Does anyone else have these issues?
I will be listening to music thru my headphones, and then pause it for a minute or two. Then when I press play the phone doesn't play. I have to pick up the phone and physically press a button to 'wake' the phone. And then instantly the previous click registers and it starts playing.
This is a huge issue. I stop and start my player 50+ of times during a gym session.
Any help would be appreciated.
The wierd part is that it doesn't always not work. Sometimes I can't reproduce the problem, most times I can though.
Could it be a program I have that is keeping the music player from keeping the phone out of deep sleep so it responds to the clicks?

Ok, I just figured out why sometimes I can press play during sleep and it works and why other times it doesn't.
If the music app is the main app on the screen at the time that I put the phone to sleep, then the buttons work even after the phone goes to sleep. However if its backgrounded by pressing the home button or if I just started the music using the lockscreen, then there is the issue of it not responding.
Hopefully that helps anyone else with this issue.
Any insite on fixes for this?
My headset buttons do not work while the screen is on...

When i had my Wizard (k-jam) i would use TCPMP to play music through my Bluetake iPhono Mini Bluetooth Headphones. When i pressed the power button to enter standby mode the music would continue to play.
Now i have my nice new JasJam, i try to do the same however as soon as i press the power button it seems to enter a deep standby mode and the music stops.
When playing music i now have to remember to lock it everytime i put it in the belt holder or my pocket to stop opening applications and as the backlight keeps turning on it chews through the battery life.
So does anyone know of a way to keep music playing while in standby? Is this a hardware limitation of the Hermes?
Cheers
I am running the Imate Telstra (AUS) 1.3.1 ROM

I use mortplayer, this is one of it's many features
Thanks pof, i'll give it a go.
I'm still curious why this worked with TCPMP / WMP on a rom with same AKU (2.3) on Wizard but will not work on the Hermes. Sometimes i think HTC must be half asleep when looking at certain aspects of new devices..
Never had a wizard, but the BlueAngel had the same problem as the Hermes has...
wmp and spbpocketplus have this feature
if you assign a button to this in wmp, you can use 'screen toggle' and it both turns off the display and locks buttons except the dpad. I use this daily to play music. played for 5 hours today and down to 90%.
(i was on gprs at the time)
spbpocketplus also has a screen toggle function that you could use. it does exactly the same thing.

Thanks, i didnt even think about the Pocket+ screen toggle feature (i guess i was hoping for a reg hack). I tried the Pocket+ feature and it actually locks all buttons except power so this should sort me out.

I tried to assigned a button going through the WMP's options>buttons>toggle screen, but it did not let me. Do I have to install the spbpocketplus to accomplish this?
I had the SX66 before and now moved to the Cingular 8525. My SX66 was able to go to the standby mode while playing th WMP by turning the power switch off. The screen got dimmed and all the button except the power button became disable. I don't exactly remember why mine could, but mine had the latest ROM and etc. It was a nice function and I miss it...........
My phone is always waking up for odd reasons (AVRCP commands, switching in and out of roaming, etc...), and I can't seem to get the darned thing to stay OFF.
Music A2DP streaming is the biggest deal to me, because not only will the device wake up when I press a remote command (on my AVRCP headset), it will also keep the device backlight on indefinitely. This is clearly shortening my battery.
I tried Slide2Unlock, and have it set to shut off the display if no activity for 5 sec., but the problem is that Slide2Unlock appears to not notice when it is woken up, and just sits there without turning the screen back off again! (a simple screen press brings Slide2U back to life, and then it will toggle the screen... but this defeats the purpose!)
There must be SOMETHING I'm missing here... doesn't anyone else have this problem???
I have 2 things for you. The first, is if you're using WM6 that's a known issue and unchecking the today timeout in start-->settings-->today-->items tab should solve most of your problems. The second is a little program that I found (not sure where at , but it might have been on here) called screen off. Install it and then set it to a hardware button and it will allow you to turn just your screen off whenever you don't need it on.
Maybe it depends on the player you're using? With Coreplayer, my phone's screen just flashes on and off quickly when it receives an AVRCP command.
Still doesn't explain the roaming thing though.

