Hello everyone,
I just got a new Galaxy S3 from China today, but it came with many preloaded chinese apps. It is not really branded, only preloaded with several things. I tried restoring phone from configurations, but the applications didn't dissapear.
I would like to flash a clean international versin with no added chinese things. Could you please point me to the right direction?
This is my first Android phone, but I had a Tablet before which I flashed a couple times, so I'm not a complete noob.
Thanks a lot in advance!!!
Cheers,
C.S.
You might go to I9300 International for better specific help over there :good:
Your probably the only one on this forum with one so I don't think anyone knows if any ROMs are compatible with it.. But the root method may still be the same so you can try rooting it and than installing Root explorer (paid) or ES File Explorer (free) to remove them from system/app or just get Titanium Backup (paid) after rooting and remove them that way (best option IMO)
So just head over to the international forums and read their easiest root method.
Best of luck, be careful, those things aren't covered under any warranty if you brick it huh :what:

Thanks for the advice. Is there any way to know what "version" I have? I mean, the phone came from China, but knowing the market, it could be Chinese, Hong Kong, Vietnamese or who knows what.

Vietnamese doesn't use those weird letters, it uses French alphabet.

Hmm pretty much the only info about its build you could compare to others would be under Settings > About device, screenshot that and post it up over on the international forums and ask them if it resembles theirs in any way. Personally I'm pretty positive the ROMs won't be directly compatible and definitely wouldn't flash any of them, but if I personally can't use an Android phone without root so I'd personally try the root method and pray to god my phone booted afterward lol
Tough situation man, curious as to how it goes for you so post back if you try !

From what I read about those Chinese knock-offs they only have like 512MB RAM and almost just as bad in storage capacity.. how can anyone use a phone like that nowadays?
I don't think any ROM will even "fit" on it, sorry to say

Some people can only afford what they can afford man. No point in discouraging what they buy. Obviously OP knew it was a knockoff before buying.

It's original. I might be dumb to buy from China, but not so dumb to get a knockoff without knowing...

Really? Not to be a ****, but mind showing us a screen shot under the "about device" section in settings?
Because as far as I know, there are no legit GS3's coming out of China on direct sales..
Do you know the model number? It's in Settings -> About

Check out the rooting sticky's to learn how to root the device.

Weird......most of Sammy's stuff is rolling out of china, including my T-999
I said on "direct sales"
Having a factory in China is not the same as selling unbranded GS3s from China. Plus it's known that they're selling knockoffs

It's not unfathomable that a few slip out and on to the streets
You have to confirm your model number, there are many Galaxy S3
models (international,japan,korean,US) selling in China.
Come on, I'm telling you it's good...
Here is the About device:
Model Number GT-I9300
Android Version 4.0.4
Baseband Version I9300XXLE8
Kernel Version 3.0.15-554452-user [email protected] #1
Build number IMM76D.I9300XXALE8
*#1234#
AP: I9300XXALE8
CP: I9300XXLE8
CSC: I9300OJVALE7
My best guess was that it came from Hong Kong, but I searched the forum with this info (1234) and got Egypt, Morocco, South Africa and UAE.
What should I do? :silly:

I would personally try to flash a standard i9300 ROM onto it. Then you wouldn't have to worry about any sketchy apps that have been added.
There's no guarantee it will work, but if it really is a legit i9300 (which it seems to be), I would imagine the standard international ROM would work on it.

Am I the only one using the newly released variant with international LTE? GT-N7005.
Seems there is no ROMs compatible with this new variant.
Hehe maybe check out Hydracore kernel? That one should work.
Better to ask in his Q&A thread though

I think you might be in the wrong forum here. It appears that your phone has dual-core 1.5Ghz processor (but Samsung doesn't say which one), and that's something your phone shares with SGN I717. If I'm right here there's not a single Rom or kernel here that you can flash without running into pretty serious problems.
Anyone got the root?
I also got the N7005 from Hong Kong. Anyone knows how to get the phone rooted or install CWM?

