I've just got my new s4 and a case .i love it but when i put my phone to the case the screen just turns black.any ideas??

looks like your case is recognized by the phone as a flip cover causing only the top of your screen to work when it is on...

If you take a look at the bottom of this screen capture you can see a diagonal design on the notification pull down. Is this normal? It caught my eye as an odd design choice hence I ask.

I tried searching this but every answer was pc related. Ok, randomly when watching YouTube a grey border appears (see screenshot) and then every video after that it stays. Wtf is it? And how do I make it stop

Yes I did, the same log still showed up.
