Please port the Google wallet to I9505 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since the international i9505 had the same internals like the us versions of the s4, and even the software is almost identical, is there someone who could port the Google wallet to the European i9505?
I know something like this was done for the s3...
I tried running the modaco toolkit in xposed framework, wallet starts but I get that annoying "insufficient secure element privileges for this system image (release-keys)" error.
I'm sure there are a lot of people who would like to be able to use Google wallet, so.. is there anyone who would try to make this happen?

Hmm.. Hope soon we will have the same in 9505. Also now, we have a thread for asking / requesting the application to port. Try it here

Please read my tutorial, it works

Samsung S5 SM-G9006W

Am i right in saying this is the Chinese equivalent for the samsung s5 duos available here in the UK.
I have the SM-G9006W, i would really like to use it in the UK without all of the Chinese telecom crap that's on it. As this even been done before? can anyone tell me where the heck to start?
i was assuming there was a way to flash the Duos rom/recovery onto the G9006W, is that even possible?
Regards
Cap
Hi Cappilio,
I have the SM-G9008W, that one also had a lot of Chinese telecom stuff on it when I bought it, but I could uninstall all of it through the normal apps menu. That said I was thinking about if it was possible to flash the SM-G900FD firmware on it myself, as there isn't any Google related programs on the SM-G9008W, and I am missing the Play store a bit. I haven't been able for find a definite answer if it's possible to use that firmware on ours, and I am a bit scared of bricking it.
I think my next step is going to be rooting it to install the Google related programs instead.

[HELP THREAD] Australian i9505 Users Region-Specific Help

Okay! I've been on this board for almost seven years, with phones ranging from a HTC TouchPro through to my current Samsung Galaxy S4 International GT-i9505. The ROM I'm on right now is (with thanks to AntaresOne) cm-12-20150315-OPTIMIZED-jflte, available from his thread, below...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/rom-cyanogenmod-12-t2943934
Everything works well - it's fast, has great battery life, the images, screen, text, video all look great, the sound for a phone call is clear and loud, ringtones are loud, the Bluetooth works with my Fusion car stereo and I can play video from it to my Samsung LED TV via wi-fi.
The intention of this Helper Thread is to have somewhere just for Australian users with Galaxy i9505's or i9505T's (the Telstra model) ONLY. That way, the discussions and advice shared is much more 'region-specific'.
On that note, I'll share my experiences with how to get the best out of your phone. Firstly, may I just say please read through these instructions carefully before coming to me with questions. I have spent the best part of five years tinkering with an i9000, then a i9100T, now a i9505 International. Also, there's heaps more help and advice to be found here on XDA-Developers, sammobile and a number of other Android forums, so I've always found it best to research as much as possible to take the very best information that actually works. No question is too stupid, unless you ask one that's been answered a thousand times already, like...
What's the best ROM?, What's the best modem?, How do I root my phone?, and Will rooting void my warranty?
And so, we start afresh with a Galaxy i9505, also known as jfltexx. Back up all your photos and music to your PC, and you'll find any number of apps on Play Store to backup your text messages and call logs. Titanium Pro is the best. It does need root access, but fortunately there are a couple ('SMS Backup & Restore' is one) that you don't need root to use. Seeming though 99.99% of everything you can do to upgrade your phone is best off being done with a clean slate, trust me when I tell you - BACK YOUR STUFF UP AND FACTORY RESET THE DAMN THING!
The most important step - BACKUP YOUR DEVICE'S EFS FOLDER!!! This is a location where information pertaining to your device's IMEI number and Country Code etc. are stored, and this folder can sometimes be wiped when you flash a new ROM. From Lollipop onwards, the way that's done is a bit different, but again there's plenty of apps and methods out there that will do this backup for you. Thing is, most often you'll need to be rooted, so...
You'll find throughout XDA a number of device-specific threads and posts about how to gain root access on your device. The fastest and easiest way to perform this task is to go visit Chainfire...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803
The specific file you are looking for is called CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip. You use a nice little program called Odin - which just happens to be included in the package you've just grabbed - to 'flash' that into your phone. Yes yes yes, this voids your warranty and trips the Knox flag. Sadly, as much as you might find people who say that it can be reset, KNOX CANNOT BE CHANGED BACK ONCE IT'S 0x1!
Next, go and check out flatzki's thread at...

