Guys, thanks in advance for the support. My phone is the Nexus S i9020A. There is a recent update (8/1/2012) for the Google Wallet, which can now facilitate all the major credit cards. How can I manually update the app on my phone? I got the app from a link on the forum, because trying to get it from the Google Play Store had given a message about the version not being compatible with my device at the time; the app is not listed in, "My Android Apps", in the Google play store. I've already tried doing the update from the app settings on my phone. Much thanks and appreciation.

I thought it was supported on 9020a. Or better yet any 9020 as long as it was on att network at the time. Anyways either I am wrong it it has changed.
Either way just side loading the app should work just fine.
albundy2010, thanks and much appreciation. Actually, I got my unlocked nx s from Amazon. Where can I get the updated Google Wallet app to side load onto my device? I use the app almost every day with a daily balance, and would prefer an update as the first choice. Much thanks.

There is post with it on the nexus s themes and app forum.
Thanks and much appreciation. I'll look it up in a bit.

should still work even if your unlocked/ rooted mine does
It's working. I just need the latest update, but the WP update button on my phone is not highlighted to let me do it. I did not get the app from the play store so its not listed on "My Android Apps"

Hi guys, thanks for the support. I spoke with someone from the Google Wallet support team, and was told that I will no longer be able use GW on my unlocked Nexus S i9020a; it is because of the latest update which don't support the device. Actually, I felt embarrassed when it failed to function at a 7 Eleven, and which was the reason I called. Unless there's an .apk file for the latest update that could be found, perhaps on this or another forum, I'm done with the GW. (Still got a balance to retrieve). Much thanks and appreciation to the forum for all the support.

It works.
albundy2010, You're good! Thanks a million. I am just overwhelmed as a result of your quick and timely response to facilitate me getting the recent update for Google Wallet. I've already downloaded the app. I had to check the box to allow for installing from outside of the play store. It updated perfectly, and included all my personal settings from the outdated app. I now have to test it at the store, and will post to let you know how it worked out. I am very, very grateful to you and the forum for the support . Much thanks and appreciation.

albundy2010, it worked perfect at the CVS store. In fact, it was smooth and without lag; much better than the previous version. A million thanks and much appreciation.

Guys, thanks in advance. There's an update for Google Wallet, version 1.5-R79-V5...Sep 5, 2012. Is there a file available for the nexus s i9020a? Much appreciation and thanks for the sharing.

I am having issues getting Google Wallet set up on my Nexus 10. I just received it today, and it sits on the "Setting up Wallet, this may take up to 5 minutes" screen for what seems like forever, then I get a message "Device Not Ready-Wallet is unable to proceed until this device is fully initialized. Make sure the phone has network access and try rebooting it if the problem persists", well the network is 100% A OK, and the device is fully initialized, so I'm not sure what the issue is, and I have rebooted it a few times and even cleared data and cache on the Wallet program, to no avail. Is anybody else having this issue?
If your under a custom rom, that could be the reason why its not working. I have Google wallet on my rooted stock SG3 and it says unsupported device but it still works.

It's the stock ROM, just rooted, unlocked bootloader and recovery.
It still won't set up as of this morning, it's not a hardware problem because the NFC works just fine, I guess I'll have to talk to Google.
Well, I fixed it! I went into Titanium and uninstalled it, installed the version in the Play Store, and then opened it up and WHAM, it worked! Maybe the one on the device was corrupt, or uninstalling then re installing cleared out some errors, what do you guys think?
Edit-I don't know that I'll use it on my Nexus 10, as I have it installed and working on my SGS3 (AT&T), but it's nice to have the option, and it was bugging me not being able to get it working lol
Glad you figured it out! Sometimes its as simple as uninstalling then reinstalling go figure.

Just wondering... Why do you want Google Wallet on your N10? Do you have the 3g version and carry it around all day?

Coolness factor
In any case, my wallet seems to be stuck also on "Setting up Wallet". I've tried CM10.1, some other custom ROM, and stock, and tried a few different wallet apps on CM10.1, to no avail so far.
Edit: My NFC still appears to work; I can wave my credit card near the NFC sensor on the N10, and it'll make a sound.
Try uninstalling wallet with titanium backup and reinstall from the play store. Worked for me today on my rooted sprint galaxy nexus.

Tried your suggestion and it let me sign in and setup a PIN. However, it errors out when trying to add cards. It also says that I'm using an unsupported device (Nexus 4).

I'm having the same issue. I've tried everything short of editing the build prop as some have done in the past with other devices (I have a nexus 4), and probably would even do that if some other person with an N4 did it and had success. Tried multiple ROMs and multiple versions of Wallet with no luck. I either get the "Setting up wait 5 minutes, device not initalized" issue or the "request failed" at the add card error. Put in for a replacement yesterday, so hopefully the new one doesn't have the issue. If so, then we know that there are just some lemon N4's out there.
first, I got this wallet apk from the dev paulobrien here at xda. I don't have the link to his site at the moment. now, onto the fun stuff. to begin with, uninstall any previous wallet app. next, using root explorer drop this apk into the /system/app directory and change the permissions to match the other apps. now, reboot and enjoy the odd looks of cashiers when you pay with your awesome tablet!
I found the link for anyone who is wary.

Every time I load up Google wallet it says unsupported device. Will it still work if I want to make a payment at a store?

yes it will work
Yes. I did it last night.
I thought that you need to temporarily unroot your phone in order to use Google Wallet?
No, there's no problem with root. It'll just say unsupported device, but Google Wallet works just like normal.
Yup, you can use it with no problems. Ive used it more than 10 times when i went on my christmas shopping. Its so awesome. Cashier's face is priceless when they see you pull out the phone to pay. Lol.

Nope, that would be renting / buying videos from the Play Store.
I recently installed CM 10.1 M1 on my Nexus 4 (coming from stock). Google wallet worked just fine before I switched to CM, but since the switch Wallet has been force closing after the "Select an account" (the very first thing that Wallet opens to) part of the setup. I have an account selected, but as soon as I hit continue, Wallet crashes. I have tried another account and it works on my Nexus 7. Has anyone else had this problem and is there any way of fixing it? Thanks!
The Google wallet in the Play store is older than the one the ships with the phone.
Install this one: http://d-h.st/pyr
There was an update to wallet today. I tested it and it works with initial sign in. Disregard my previous post and use the one from the play store.

I've been really digging for a modded google wallet for the note 3 that allows use of nfc. The S4 guys have a modded flashable wallet and I thought why the hell I'll try and needless to say that broke NFC and made the phone pretty unusable.
Has there been any promising or working work around I may have missed from other device forums

From what I read it can't be done because of the way Verizon has the nfc/secure element on the sim. My reason might be off but I know I read it cant be done. Isis works as an acceptable replacement

Does anyone have the corrwct apk? It's not compatible in Google play anymore with the N3. One Verizon rep told me the other day it was.

Possible solution
Unless the device is running 4.4 or CM 9/ 10.1 , the Note won't have the required NFC libraries to allow for HCE. Rooting doesn't rellay make any difference as the libraries were needed at the time of compiling the image file.
Hope this helps