Yes, I'm using WM6 on a HTC Titan (Sprint Mogul).
I don't currently timeout to the today screen, but I don't see how that would cause my problem really- I've heard people mention that before, so can anyone explain what difference that would make?
I already have a shortcut to screen toggle (wrote my own MortScript to do it). That's not a problem anyway since every media player can assign a button to toggle the screen- The problem is that it keeps turning the screen back on when a button is pressed no matter how many times I toggle!!
Plastriq, I've heard that coreplayer does that... that's how they deal with this problem. They're the only ones that have addressed it as far as I know, and I'm not about to pay for their app when I already have TCPMP and WMP for free.
I just can't believe that there haven't been more practical ways around this yet!
hey so todays the first day i used the td2 as a music player. i already had the power and screen savings to make teh screen automatically shut off after 1 minute of inactivity. but i had music playing from teh tf3d and after about an hour, my battery was almost depleted because the screendidnt turn of the whole time. is it just my device? or is there a setting for this?
Go check settings > personal > power/battery and see what the settings for the screen are there.
backlight off after 10s, turn off screen after 1 min, and autobacklight check, thats about all taht there is in power settings
it is just a standard behavior.

No it is not, I've checked on my phone and the screen turns off in both WMP and TF3D2 music player (music does not stop when screen goes off either) so I don't know what you're talking about. BUT, when I press the powerbutton manually so the screen goes off, the music stops.

If your listening with headphones, then even on pressing poer button manually doesn't stops the music...but if hearing through phone speaker, then it stops....this is true for TF3D2 music player atleast...

Download some other media player like Nitrogen or Coreplayer where you can set the option to keep play music even if device is in sleep mode or w/e.
Hi,
If I don't have my mp3 player with me, there is still some music on my phone. The annoying thing is, it turns off always when I turn off the screen of the device. I am using the original htc player. I don't want to have the screen on, because the phone is in my pocket and it opens all possible stuff while I am moving. Is there a solution to that, or do I need a different player?
download slide 2 play. it is free and does everything you want it to do.
This happens because when you hit the power button you are suspending the device. What you want to do (to keep the music playing) is just turn the screen off without actually suspending the device. Find a program to toggle the screen.

Hi. I'm having an issue with my Verizon S5 where the screen turns on randomly, sometimes a few times a minute, for no apparent reason. Researching the issue, I found a lot of people said the reason they found was that the charge port was bent slightly and after bending it back it fixed the issue. They noticed the screen would behave when it was plugged in because all the connections were forced into their proper places by the charger. However, mine turns on and off regardless of whether or not it is plugged in. I downloaded Wakelock Detector to try to see if there were any apps forcing my screen to wake up but it only listed a couple apps and processes and, combined, they didn't come anywhere near the number of times my screen was woken up. Interestingly, the same day I noticed this problem, my home button also stopped working. It will not turn on the screen when off and it will not bring me to the home screen when the screen is on. I thought maybe it was occasionally functioning, causing my screen to turn on. However, I have never experienced the opposite issue; I have never been using my phone with the screen on and had it suddenly bring me to the home screen. Also, oddly my screen does not have this issue when I am playing music either through the speaker or via bluetooth. If I have music playing, the screen never turns on randomly. If I pause my music, the issue returns and my screen turns on randomly unless I resume my music.
The fact that it doesn't do it while playing music (either over bluetooth or through the speaker) means it must be a software issue rather than a hardware issue. The fact that my home button stopped working at the same time seems to make it seem like a hardware issue but maybe my home button not functioning and my screen turning on and off randomly are both part of the same software issue? I have attached a screenshot of my current version of Android and other details.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Generally, I'd recommend a factory reset just to make sure whether it is or not a software issue.
If the issue is not solved, return the phone.

I was able to fix the problem so I thought I might as well share. I replaced the circuit board that goes under the home button (cost about 10 bucks lol). This is not the home button and cable itself. If you disassemble the S5 to the point where you can see the motherboard, the circuit board at the bottom with the charge port, capacitive buttons, and home button contact is the one I replaced. Hope this helps others with similar issues get working in the right direction. Be very careful disassembling your S5 if you decide to try this route.
