Guys, pls wait till may 15th, i mean this coming sunday.... u all will remember that day in the future for something adventurous, developmental in the history of SGS2 custom ROMs....
simply put, DocRambone is releasing his first custom ROM for the SGS2 community, he is already working on it. this source code release will definitely speed up his quality release..... just give him some more time.....
good luck DocRambone.....

Tbh, i wasnt asking about a custom rom. I merely posted the link. I hadn't seen that it was already posted in the Dev section. So please calm down, no one was nagging for custom roms. I do concur though: good luck to all the devs.
@EleCtrOx666, I only posted the link for informational purposes, I wasnt asking or offering help re the source code. Hence my confusion as per your original comment. Yes I edited my comment, so that more people wouldnt be 'confused'.
To be honest after spending nearly a week with this phone, I'm thinking "do we need custom roms for this phone?"
Seriously think about it. Those of you who own this device, it is blazing fast already.
The only customised flashing I will be doing I think will be relating to the improvement of battery life and performance, that's it.
This phone rocks from the box.

Not tried the phone, but I can see a few things needing sorted. A few restrictions samsung put in place in apps that are needing removed. Example being today's fix for the "OMFG I finished charging!" alert More to come, if O2 would get their act together.

Respectfully, I don't think all that many people are concerned by the finished charging sound. It's a nice mod, but most people wouldn't bother with it unless it was part of a bigger set of mods.
The main stuff that would interest most people with this device is mods that increase battery life even further, as well as kernel tweaks like BLN. So more kernel mods than rom mods, I think.
It's hard to believe that you'd ever choose Touchwizz over stock/CM.. until you actually get the device in your hand and see just how well it works. Unlike the latest Sense, it's not in-your-face and the extra functionality is well placed.
I'm sure we can find tons of nice stuff to tweak as time goes by, but I think unlike most Android devices out right now, many hardcore users are actually going to be pretty happy with TW4. It's a bit odd really, coming from the SGS1 where you had to mod the thing or go insane.

DocRambone's ROM stuff doesn't need the kernel sources, afaik. He's going to be tweaking up and releasing an awesome "light" version with a lot of the extras removed - but that is all /system tweaks, not kernel.
Kernel tweaks will likely take longer, and probably come from the direction of supercurio - and the ROM builders will definitely be including that stuff in their ROMs, but it probably won't affect DocRambone's ROMs yet.
As to the kernel sources themselves.. the download link is SO SLOW! 10k/s!

Lol well if the complainers have their phone on silent and have vibration mode only when not in wouldn't then its fine.
Actually regarding alarms I'd love to have phone off and reboot when alarm rings in the morning like Nokia N-series do. Saves battery life span too.

Totally agree with Ryan. I hated TW on my sgs and even with the previews of TW4 before I bought a sgs II, I thought I was going to stick with launcher pro. But now with enhanced editing options I'm loving TW more than ever.
Thinking about it with Android I've actually never been so happy with stock

Well I completely agree. I don't think I'm going to flash a custom ROM, maybe just a kernel to gain root access.

+1 I use Adw on my tab, but the SgS2 doesnt need it. Feels mad, I know improvements can and will be made, but unlike some other phones I've had, it's not glaringly obvious as to where the improvements should be made. Best phone ever.

I have to agree with u my friend, it is so far the best phone I've ever had
People r *****ing a lot in here which is normal as we tend to forget how awesome the Ferrari is then we start *****ing about it's fuel consumption after having it for couple of months haha
It's wonderful all in one device which perform everything in no time. Coming from sgs, this phone is a beast, I am still negotiating myself whether to root or not
As I still don't c a reason to do so neither to instal a custom rom
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
to get rid of the bloatware perhaps? its the only reason to root really. (for me anyways...custom roms are good, but not worth the trouble when the stock roms are this good).

I am a bit skeptical about how the ROM porting and developing for the good old low RAM (I must note that I am joking as there are a lot of flammable s3 owners that won't get this) i9300 will continue now after the i9305 is officially out and has its own section. What is your opinion?
Unless they get donations for new phones or can afford to spend another £500 on a phone, i think we are safe...
yes... all the developers are going to dump i9300 and getting 9305 this week. All of us gonna rot in hell without any mods, development.........................

Just have a look at the Galaxy SII forums. Development is still very active. Development for this phone is gonna continue for a bit so I don't think you have anything to worry about. And not only that- but lets say every single dev left the i9300 ... we are still left with like 3 pages full of ROMs! We are sitting pretty. It's like the Galaxy SII Skyrocket scenario .. we all good baby!

some of us was very supportive, sometimes we donate to show our appreciation to them, but there are people will just leave without saying anything, and we being keep waiting and waiting, i remember there is one developer alexullde - xliterom 1.4.0 was his last Rom, he just disappear without saying anything, if i happen to see him developing new custom Rom in future after upgrading my phone, i were have to think twice from now...