He's just got his hands on the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Stock ROM for the International Galaxy S4 LTE, jfltexx. Thank him while you're there, and grab the ZIP file I9505XXUHOA7_OXAHOA7.zip. Create a New folder on your Desktop, then (using WinRAR or 7ZIP) extract the contents of the ZIP you downloaded into that folder.
Once you've done that, you'll be looking for a way to get rid of the 'dreaded' Yellow Triangle. Go check out...
chainfire's TriangleAway Thread
and follow the instructions from the Master himself. Grab the TriangleAway-v3.26.apk from the link at the bottom of that post, and throw the man a Donation - the guy reigns supreme with these devices and deserves every bit of credit for the support he gives us all.
Next, go and find yourself a ROM. AOSP (Android Open Source Project) ones are the best. The origins of AOSP ROMs are Google's original Android source code, so you're getting the base code of the OS exactly as the Original Programmer intended. Samsung (and other OEM's) then get their grubby little hands on that code, then go to town making it control their hardware in the manner they want.
Now, there's two lists of Custom ROMs for the i9505 that are shared here on XDA:
For tweaked and altered versions of original stock AOSP ROMs, visit the Galaxy S4 i9505 Android Development section.
For custom ROMs that are pretty much 'outside the box', and built from scratch by individual developers or groups using Android source code, visit the Galaxy S 4 i9505 Original Android Development section.
No matter what you decide to 'flash' in, if you have questions about the ROM itself, how to flash it, or anything else about that particular release, ask them of the ROM Chef in the thread where you got it from. They're the ones who cooked it, so they've already gone through the trials and errors and successes of getting their ROM working on an i9505, making them the best guys and gals to ask if you have dramas with the ROM. 99.9% of the time the ROM Chef's thread will have in the first couple of posts Instructions on How To Flash, FAQ's, known issues, etc.
The advice I give everyone regardless of what device you have is, Back the damn thing up first - it's called a nandroid backup, Google it - and make sure you clean all traces of the old firmware out of your phone thoroughly. More often than not, the dramas people have when they get up and running on a newly flashed ROM (or, issues in restarting the device after a flash) can be directly attributed to remnants of the old ROM interfering with the new. This is especially so for flashing via Recovery. If you use Odin to flash a Stock firmware, it pretty much smashes its way over the top of whatever you've got installed, and gives you a fresh palate to work with.
Now, if you're having issues with carrier network connectivity, call quality, mobile internet etc., it could be either your network APN (Access Point Name) settings or your ROM's 'modem' package. APN settings are within the phone's Network setup menu. The best list of Australian carrier APN's I've found is at Ausdroid Forums. Modems are a sort of 'try them until you get one you're happy with' kind of thing, and if you're still in the dark, go and read Formhault's post about the subject at...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50787570&postcount=2549
My advice when it comes to modems is, grab a couple of CWM-flashable modems and take at least two days of testing each until you get one that gives you enwhitenment.
Hope that gets your device running smikko, and if you're that stuck you need a bit of special attention, PM me. Lastly, make sure to click on the Thanks button if you got help from this tutorial...

How to upgrade rooted Note 3 from 4.4.2 to current (Newbie here)

TL;DR Help a newbie with upgrading my rooted Note 3 from 4.4.2 to a more current version please. I'm old and dumb and really tried to find an answer before embarrassing myself on a forum of experts. Knowing me, the answer is probably right under my nose. Go easy on me <3
Hey guys,
I used the search function on this site and on google but was unable to find what I'm looking for.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with T-Mobile. I have Android aversion 4.4.2 and my model number is SM-N900T.
I rooted my phone using a guide I found on youtube to get superuser for the purpose of being able to play emulators on my phone, such as Snes9x EX+, Nostalgia.NES Lite, ePSXe, etc. They all work great. I am not using a custom ROM.
The problem I'm facing is that I don't understand if I need to unroot (correct term?) my phone and just get the auto updates, or to download and install them manually, but I'm unable to receive auto updates over the air as I'm sure you guys would know since this is your hobby and are versed in this sort of thing. I don't even know how to do either really properly but am not afraid to try.
The reason I'm wanting to upgrade now (which might be completely unrelated) is that I haven't been receiving text messages from either my sister or my roommate, whom both of their last messages were received by me on Aug. 5th. I tried contacting my carrier and they said they didn't detect a problem. Both of their carriers said the same thing (one being T-Mobile as well). I guess this is just another step in troubleshooting but I would like to believe this is a network issue.
Any advice would help and would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Is there a reliable way to root my S7 Edge SM-G935A?

