DONT DOWNLOAD ICS YET until the dust settles. I am waiting for the same in fact I bought one just last week from the crazy TD-eBay sale for $249 shipped only to try out ICS. It arrived yesterday and I noticed there is no update for it OTA but now its going on craigslist because of this article:

ASUS Transformer ICS update leaves tablets unusable
By Ed Burnette | February 29, 2012, 2:00pm PST
Summary: Anxious to upgrade your ASUS EEEPad Transformer to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)? This time it doesn’t pay to be an early adopter.
Late last week ASUS started rolling out an over the air update for the original EEEPad Transformer. If you haven’t installed it yet, don’t. It can cause random reboots and generally make your tablet unusable.
I installed the update over the weekend and have had nothing but problems ever since. The main problem is that every couple of hours it will decide to reboot itself, and then to add insult to injury, the reboot fails. The tablet hangs on the startup after rebooting, and you have to turn it off and back on to clear the problem. The Transformer doesn’t have a removable battery, so to do a hard power-off you hold the power button for about 10 seconds. Luckily that works.
Dozens of frustrated ASUS customers have posted irate messages about the problems over in the XDA and Transformer forums. Besides the random reboots, some report intense battery drains and crashes of common apps. Here are a few of the threads tracking the issue:
ICS boot problem
Random Reboot Investigation
Working solution for random boot issues (not really)
Read this now !!! Post all ICS and ICS related info here only !!!!!
[SOLVED] Ice Cream sandwich update basically bricks TF101 (still bricked, sorry)
[HOW TO] ICS update problems? - fix them with these steps (didn’t help me)
My TF101 randomly reboots after Ice Cream Sandwich update!!
Reboot loop less than 36 hrs after ICS upgrade
Some people have reported no problems at all, so it’s a bit of a crap shoot whether or not you’ll be affected. Some say that factory resets, clearing and wiping everything has fixed the problem but it did not fix it for me or a lot of others. My advice: Don’t upgrade until ASUS retracts this ill-fated update and puts out a better version.

I would think Asus would want to address some of the issues reported with the TF101 release first before they release anything to the G.
Asus Italia stated "tf101g will receive ics update by the first days of March"..
So.. We are at the 11th..
Dunno what to think about.

Considering some of the issues with some users with the TF101 and ICS, it may be better that they are waiting to release the TF101G until that is fixed.
Unless you want to be one of the "'lucky" ones who have random unpredictable reboots due to a firmware issue.
I think I can wait but there is no communication from ASUS on G version at all. This is even frustrating.

Poll - are you happy with (Samsung) 4.3?

4.3 is now rolling in a number of countries for Vodafone-branded i9300 but I talked to some of my friends and everybody on stock getting it told me they are very disappointed - to the point where it was even suggested it was only done to push people to buy the S4
LOL. Where is the Poll
And for your information, yes i am.
Right. A poll thread without the actual poll xD. But to answer your question... for me I'm not that disappointed because I'm in no rush to update just because there's an update. People just expected something from Samsung's firmware updates for the S3 since it's still the best selling flagship phone from them but in that Samsung failed hence people now switching to Nexus devices. I can't really blame those people though because my next smartphone will no longer be Samsung but a Nexus device. So basically I'm not happy with Samsung's handling of updates not with their devices itself
EDIT:
Now I see the poll
At last we are getting 4.3 :good:
As posted fools rush in where wise men fear to tread .
Others can beta test for me ,
All that wait for nothing whats new and full of lag 4.3 is crap

We have waited a lot of time, when it was the time for 4.2.2 update, they skipped a whole android version "to focus on a better 4.3" , now they release this total crap with a tremendous wake lag, not even showing the sender of the message. It's not an UPGRADE, it's a DOWNGRADE.
They don't even care of the problems, and continue to release this **** all over the countries!!!
Shame on Samsung for their tremendous work and indifference,
Next will be a Nexus

