[Q] Charger weirdness (using Note 2 charger) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I plug my charger that came with my phone into my phone and run the Galaxy Charging Current app (from the Play store).
It shows 1900 every time. I have unplugged it and plugged it back in numerous times and clicked Refresh and it always shows 1900.
Last night, I tried plugging my g/f's charger for her Note 2 into my phone. The first time, my phone said it was charging, but GCC showed 460. I unplugged and replugged a few times and each time after that it showed anywhere from 1600 - 1700, but it never showed 1900. I switched back and forth between hers and mine several times, plugging them both into the same wall outlet. Mine still showed 1900 every time.
I thought maybe it was a different charger that just looks the same, but the part numbers on them are identical. ETA-U90JWS
Each charger was connected via the cable that came with it. I guess I should have tried swapping cables, but I didn't think of that at the time.
Any idea what's up with that? Shouldn't the charger from a Note 2 work just the same as the charger that came with my S4?

[Q] Battery not charging?

I got my Nexus 7 yesterday (bought from Google Play), I played with it, installed apps, etc.... at about 11pm I plug it in to my factory charger which is on a surge protector, it proceeds to charge while I continue using it for 2 hour or so. When I went to bed I turned it off. I noticed the charging indicator (battery filling up). When I got home today I unlugged it and tried to turn it on...Nothing, so I plugged it into my computer, the charging indicator came up, I waited 5 minutes and turned it on, I then went to the store and when I got back I went to plug it straight to the wall for a faster charge, when I moved it it immediately powered off. After 5 min of "charging" I powered on and went to the battery summary page, it says 0% charging (AC). Its been here for about 30 min now, the usage graph shows a flat red line. Is my battery defective?
Nevermind. False alarm, thank God.:victory: My usb extension cable seems to be the problem. Also if anyone is curious, the htc usb cable works fine and is longer.
My Nexus 7 won't charge. I've tried 3 chargers, including the provided one, all of which work on several phones, but none work on the Nexus 7. And it's been a tedious few hours in a queue on the phone trying to get hold of anything to even start the returns process. I can only assume the stories you see when you google 'nexus 7 fault' are true and that many, many people are queueing up to get their faulty unit refunded or replaced. It's a shame - I've played with a working one and it's very nice.
I've had a similar problem for a few days now. When its plugged in, on or off, it will only gain afew percent battery even over a full24 hours. I broke the tip of my stock cable, so thats not an option but ive tried with several other cables with the same results. I'm afraid to use this thing any more unless its plugged in so since it may not charge once it dies. Did you ever solve your problem?

Wouldn't charge

So I ran into a problem with this today, battery had run out on it last night so I set it on the OEM charger with a generic microUSB cable I had laying around that does work on other devices. Wake up today, and it wouldn't turn on. However, the charging animation would occasionally pop up, and at one point I got it to boot up, where it stayed at 0% battery the entire time.
Switched it out to the 1A charger that came with my Kodak camera, using the same USB cable, same deal.
Switched it to a USB port on a powered hub, different cable that again does work on other devices, still the same deal.
Switched it back to the OEM charger with the OEM cable, still wouldn't charge, but would turn on. Twenty minutes of it being on (screen off) and no charge, checked back and maybe another ten minutes later it was up to ten percent.
Any idea what happened?
Also, is there any word with what's going on with the dead spots on the screens on these yet? Mine recently started doing it.

Wall charger no longer works

Have had my ATT S4 since ot was first released in the US in late April. All the while, i have been charging using 2 or 3 samsung chargers that i used for my previous Infuse. One morning, i woke up, grabbed my phone off the charger and it didnt charge. Had not previously had this problem. Phone always charged rather quickly. Phone will not acknowledge the charger when it is plugged into a wall, even the charger packaged with my S4.
Fnny thing is that if i plug the USB into a computer that is charging, my battery charges. Not nearly a far as it did before, probably twice as long until 100%. so, i can charge via computer and usb....thats is.
I am rooted and do mot want to have to unroot and go into ATT store and deal with the nuisance of getting a new phone.
Anyone else having this problem? Was not able to find much in archives. Have seen some others mention this on yahoo/andriod aite or two but not a lot of info on why and if there is a work around.
It look like a faulty charger, borrow a friends and find out for certain, if you dont want to go into a store to have it checked out, just buy another charger from ebay/amazon.
John.
No, not a charger issue. I have tried about 4 different chargers and a docking station. No dice. Only USB works.
I have the same issue with International I9505.
Even with PC or Laptop - it sometime charges sometime not.
When connected to PC or Laptop, the device is not being recognized as I cant transfer the files.
It happened when I drained my I9505 up to 5% and then switched off and then connected to wall charger.
Then when I woke up in the morning, it showed only 33% - I was surprised. Then I again tried to charge - it didnt get recognized.
Any solution? I am planning to do the factory reset.
I dont think its charger or hardware issue as I recently upgraded through OTA and facing different issue like this one and also the 3G

[Q] Incompatible Charger, Charging stopped to prevent damage to phone?

If you didnt know already, this is for the LG G2. I've recently come upon this problem this morning. It was dead so i plugged it in while i got ready for school and i came back around 5 minutes later to see this message: "The connected charger is incompatible with this phone. To prevent damage to your phone, charging has been stopped. To continue charging, use the charger and cable that were provided with this phone." The thing is, it's the charger that has been provided AND it has worked before, multiple times. it only happened this morning and ive charged quite a few times before this. I've tried plugging it into my computer and the thing that plugs into the wall and they both show the same thing. It shows it's charging for around 10 seconds before that message appears, too. Any ideas?
--------I borrowed my brothers charger to see if it would charge and it charges normally. It seems my charger is defective so dont bother responding i fixed it -_-'

Finicky charging?

So we've been combatting some finicky charging issues with my wife's new S5 for the past week.
I've worked out a lot of the weirdness due to the fact that my HTC M8's charging brick apparently doesn't work with anything other than the M8 (I have no idea yet what is different about it... 1.5A).
Anyway, despite this we have had no issues using the supplied charger/cable (only used it on first day).
We haven't had any issues using an old Droid 2 charger and cable (1.0 A I think)...although likely it was a slow charge.
But, since we've been out of town for a few days without all our cables, the only think that has worked with NO issue is using a 2.1A output power brick to recharge the phone. Also, it seems that the 2.1A iPad charger worked as well.
What is weird is we also tried 2 identical 1A iPhone charges. Upon first plugin with a 10' 24/28AWG cable, it didn't charge. I removed it and plugged it into the other one and it began charging. I then removed it and plugged it back in the first and it started to charge fine (and yes, I tripled check the connection on the first try).
In short, we seem to just have very strange results. Sometimes it will say it is charging for a few seconds and then stop and sometimes it will not charge using a certain combination, but when you unplug it, try something else, then back to the first it will work!
We've also had issues with the charger in the car where it would keep blinking her phone on and off with a sound. I suspect that this was due to a slow charge bringing the phone to full charge, then dropping (even though plugged in), then going back to full again. But this is just based on what my wife described.
Can anyone explain and/or tell me what the minimum required and the recommended specifications are for a charger/cable on this phone?