I'm not very tech savvy, but rooting this model (S7 Edge SM-935A) seems to be hard according to what I have found. I would like to root it and get rid of all the bloatware and try a custom ROM, but don't want to mess things up. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks very much for any info.
I have an AT&T S7 Edge and wanted to get rid of the bloatware also. I installed this ROM and all is working great. I didn't root device but I have no bloatware. It also get's OTA updates quick.

Not really difficult. Need a special version of odin, modded by someone who goes by the alias Prince Comey. Then must rught click on the exe file in winblowz and select 'run as administrator'.
The non-modded versions will error out and won't complete the flashing process. Must be careful, and be sure that you are are flashing the correct files for your particular phone. I rooted my AT&T S7 Edge by flashing just one file.
The trickiest part is finding the files for your variant, whether it's AT&T, Verizon, or other. Also must install the usb driver for Samsung and the adb driver, both on your windows computer.

Text Message Recovery on S7 Edge (AT&T)
I have an AT&T Samsung S7 Edge (smg935a). I think I need to root mine so I can undelete my text messages. If I am headed in the right direction, can you provide links to the special Odin version and file you flashed?
I'm in the same boat and I think this is the link that leads to the Odin you want.

There is no engineering bootloader available for Oreo yet, so you will have to drop back to Nougat. From there, you can either go with AT&T firmware or the Unlocked firmware, depending on how badly you want WiFi calling and VoLTE. (If you aren't an AT&T customer, this is a really easy call).
Just going with the U firmware will remove the vast majority of the bloat right out of the box. You can root it and get the rest, but I haven't found it to be worth the effort, as the U firmware is pretty good as it is.

Samsung S7 edge and S7 flat variants do not allow TWRP to remain installed upon rebooting. There are ways to still root with it however. I found a post on X.D.A. that states SM-G935A ( AT&T variant of the 7s Edge ) runs fine after flashing the SM-G935U firmware. I had flashed it without issues myself, however I never tested it before running across the comboRom that I was originally looking for. Just place all 5 files in the correct positions ( BL,AP,CP,CSC,USER) of Odin. If Odin is only allowing you to 4 spots to flash. You need to use a different version of Odin. I used the "patched" version of Odin. Unsure if that is one and the same as the prince version.
S7 Edge while 'rooted' at least by the way I had rooted them. Runs very very HOT and lags to the point of annoyance.
So if you 'think' you need to root your phone. Make sure you need to first and fore most because was a back and forth headache to root. make changes, then unroot. then test. then root again. then test agian, then unroot.. etc.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/development/easyroot-unroot-t3859762
that link is for bootloader V4 to root.
When flashing SU make sure you use the system version and not the system-less version if you follow the instructions for OREO (Android version 8 ). The instructions I originally followed never stated that aspect and I had gone in circles for an hour until i discovered the problem.
Verizon variant had a few different ways to root/un-root, with different walk-thrus of which I 'think' would work with different carriers. Just instead of using the S935V firmware, You would just need to use your carriers firmware while flashing it with Odin but I could be wrong so please double check the comments of whichever way you choose to root your phone for someone else with similar question/concerns as yours.
If you had been using your phone after the messages were deleted ( especially if its been awhile since you deleted them ) then you are likely S.O.L. However if it's worth the time spent for you to try, then it's worth the effort to try.

