833136 and
Code:
busybox mount -t cifs //192.168.88.253/Eden /data/media/0/Eden -o username=guest
worked!

[Q][possable solution found??][universal??] data2ext

I have made a file to mount an sdcard second partition to "/data". It needs to go in "/system/etc/init.d/". Can some have a look to tell me if it would work or not as I don't have a partition sdcard.
-Download link: http://db.tt/paxqo1b
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
if [ -e /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-num/p2 ]
then
busybox mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock10 /;
busybox umount /data;
busybox mount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-num/p2 /data;
busybox chown system system /data;
busybox chmod 771 /data;
busybox mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock10 /;
fi;
Why would you want the whole data partition on the sdcard? It will ruin it a lot quicker, and also slow the phone down if the card isn't fast enough.

Google Maps freeze in Froyo

I should check defy forums more often!

Open terminal or adb shell and type these commands:
Code:
$ su
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
# echo sysctl -w vm.min_free_kbytes=4096 >> /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
# chmod 744 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
# mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system

[Q] no /system rw access

I am trying to:
* run backtrack image on my slide the small custom smaller image not the +4gig one for fat32
* get RW to /system for su updated and allow rootkeeper to 'work' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21219704
* I seen several tutorials but I am not sure what one to follow .. i have S-ON and I assume I need that off for su to update within clockwork etc ... none of the other root apps work.. the superuser.apk is installed and I allow perms but nothing seems to work.. I am hoping it is a easy fix ..

[Q] Mount system in adb to read and write on Nexus 7?

Hi guys,
For the Nexus 7, is there a command I can execute in adb shell root to mount the /system/ to enable reading and writing?
For example for the Galaxy Nexus it was...
mount -o rw,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/by- name/system /system
What is it for the Nexus 7?
Thanks!

Shot in the dark:
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount rw /system
then, for example, you should be able to do:
Code:
cp /system/build.prop [destination]
cp [source] /system/

Thank you for replying!
I did try your shot in the dark, however when I tried to do a mkdir test for example I still got:
[email protected]:/ # mkdir test
mkdir failed for test, Read-only file system
I believe the format is like:
Usage: mount [-r] [-w] [-o options] [-t type] device directory
But I don't know the specifics. Any thoughts is appreciated!
What I posted above works on my GNex, was /system your active directory when you tried to mkdir?
I would try on my N7, but its ready to be RMA'd...
Code:
[email protected]:/system # mount -o remount rw /system
mount -o remount rw /system
[email protected]:/system # mkdir test
mkdir test
[email protected]:/system # ls
ls
app
bin
build.prop
etc

Your advice worked, I over complicated it. I just did this again on my N7 and worked perfectly. Thank you very much!!!

CIFS Script on GT-I9500 GAlaxy S4

Hi,
So I made a script to try and mount CIFS storage to my Galaxy S4 in the system file directory at boot. I have a WIFI and a 3G version both are giving me trouble. All apps I have tried fail cause none have an option to mount a system folder.
Any ways here are my scripts:
for 3G
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
mkdir /system/cifs
mkdir /system/cifs/localMountDir
busybox mount -t cifs //IPADDRESS:445/ /system/cifs/localMountDir -o unc=\\\\IPADDRESS:445\\,username=X,password=X
was not sure if I need to specify a port (445) or not..either way I cannot connect it says no such device
WIFI script:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
mkdir /system/cifs
mkdir /system/cifs/localMountDir
busybox mount -t cifs //192.168.0.150/b /system/cifs/localMountDir -o unc=\\\\192.168.0.150\\b,username=X,password=X
Again i tried this with & without port no luck
I have been able to connect via ANDSMB app while over wifi (not over 3 G yet) so I know the above information should connect at least when on WIFI.
Using this guys blog post for inspiration