Think twice about what? The fact that there's a chance ANY developer could do that same thing? .. and that's their right. Same thing has happened to a lot of us. Anyone remember eSPyEL- (I forget its been so long). I'm not saying always but most of the time the dev will put up a [FINAL] version. But we have to remember this is life, **** happens. Sometimes unexpected. I'm sure you've gathered this by now but flashing custom ROMs doesn't come with guarantees. And believe me, I've donated probably more than a lot of people on here have... multiple times. The fact is, this isn't they're day job and we all know that. Just because we donate doesn't guarantee we will have ROM support in the future. I think of donations as a way of Thank You for what we already have. Not trying to sound like a douch but if you want full ROM support for as long as you have your device, stock is the only solution.

That is what I don't understand..some people just use what is available..make a big noise if something does not work (most of the times their own fault)..if everything works out fine, don't even go back to give a feedback forget donating...
It's sad!!
Sorry for being Off Topic coz I believe Devs will be there as long as users support them..morally and maybe financially!!

This is unfair..don't remember that you donate to show your appreciation for what they DID, not to obligate them to work in the future, this is a different thing, developers do what they can in their free time, and that is disrespectful for developers, remember that they are the reason for some devices live long ( look at the HD2 ) , if not you will have an iPhone and every year you'll upgrade to... the same..
Respect and thanks to developers.

I'm sorry if i have something unpleasant, it can't be help it developer has stop developing the Rom, we have to respect their decision, but at least let us know.
some developer did mention that they have already upgraded their phone in the forum that it will be his last custom for this version and hopping to see us again on the next forum, for sure we will be happy to see those familiar developer again once we have a chance to upgrade our phone. i agree with your point too, no hard feeling if i sound unfriendly here, I'll be more happy to make more friends here then create more enemy...

Do not forget that some devs stay here and help and develop and they refuse accepting donations.
Harunjo from Galaxih kernel, did this and when i asked him why he won't accept donation,
He said that is enough for him that he loves what he does and feedback is enough. What a great Guy! Honestly

We're safe.. lol.
Heck the S1 is still in active development.
The S3 (I9300) sold millions of units.
The I9305 probably sold a fraction of that, just like the S1 Plus, these 'bonus' versions die quicker than the actual thing,
I Dont know whether you class me as a good DEV, but i will be around, at least for 2 years
So you can couint on me even if everyone else dissapears
Can't wait to welcome all devs in I9305 section. I feel my phone is useless without getting chances to tweaks n mods

We stopped developing because of Sammy.
They are wretched hypocrites who think they're boss now and can do whatever they want.
Someone needs to set them in their place that without us, they wouldn't be where they are today.

Samsung is sharing kernels and source codes just wait.it usually does.and they sure appreciate you.and not so many people die from maralia when considering 7 billion people but people fighting malaria are actually doing great job.
I hereby kiss those hands that work and develope for my device and only get happy with a tnx.
When i see a rom thread i hit thanks,by the way i only used ultimate jb v5.1.
The fact is that developers and coding people and software engineers are a little in background so people dont know who they really are

Honestly as a developer i am waiting for official JB!
Yes, we here at the xda developers, from a regular flashoholics to the great developers are in minority of all smartphone users. For example xda comunity counts about 5milions users, and only samsung sold about 10 milion galaxy notes n7000 (I think I'm right?) That tells you something, about minority:silly:
I also known a lot of people who are never heard anything about rooting or custom roms, and they are happy with stock devices. Some of them are even programmers LOL
But...
belive or not we at xda made their devices better. The great developers from xda push these softwares/roms/kernels to the limits. (now talking about samsung) Samsung uses this like their own. One example is g.Lewarne with his NoteCore and HydraCore kernels. I remember when I bought N7000, it came with xxlpy, then i flashed cleanote xxlrq and testing his kernels. Benchmark results was insane at this time (and they are insane now ) When he reach the sky with this kernel... Samsung realease xxlrt, and guess what, benchmark results are the same like it was on notecore kernel, boot up time, and other thing also...
So...
someone talks about samsung and their source code. Yeah they are ****heads, I can not imagine how the things would look now if they realeased it allready
p.s. yeah I know that the point of the thread is noobs vs developers, and it is realy sad I just returned from a nephew birthday, and drink a couple of beers, so what
EDIT: And thanks to the xda comunity I allready runing fully working xxlsc JB with 240dpi, nova launcher, xposed app, ripple lock, multiview, airview, butter smooth, and I dont give a damn about the official update. Made a backup and I sleep thight

Thanks for your job and your great roms! Well done and Goodbye
Don't buy a Nexus 4.. it has issues in heat dissipation.. so, as a safety measure the phone switches itself off when it reaches 60 degrees Celsius.. underclocks itself to 1.2 GHz at 35-40 degrees.. Though someone already found a workaround for it.
I think u know all this already..
HTC One will be a killer!
Well, what u'll buy depends on how much money u have saved..
nd yeah, ofcourse, THANKS A LOT!

Both of you talking for phones over 500euros when im gonna buy a 300euros phone i know one s is a killer and ofcorse s4 but their prices are way beyond my budget...also nexus is a google phone with great support for roms about the heat there is a overtake and maybe its software problem not hardware!!
Xiaomi Mi-2 is the best device you can get for 350€! Now with MIUI v5. It's really a great phone. Much better than Optimus G and nexus 4 even if they share the same hw. And with weekly updates too . You'll never look back to other phones eheh.