This thread is only 1 page long with 10 previous posts before yours. Out of those 10 posts, 3-4 of them describes what you're seeking...
Guessing you saw the threads title and bcuz of that you clicked on it and asked your question. Did it ever dawn on you that your question is nearly identical to the title of this thread? This is how forums work, if a threads subject is similar to the subject that you're interested in then, the thread may contain your answer. Next, is where quite a few folks seem to really struggle, sort of like yourself but it's ok, everyone was new once. This is where you'd want to pay close attention, really concentrate and use every bit of brain power to focus on this next step. I'm going to reiterate, just in case I lost ya: You just located a thread that it's title is very similar to a question that you have (you did a good job searching & your instincts to click/open it are on point, well done). A threads title tells you that the discussion(s) inside there relate to that topic. Upon opening the thread, you'll see rectangles vertically aligned, when members add thoughts or ideas to the topic, they're separated by the rectangles. They're arranged in chronological order the top being the first, the most recent or latest entry being the bottom. And thats how forums like this one and many others work. Pretty simple idea, I think, yet its highly effective.
Now, with this knowledge, Im sure your already 10 steps ahead of me, but I'll mention anyway for anyone else. To fully utilize the resourceful contents here, as it contains vast amounts of invaluable info, one must simply READ and COMPREHEND info that pertains to the subject that brought you here. That means reading (& understanding what you just read), each one of the posts inside the threads. No really, it really is that simple! Unless your device is new, theres likely someone who already asked your question or someone already posted a set of instructions describing the task youre needing. You can test this theory with this same thread youve commented in.
Amazing isn't it? By now, you've probably already figured it out and concluded that posting your message which mirrors the first one here wasn't necessary, nor was including your phone number.. If it wasnt already obvious, you're the lone outcast whom shared their number on a public forum. Most of us here, refrain from such similar activity, since the forum has option to directly contact members via the internal private messaging system. Some highly value their privacy and anonymity. But I cant decide for you, obviously you're comfortable with it.
......
@Talysdaddy
So that was the most condescensing, egotistical, and just blatantly rude response I have ever seen given on this site.. I promise you, I have a very impressive ability to retain knowledge, but considering I was on this site in the first place due to the fact that I have never been interested in, or ever even attempted to mess with my phone before in any type of way, I am slightly uneducated on this PARTICULAR topic. However, that IS NOT because i lack the ability to learn, comprehend and/or retain information, understood?
It is due to the fact that I have never sat down and educated myself on it.. WHICH BY THE WAY, is WHY I'm on this site in the first place, you know that IS the entire PURPOSE of this site? ....
You see how that works? .. Let me break it down for you! Pay close attention and try to follow me and actually comprehend what I am saying! (if you're able to, that is). ANYWAYS, as I was saying, I CAME TO THIS SITE TO TRY TO EDUCATE MYSELF on something I NEEDED to educated on! ALSO to be able to interact with other people, and ask those people questions! To be able to recieve responses from those people, in order to obtain the information THAT I CAME HERE FOR! WHICH BY THE WAY, IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS SITE IS SUPPOSED TO BE USED FOR! Hopefully I have yet to lose you, because this is the most important part! Let's try to read this next part, and actually try and COMPREHEND and UNDERSTAND what I'm saying. I CAME HERE TO USE THIS WEBSITE IN THE EXACT WAY THAT IT IS MEANT TO BE USED! .. To be able to share information! To exchange information! And to obtain information that I am not privy to or an expert on prior to visiting the site!! .. If I was educated on these things I WOULD NOT BE HERE!! Obviously! Soooooo, instead of being an arrogant and cocky JERK, do EVERYONE on this site a huge FAVOR, and next time NOT leave such a RUDE, SMART COMMENT!! Thanks!
P.S. isn't it funny how just from that comment, I could tell you exactly what you look like, the life you live, how insecure you are in yourself, and how you deal with that by trying to belittle others, in an attempt to make yourself feel superior.. BUT, and yes, there is a BUT!! Just because you might know more about this topic than myself, absolutely does not make you ANY more intelligent than myself.. Because I promise, anybody who leaves the response that you left, when I am using the site for its specific purpose in the first place, welllll... let's just say anyone who would do that, and who would do it to boost their superiority complex as a defense to their pathetic insecurities, well, let's just say I would bet my life on the fact that my IQ would make yours look SORT OF like you TRIED to make me look and feel when you left that comment
That's all, hope you find something better to do with your time than this in the future.. it is kind of sad! If you're not here to help, then don't comment! That goes for everyone's posts! Jerk.

I don't have this variant and, to further clarify, the Galaxy S5 Japanese variant SCL23 is also known as the SM-G900J.
The following thread is specific to the SpaceX Firmware your referring to and would be the best bet in obtaining support and guidance for this specific Firmware.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3012414
With that guidance...
If you can open the Google Play Store, open it up and go to the Settings (within the Play Store itself) and at the bottom repetitively tap on the Build until you see a toast message towards the bottom of the screen.
Now close the Play Store and let the device sit for approximately 10-15 minutes and then reboot your device then open the Play Store again and you should notice that, if there was an update, it should have then been updated and will hopefully resolve your issue.
By tapping the Build in this way is just a manual way to get the Play Store to check for updates and update itself if there are any. This doesn't happen often but, can happen that would require the manual intervention to do so.
This is the best that I can help you with. Any further issues would require support from the above thread.
Good Luck!

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.