I think one of these people needs to:
Install Android System Info
Tap the System tab
Expand the CPU row
Tell us what the "Hardware:" field says
For example, N7000 units report "Hardware: SMDK4210"
Well... surprise.. the Hardware: GT-N7005...

That's odd, on every other device that field reports a general board type and not specific model number - for example SMDK4210 for I9100/I777/N7000 (and probably the Tab 7 Plus and 7.7), and SMDK4X12 for I9300/N80xx/I9305/Note2 variants.
There...
Kind Sirs out there, would this help in any way? Not too much info can be found of this variant.. Would this be the international version for the Note LTE

CPU Implementer of 0x51 = Qualcomm. See "Known ARM Manufacturer Codes" at http://code.google.com/p/android-analyzer/wiki/CPUPlugin
Your device, despite having a model number far closer to GT-N7000, is more similar to the SGH-I717.
Really appreciate your help and explanation. I find it strange that I cant find much info on this variant on the internet..

This device was only release in SG and HK so very limited users and it seems no much development on ROM, etc. Has anyone successfully root this not using the i717 methood? See link below

I was under the impression the galaxy s5 was going to come with it preinstalled. It was the only bloatware I was actually looking forward too and when I looked at my Galaxy s5 there was nothing to be found! Does anyone have it yet?

Its a piece of software that helps you Speed Read. It was supposed to make its official debut on the Galaxy S5.
I was just wondering the same thing - it occurred to me that Spritz was supposed to debut with this phone but I've seen no mention since March.

I posted a thread in the general s5 QA section. I'm an At&t user and no Spritz there either, also not on the watch.
Very disappointed as well. Spritz / Samsung should at least offer some explanation. This was one of the main selling points of the phone for me
Just emailed their support team
I just emailed spritzinc support team and I'll let you know what I find. Seriously between this and not being able to root i'm about to hand this phone back to verizon.
Is it called "Brain Apps" on Spritz ?

One month later got this response from spritz "Benew0,
We're pleased to announce our new email reader for the G5 - to give it a try, go out to the Samsung App Store and search for 'SpritzMail'. Have fun with it and let us know if you have any issues - [email protected]
Thanks!
jamie"
There you have it check the app store for a mail app
Hi everyone
I'm currently considering to buy an used Galaxy S5 on our local website. But, unfortunately I'm afraid that someones going to somehow give me a S5 clone - which I don't want.
So my question here would be this: Can someone, who has the orignal S5, download from the Play Store the CPU-Z app, and make a screenshot of those 4 tabs within the app? There are 4-5 tabs (SOC, System, Sensors, and Battery tab).
This way I will have the correct information from the original S5 and I can compare those to the one that I may or may not gonna buy.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards
PS: Sorry for my bad English

And those where? well let say its not as cheap as those clones are, but not so pricey as the New ones - somewhere in the middle
Could you make those screenshots and post it on imgur, or any other image sharing website. So that I can compare those with the ones I would get from the vendor

Hi all,
So I basically bought fake Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - was confirmed by Samsung service centre. Firs time in my life is a victum of scam :crying: All reported to police etc. but the problem remains - I need this phone for work. In particular, I need to use the app called "Samsung Gear 360" it works with Samsung 360 camera. The fake one has "Android 6.0.1" which does not support the app.
Question: is there a way to make the fake one to support the app? Or can I update Android 7 to this fake Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge? so I can work untill I can buy the genuine one.
Thanks a lot in advance!
thats probably different phone that looks like s7.
see what you have in model info?

Unlikely I'm afraid as it would rely heavily on Samsung framework and services, which your device is probably lacking

Not being rude, but I think there is a communication gap here. Firstly you seem to hand misinterpreted his initial post and now you are making no sense at all...
ok, so point him just 1 rom that he can flash if you are so helpful and intelligent.
answer to 1st post is:
no, you cant flash, because you dont know whats inside your phone, it could be mediatek, qualcom or whatever chinese put in.
so no app for this device
