Interestingly this app works (phone must be rooted):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mohammadag.samsungusbmassstorageenabler
just tested on my galaxy s4 GT-I9505 supposed to work on GT-9500 as well
it mounts the external sd card only, but thats better than nothing
USB mass storage I9505
Actually it did mount the External SD card. Which what i really wanted. This app works for me. I have a rooted I9505.
yea thats what i meant, it mounts the external sd card, which is also fine by me (edited my first post to reflect that)

Hi have a problem hope someone can help me, just connected the phone to the pc through usb but cant seem to see the inbuilt ROM. I've gonne into the phone settings and selected mass storage connection setting but still nothing.
I'm running Win7 32bit,
Thx
with mass storage you can only see the SD Card I believe (not 100% sure but that's how it is on my HTC Magic)
I think to see the inbuilt ROM you have to open it with Kies
if i plug my omnia in it shows both inbuilt an sd memory so dont know why its doing this...

That is because the Magic doesn't have any extendend internal memory. You can't see the system/apps partition with mass storage. On the Galaxy S, 2 GB of the internal 8 or 16 GB are reserved for that, the rest (6 or 14 GB) is extended internal storage - like a non-removable SD card. With mass storage, you should see that and the SD card.

on the galaxy1 you also see the internal 8GB as a standard mass storage on the PC.
Take the sd card out and try maybe ???
good to know thank you phew =D I hope it works with the galaxy S also
put one in. can't seem to find it.
do i need to format or something?
If you are connecting to the tablet via USB mass storage, you will initially see the internal storage of the device. On mine there is then an 'external_sd' folder (link) in that volume that re-directs to the microSD storage.
/sdcard/external_sd
It's a really irritating way to mount the internal and external storage actually. Buy hey, what can you do?
Hello. There is one thing that doesn't really work well by me: if I plug the phone (usb) and choose the mobile archive function, windows 7 detects 2 thing:
- space volume of 12 GB (the phone?)
- MICROSD32 (the name i used when i formatted it), which is 32 GB
The problem is that not the whole microsd is mounted: from the file browser on the phone, I can see that the micro sd is there, and then there is a folder named 'external_sd', and THAT folder is the folder that is been mounted on windows.
This doesn't allow me to read/write data files on the sd (application files, savegames, and so on)....because it doesn't mount that part of the micro sd.
Is there a way to fix this? I am always forced to copy/cut/paste things from the phone file browser...to get to the micro sd root...
And BTW i have root access now. if that can make a difference with this.
I just noticed that I am wrong, and BOTH volumes belong to the same micro sd....the mobile storage 12GB is the root of the microsd, while the other 32 GB volume....is also the microsd....but the external-sd folder....why this partitioning?????
external_sd is where your 32 giga micro sd should be mounted, if you're browsing from the phone.
You should have checked the option 'usb debugging ' in menu/applications/development'. Then connect the phone to pc and you should see the both internal and external storage.

It doesn't happen. I have usb debugging, but it mounts the micro sd as two volumes : 12 GB and 32 GB...which is impossible.
Also browsing from the phone, the mircrosd (sdcard) has an internal folder named 'external_sd'....weird.
Maybe I should reformat the card from the phone? I formatted from the computer before putting it in the phone...but it was completely empty.

How can i swap Galaxy S4 internal storage with external SD card please?
It's not possible for now. I'm working on it but for now only using mount folder app is a solution

If yours is S4 I9500, may be you can try this:
Hello
I own Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 and it is rooted. I recently purchased a class 10 Sandisk Micro SD card with 64 GB capacity. I was very happy that I did but my happiness did not last long when I have come to know that 3rd party apps do not have write permission in Kitkat. After some research I was successful to make the SD card writable to 3rd party apps by modifying the permissions.xml file.
Everything seems to be fine at this time but it was not actually. The SD card when seen under storage in settings would show me that it is mounted with 62.5 GB capacity and 60 GB free. But when I try to browse the files in SD card, there are nothing. Apps saved in SD card do not open and I am also unable to capture images from camera to SD card storage.
I thought may be unmounting the SD card and mounting it back would work and it worked but after a while the same problem. My device shows that it has mounted an SD card but cannot access anything saved in it. So, I have to unmount and mount SD card every time and this is very much annoying.
Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks you for your time.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes. It is Ex FAT format. Which format should I format it to? Ex FAT or just the FAT format.
It is not about applications. The card just gets undetected after some time and nothing can be accessed including music and images. I have to unmount it and mount again for the device to detect the SD card.
Format your SD Card on your phone its self. Go to settings, storage and than SD Card and format it.
