Format the card using FAT32 and it will work for you and everyone else who does not format it using fat32.

Go into recovery mode in cwm and if you can read the external sdcard
in cwm recovery then the fault is in Rom Manager and has nothing to
do with the microsd card.
If that's the case I would go to the playstore and get "goomanager"
which is free download and use that to flash TWRP recovery which is
a full touch recovery system.
That will recognize the external sdcard formatted with fat32 just fine.
With TWRP you can select internal or external sdcard for backups,
restore and flashing roms, mods and themes.
When you are in goomanager just click the menu key and
select "installopenrecoveryscript".
Once it gets done flashing, select "reboot recovery" in goomanager
and it will boot to TWRP recovery.
Good luck!
Ok i will try thanks..

Have you installed goomanager and flashed the openrecoveryscript in goomanger
and tried to backup/restore using TWRP recovery instead of cwm as I suggested?
No recoveries were found for your device

I used the NVflash root method from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714, but when I tried to update CWM from v3.0.2.8 to v3.1.0.1 it can't mount the sdcard. Every solution I've seen says that you need to format the sdcard but I can't format it using Windows because it views it as a media device and I can't format it from CWM because it needs to mount it to format it. Any ideas on how I can get it working? Or should I try flashing roms by another method?
Pic shows all the different things I've tried and the messages that it produced.
take a micro sd card and put it in
go into recovery and go down to advanced
repartition the micro sd card
reboot
put what evere you want to flash in the micro sd card and flash
take your sdcard out and use SD Formatter 3.0 to format it. Now try re-flash the new CWM.

I formatted it, it worked. Now to get it to stop aborting the roms I'm trying to install. Thanks guys
As i said in the title I have problem in clockwork recovery. For partition the internal sd and increase internal storage i need install partition.zip from external sd. But in clockwork recovery i can't enter ext. sd. How can i increase increase int. storage?
You could try formatting your external sdcard and then try again in recovery.

which type i should format?
Just put sdcard in and go to settings>storage>format sdcard. That should make it work.
Sent from my Huawei u8800 using XDA App
this happens to me too, I formated the 16gb card many times and do not work. With one 4gb sd card works

Are you installing the zip from the external SD card or the internal? It should be run from on your internal SD card

plus if u use an external SD card don't forget to remove it before installation and then proceed
best to keep the files on the internal storage when flashing
Hello,
I have a lg optimus l3 e400.
I am new to rooting and stuff.. Recently I rooted my phone and it worked well. Then I installed this sdmerge mod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215406
And installed this version of cyanognmod :

I have a 8GB external memory card. It was working fine then. But later I connected the sd card to my laptop using card reader and formatted it(FAT32). From then on the phone is not mounting the sd card! It only says that sd card is not mounted. The sd card couldnt be mounted even in cwm recovery. The version of cwm that i had was some v6.0.0. something. I later flashed v5.8.4.5 cwm recovery and even that is not mounting the sd card! I tried formatting the sd card even with NTFS or ext2 but nothing helps. The card works fine on other phones. And my phone detects other sd cards properly.
Also I even did data wipe, cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe and reinstalled the whole os. Nothing is helping out.
Any kind of help is appreciated.

Hi Vivjos, I got the same error after I did "Erase SD Card" on my LG E400. I pulled out the SD card, plugged it into a Micro SD card reader and connected to my PC. Windows automatically gave me a prompt saying that I need to format my card to use it! I said yes, chose FAT(system default) {DO NOT choose FAT32 or any other FS} and voila, my card showed up on my PC. I inserted it back into my LG E400 and everything was perfectly fine! Hope this helps

Have you mount it in TWRP?
I tried to mount SD card but the X does not stay on when I try to pick it. When I click on external SD , it only shows " up a level"
The card works fine when using any of the ROMs and can be seen no problem, it just doesn't show in recovery.
I USD the same card on my note 3 and did not have a problem.
