Hey everyone
I already educated myself on where to find the bootanimation of our GS4 and on how to make one myself. It's in /system/media.
And there is a How To here on XDA.
But where can I find the Boot Logo aka Splash Screen?
What would have to be done to change it?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for your answer.
And since I'm here to educate myself I'll just go on asking:
I understand that for an inexperienced user playing around with an essential file/partition like sboot.bin it can get very messy very fast.
That said, I wonder how hard it could be to to exchange a simple picture, or respectively how it could hurt the file structure?
(Just to avoid being misunderstood (cause English is not my mother tongue): I'm not some kiddo that arrogantly thinks, that it can't be too hard to hack a phone and put your own stuff on it
This is an honest question I'd expect an honest answer to. I'm really interested and try to wrap my head around developing a little more every day.)
Anyhoo, since I'm a customization freak I'm off now to educate myself even more and see what I can find out about that "sboot.bin" partition on my own.
*Edit: o.k. - I already had an idea, but now I know for sure what a Bootloader is.
So here are some additional question:
• Does every ROM come with a bootloader?
• I understand from what I read, that it can be flashed if necessary, correct? - oh, I just saw that ODIN has an extra slot for Bootloader, that kind of makes this question obsolete
• Here is an excerpt of a failed ODIN flash (NOT MINE! =) )

From what i can see here I assume that if a ROM has a bootloader included, one could find it in the unzipped ROM file right along with the cache, hidden and recovery image files?
Or is it inside of on of the images (probably the boot.img, eh?)...
Sboot.bin can be in stock ROM and it can not. It comes alone not with other file since it is a separate partition.
In s4 stock ROMs, sboot.bin is not included, but I noticed that it is included only in Chinese firmware, when flashed, the bootloader becomes in Chinese language and the boot splash name will change. Only it can be changed by flashing another sboot.bin file.

So here is my story, i tried to install a new rom via rom manager.
It was all going well until i hit the back button (stupid).
The phone was not responding so i pulled the battery out.
Tried to boot and then i got this:

Yes, i know that's normal
Then i got this:
When i touch the power button the screen goes off.
When i touch it again you will see the screen again.
So then i boot into Recovery with the "!" screen.
1. Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.
2. Flash zip from sd
But then i get this error: Nohup
Can someone please help me?
Can you get into USB fastboot?

CWM is the only recovery image for the Legend. So many issues could be solved if people just used fakeflash.
Well if you look at it that way It would be really nice if there was a stickie called "FakeFlash: try this before you ask !" in bold red size 25 text
edit: in every one of those 4 forums
Fake flash is in the roll-up sticky in the dev section
Yes, but not in red bold font In this way I kinda like modaco's pinned topics

First thing, wrong section to be posting this. Second, you should read up long and hard before trying stuff you don't know about. Third, it's almost impossible to brick your nexus 7 because you can usually recover any android device through fastboot.

first off use this toolkit to fix your tablet. This toolkit has everything you need.
With the above program you can insure that your rooted and unlocked. And use TRWP not CWM as your recovery.
P.S. do you know how to get into fastboot mode?
hold volume down and power it on, when it comes up you'll know. use the volume to select which mode.
i Try it
Good lord. Please stop modding your device.
Hey guys, I'm having the same problem with OP, my problem now is it return to the stage before it flash after it flashed. Which means that it shows that it is successfully flashing the stock rom, but when it reboots, it didn't. It goes back to the stage where the rom was before it was flashed. Anybody help please?
I know it can be irritating, but I wish the indignation could be dialed back around here.
I have seen the spam from this poster, yes he should quit the over posting. But to tell someone just to go away and stop, well, I feel differently.
Stay, learn. But research first, you know? And post once then wait for a reply.
As you can see, your current tactics are just making the natives restless.
Being an ESL noob isn't a crime, maybe this person will end up developing the ROM you run next year.
I thought Linux was some sort of specialized hardware earlier in this calender year.
Hello
First of all I must say that I am a complete noob at dealing woth custom roms and all that.
A while ago I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I don`t remember exactly how I did it, and I did not take any backups. Yesterday I managed to delete my rom on the phone, so now I cant get past the samsung logo on startup. I have tried to go into recovery mode, but the problem is that I dont have a rom or backup on my phone so I cant do anything. I have tried to plug my phone into my computer to transfer a rom over as a .zip file, but my computer cant access my phone. I am very frustrated since I cant use my phone now .__. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am sorry if my description is poorly, but I cant think of any other way to put it.
Thanks in advanced for any help!

1. You're in the wrong forum!!!! This is for the Galaxy SIV, not the Galaxy Nexus
2. Try to mount your sd/internal memory in recovery to transfer a new rom

Hey fellas, I just bought my S4 yesterday and rooted it as soon as I got home. I want to flash another ROM to it, but I am afraid the imei might disappear etc.
I have searched the forum but not found a really good answer. Some people claim you only have to copy the EFS folder in root explorer and save it on your SD-card. Some people say you have to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41559366&postcount=2
That didn't work on my i9505 (rooted with CF-auto-root).
So, how do I properly take a backup of the EFS and IMEI stuff before I start playing around with ROMs etc?

That's the Splash Screen, you can both change it to a image you like or to a black one (and in both cases it is not very easy to do even though there are some threads) but you can no t remove it.

Can you tell me where can i find it in system directory?
It won't be found anywhere. The Galaxy S4 splash screen is in the low level firmware and as noted is difficult to access. The boot animation that comes after this screen can be changed however as it's part of the ROM.

i found this:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938988
And that tool may work. It also may brick your phone. When I said the file wasn't found anywhere in /system, that is because where it is located most people don't touch: the bootloader, which is low-level firmware. Making changes to the bootloader is not recommended as you can very easily brick your S4 if you don't know what you're doing.
The reward here is insufficient compared to the risk, but if you want to try it, have fun.
Thanks
