[Q] How do send the picture w/audio? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yes, the camera feature to take a picture w/audio is a bit of a novelty, but from time to time, it's actually a great concept. HOWEVER, i cannot figure out how to send the JPEG file to include the audio. I tried email & text message options. Is there a way for non S4 users to receive this audio picture file?

can google please fix the damn gallery lag problem

we're supposed to have the top of the line google phone, yet my gallery takes foreever to open and lags all the time. its so damn frustrating to have to wait for like 20 seconds just to view a picture i just took. it worked just fine before the 3.2.2 update. it seems like the phone is getting worse with each update instead of better. GOOGLE fix the **** that we need to work instead of other stupid things that no one can use right now
i switched to quickpic https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder and never looked back. superfast and displays the picture with more detail whenyou zoom in.
I agree with quickpic. I made the mistake of removing gallery, only to find out later other programs needed it for some function other than displaying pictures.
yeah the 3d gallery is a fail imo. luckily there is quickpic. havent had any problems yet w/o gallery3d.apk

I think I had some error when trying to send a pic or video or sound recording with stock messaging. I'm guessing it uses it to convert SMS to mms.
I don't know if it can be done but it would be nice to have a setting to change file associations with. More than what can be done now.

[Q] Airview on default messaging and music player

Hi folks,
I just registered here but I have been lurking in this forum for a few months now. ( I laughed hard at the terms and conditions video btw)
Anyway, I just got myself a new i9500.
One quick question, I find that the airview works perfectly well on the gallery, calendar, and when viewing videos. However, when I'm trying to hover messages in the default messaging app (i'm using chomp sms by the way) I find that it doesnt work on all conversations. I mean, it would only show previews for some specific conversations. Also in the default music player, when I browse for music in folder view, I find that airview doesnt work on the very top folder. Everything else, I can get a preview on.
I've tried restarting the phone, turning off and on air gesture and everything, but its still the same. To me, it looks like a software issue. Has someone observed the same thing in their phones?
Thanks!
you will only be able to use air view when the message lenth is bigger small messages which is seen completly without hovering wont be using airview feature hope that helps

you said you are on default, but then say you are using chomp? im confused.
so does air view work on chomp sms??
Sorry, I got you confused there. I meant I'm now using chomp sms. Anyway I figured it out now, it will only work when the text message is actually longer than what the screen can display.

[Q] Full size contact photo in Touchwiz

Hello,
I just got an S4, previously had HTC One X. Now, there is a small issue which is bothering me and I couldn't find any posts about it. When you open up a contact in Touchwiz, it shows a tiny square photo of the person. In Sense, it shows a widescreen photo, which can be expanded into full size once clicked on (please see attached image).
Is there anyway I can get Touchwiz to do the same? Any mods, apps, etc?
Any help would be really appreciated.
You can't do that in the stock contacts app, but you can find an alternate contacts/dialer app in the store. Can't say much more though.

I have been using Rocketdialer from the play store for years now,
it has full screen incoming and outgoing caller id built in with all
kinds of themes and layouts.
Much better than any stock dialer. It even has a call blocker built in too.
It's an all in one contacts/dialer/caller id/call blocker.
It's really excellent
I got it from the playstore.
Give it a try,

Actually one problem is in Google contacts. The dialer app is able to display big photos when you make a call or you have one incoming. When this photos are saved in Google Contacts, are down scaled. So, when you reset the phone or get a new one, the photos are small.
Do you know caller picture's size in S4? Is it 1080*1080 or 720*720?

There's a workaround for this.
Create the contact of the person in 'Phone' and mark the contact of the phone as default (Open contact->menu->mark as default). The hassle though is you re-create it for every contact you have.
I only do this though for frequent callers, and for callers that I have a high resolution pic.

Yesterday I noticed that this problem it's fixed by itself ... I didn't do anything and now I have big contact photos again.

AutoAwesome Video

This feature was enable on my HTC One M7 and I use it all the time. I guess the S5 is not supported but the Note 3 is? Anyone know a workaround?
I took at look on my Note 3 but cannot see the effect you are talking about. What is AutoAwesome Video?

Auto Awesome is the name given to the tool used by Google to create these motion videos from images you upload to Google Plus either through your cell phone or computer. When the right set of photos is detected in your Google Plus photo album Auto Awesome videos are created for you to share as you please.

I'm not sure what this means? I check google plus setting and don't see a way to turn on autoawesome. I can view photos I have in my autoawesome folder that was created on my htc one before.., my gs5 never create any autoawesome photo or video that I recently took.

yes your right, there is no option to check off for the Auto Awesome, it just does it automatically of course lol, but, If Google +, and Google + Photos arent syncing, Auto Awesome will do nothing. I think ya may wanna Google Search Auto Awesome, cause i believe it only works when a certain number of photos are taken. I could be mistaken tho

Maybe I'm not making myself clear, but you see the instruction at the bottom on how to create a movie/picture. I don't even see this option to create auto awesome video.

Thanks,

[Q] When I get a call the phone shows a picture in a picture for the caller?

When I receive a call the phone display shows a small picture inside a larger blurred picture. I can't figure out how to just get one large in focus picture.
Anyone know how to fix this? Example attached.
Mine does this too. But I just thought that it was normal.
It is normal. That's what this phone does

I'm not sure it's "normal", mine's not doing that and I'm on stock. I don't recall it doing that before the latest 4.4 update either. Mine only shows the caller's large picture and that's it. The only time I see the thumbnail of the caller is if go to another screen while in a call, but never while in a call & ON the call after. Are you stock & which version are you on?

Yes stock NCG rooted.
Could be specific to the earlier version then. I don't recall it being that way on NE9. NHA or NI2 do not have it displayed that way.

My stock NI2 looks the same.
Looks the same as which?
Attached is what I'm seeing on stock NI2...only 1 image in the phone screen area.
You need to edit the contact and "refresh/save" the image for the person. At some point Google changed the size of the image, so you only have the thumbnail saved. I've been doing it along the way as folks call me, so at this point I've got most of my 3000 contacts with thumbnails and about 100 converted.

eI recall you used to have to create a phone contact with a hi res picture and link it to a similar Google contact to get hi res contact photos because of Google not saving a hi res image. That was some time ago, though.
But before they waste their time doing anything with the contacts, I don't think that's the issue they're referring to here.
I noticed after sending my screen shot, on occasion the thumbnail would remain and never show - just like the OP screenshot. However, for those 3 times, my call timer wouldn't kick in and would still only show "dialing" even though the call was put through. Nothing to do with image resolution. Some kind of bug is all, at least in my opinion.
99% of the time my calls show as expected like my screenshot I posted. It's only been the 3 times in the last few weeks that it had occurred that the thumbnail never changed to "fullscreen" on the dialer.
