Rebooting when transferring data from PC - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just recently received a brand new Nexus 7 32GB Wi-Fi version but I have been having trouble transferring files from my PC to the Nexus.
With stock ROM (4.22.) and Kernel the tablet would randomly reboot while tranferring files through MTP (various cables) and through AirDroid. Once rooted with Franco Kernel and CM10.1 Nightly the same thing still happens. I have tried transferring different files of various formats and sizes. The results are very random. Some of them do copy over without crashing but most of the time the tablet reboots itself midway through through the process.
I would be glad if someone could help me out with this one!

To anyone interested or similar problems,
I sent the Nexus 7 to Asus for a RMA to Holland and came back as NTF. I just requested another RMA and this time they are sending it to a tech center in Sevilla, Spain.
Am I really the only person witht his problem?

[Q] NFC stopped working. Is there a way to determine if issue is HW or SW ?

Hello folks,
I've been using a few builds of ParanoidAndroid on my 16gb N7 (grouper) for quite some time.
Last update, thou, has broken my tab's NFC. Whatever NFC signal I try to use (tag, N4, Gnex), nothing happens, not even an error message. I tried several restoration and full wipes with no success and then decided I might as well go back to stock since 4.2.2 seems to fix most issues I had with it.
So I flashed the latest factory image, with a clean install (manually erased boot, system, userdata, etc. thru fastboot) and the problem is still here ! I performed 2 more factory reset without any success.
So before I return my tab (and that will be annoying cause it's probably gonna take them a month before it comes back), is there a way that would help me check if the problem is hardware or sofware related ? If it's software, there has to be a way I can fix it myself, so I won't bother send it to be repaired.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot to anyone.
(and sorry if this question already exists, I couldn't find a thread about it).
You've already eliminated the probability of it being software.

HAVING EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM!
The only workaround as of now for me was to split data and transfer.
While transferring images, i had to transfer 50-60 at a time. It wouldnt take more than 100!

Kinda similar thing...
I'm having a similar issue. In fact I'm trying to copy an updated ROM to my Nexus 4 that is already running 4.4 KRT16S which has a size of 486 MB and I get the same popup and the copy process doesn't even start.

[Q] Nexus 4 Picture Copy Problem

Hi guys , I've got a problem with my Nexus 4. Basically whenever I try to copy over my pictures using the standard MTP method It'll crash and say my device isn't responding or not compatible to transfer with my PC. When I first got my phone it was all fine but recently it's given me these problems. Even if I use the PTP method still crashes. I'm running Kitkat 4.4.2 with Franco's Kernel and everything else is stock.
Any solutions?
Thanks

need help with my nexus 7 2012

hello everyone.
i have a nexus 7 2012 (grouper) tablet and ever since i got 4.4.4 stock it is really lagging on me. so i am thinking of rooting it and trying a mod such as paronoid android or cyanogenmod. anyone have any recommendations on what mods to go with and will these mods help me with my lagging problem with the latest stock build?
Thanks
I recommend M-Kernel and ALL F2FS. But as always try yourself and decide which combination works for you the best.
Had similar issues with mine, was ready to throw it at the wall. I did all the tricks people recommended for stock devices like formatting the cache partition, nothing worked. Finally I just gave up and did a factory reset. Now it runs like it did when it was new.
Hi!
I have used wugfresh nexus 7 root toolkit on every upgrade with a factory reset, and the n7 is as good / fast as ever. Is a PITA having to restore everything, I know, but if you are getting serious lag maybe it's worth trying.
BTW, rooting you get USB OTG via stickmount, which I could not live without.
Same problem here. I think it has to do with the low memory issue, cause I have a lot of stuff on it. I'm just going to start from scratch, because no matter what rom/kernel combination I use along with fstrim every boot, it lags like crazy.
need help
I got my Nexus 7 2012 last week. I just rooted it and loaded up CandyKat 4.4.4 ROM. Overclocked it to 1500mhz and it runs great. At least 25% faster than stock. All the vendor crap has been removed. Very smooth and stable ROM and you don't have to convert to F2FS. (That being said, I've read that F2FS does give you better performance. CM11 ROMs require that and I typically run CM1x ROMS.)
Good luck.
What vendor crap are you talking about?
low memory on NEXUS 7 running on Android 4.4.4
Dear all, i have a rooted 32gB nexus 7 running with Android 4.4.4, I am constantly getting 'unable to complete operation due to low memory' message when trying to attach a file from my usb storage device. I used cache cleaner but problem persisted; i also use ES File explorer but same problem is occuring.
Any help is appreciated! Is there a fix to this problem? Why doesn't android take care of memory issues itself? i mean like a smart operating system? Am stuck and any help is appreciated, also, using my usb with the tablet is a must for my work. Thks.

ZTE A470 Bootloop

Well, hello there! So,i got this phone as a gift a while ago(from Italy),everything was working fine but one day i got a bootloop and phone would just hang at the ''TIM'' logo...I thought it was just a bug,i deleted the data/cache but nothing, left it for 4 hours and nothing happened...After searching everywhere for a copy of the stock rom with no luck,i went ahead and installed the A460 stock rom and i was surprised that it booted, but only with one problem, the touchscreen is not working and i cannot use an OTG cable to control it with mouse/keyboard. Could it be the the hardware,or the software (i guess that a460 has a different touchscreen and the drivers are different in the rom)? If someone could provide me with a copy of the stock rom it would be welcome. Have a nice day!