I´m not happy with 4.3 and switched back to 4.1.2 - but I hope there will be an update soon without all that bugs.
I made the mistake of upgrading to 4.2.2 leak without a previous nandroid. I was having so much problems and was really happy when 4.3 leak came out. But the deep sleep problems plus constant freezes continued. (I didn't want to go through a data wipe and reconfig).
installing yank's kernel didn't help much.
It was only when I installed wanamlite and yank that I regained the stability and battery I once had in 4.1.2. Should´ve waited more...
Hi All,
Yes, I'm happy.
But just after install a Custom Kernel. In the case Yank.555 kernel.
[]'s
Was hoping for 3.4 kernel, disappointed
I surprisingly checked for an update last night (11th nov) and to my surprise it started to download ota 4.3.
It's now 24 hrs later and im really really fed up with it.
This wake screen caper that everyone's talking about is no joke. Its horrendous.
This coupled with the fact that the android os has used 40% oc ths battey today and the screen has used 31%!!!!!! I just canr believe it. That they would release such a carp firmware.
I used to flash alot of sonys in the past but have never delved into Samsung flashing before as ive heard lots can go wrong and im at my teathers end because I like all of you need my phone for work.
im desperate to change back tonight but need to find my uk unbranded fw first and then learn how to do it . Ive heard a lot of people losing their imei whilst rolling back so im just stuck
every app lags
the whole design of it just sucks really
Updated ota last night on BTU. Lock screen a bit laggy but on the whole not too bad. After all it is 4.3, I'm sure all will be good on 4.3.1 or .2 or .3........
Just ordered Nexus 5. Sorry Samsung, great phone but tooooo slow with updates.....
Sometimes upto 10 seconds wakeup lag, a lot of apps are slow to startup, my saved words in predictive text have erased theirself twice, don't know about others but multi window won't work at all and has huge lag at doing basically anything...
So yeah I'd say I'm not happy and is by far the worst update I've seen on S3, So I'm going back to 4.1.2
Let's check it all out for myself and out of curiousity, and give a DECENT feedback on 4.3..
For those who are NOT happy, maybe try a custom ROM and kernel? I've found it provides more than you could need for daily use!! And with 4.4 development coming up, forget about stock sammy!
Other than the very slightly improved multitasking (still pretty garbage), the experience has never been so laggy. What a useless update, looks like Samsung didn't try to even fix the fundamental problem of the s3, and it's actually laughable when a quad core cpu phone manages to lag thus badly.

Just picked up the Nexus 7

Just picked up a 16 GB WiFi Nexus 7 2013 (got 25% today at work, so I decided to grab one). I must say, the device is awesome. I was shocked at how thin and light it was, especially after I've been using an OG Kindle Fire for the past two years.
I went and applied the OTA to 4.4 and that went smoothly, but shortly after installing the Google Experience Launcher (which I have been using on other 4.4 devices without any problem), I got a full system hang and the tablet rebooted. I did a quick Google search and it seems like this might be a somewhat common problem. I am just concerned that this may become an ongoing problem with my tablet. Should I be worried about a freeze then reboot happening once?
I have about a five week period here where I can exchange the tablet for a new one if it keeps happening, but I really don't want to do so, if I don't have to. I eventually want to dive into custom ROMs, would any ROMs solve the problem, if there is indeed one, or is it a hardware or software flaw?
Thanks!

I am using Google Experience Launcher on my N7 for last few weeks, never had an issue like this. The installation was smooth as well.
Random rebooting is quite a common issue with the 16gb version of this tab. Some say that uninstalling Chrome solves the problem, but you just got the tab, and I think you have to be rooted to uninstall it. It should be a system app.

Just had another random reboot. The tablet was just sitting there and it rebooted.
You might want to look into getting the 32gb version. My tab has never rebooted once, unless I was messing around with mods. Depending on where you purchased the device, you might have to have it ordered, but the extra $40 is well worth it. Not to mention how quickly 16gb actually fills up.

When I first got the tablet - I got 3-4 random freeze ups and reboots. Once I rooted and sideloaded Kit-Kat, all of my reboots went away.
I have a few weeks to be able to return or exchange it. In the meantime, I'm still running on the stock KitKat ROM, unrooted. I've also gone ahead and disabled Chrome to see if that makes a difference.

Had another reboot earlier tonight. I'm going to see about exchanging the tablet at some point this week, maybe after I try rooting and installing a custom ROM.
You shouldn't have to root and install a custom ROM for a stable experience, I'd try an exchange. I picked mine up on black Friday (32GB) and haven't yet experienced a random reboot. I'm currently at 7 days uptime and its still running great, as it should.

I researched it, and found no instances of the 32gb rebooting. Not sure why, but the issue seems exclusive to the 16gb. And I have seen this issue firsthand, so I know what you are going through.

I've heard that the 32 GB doesn't have the problems a few places. I think I'll probably just drop the extra $50 on the 32 GB model just to not have to worry about having the problems.

I have the 32gb and my tab has never rebooted itself. Imo you should return that tab of yours. Watch the staples daily deals bro because you can get a pretty freakin good deal. I bought a 32gb n7 at wally world for 289. Staples had some coupons come up that took off 60$. I returned my N7 and bought the same tab at staples for 230 after taxes.

Never had a reboot here with 32gb version. But I use nova launcher, never tried GEL
I remember my first 16GB Nexus 7 2013 that I had purchased back on August 4th had the random reboot problems, and sometimes it also randomly shut itself down as well. But one thing I tended to notice was that every time it rebooted randomly or shut down randomly on me, there were always apps getting updated.
Back on November 11th, I went to exchange my old N7 2013 for a different 16GB model at Best Buy for the defective one, and so far it seems to be holding up fine!

Android 5.0(Lollipop)

Folks when to expect Android L on our devices! Lets discusse
No idea, but there's no way I'm updating from 4.3 till I'm sure I can use my SDcard the way it's meant to be used (without any restrictions). That, app ops, and battery life. Even then, I'll wait and let others be the guinea pig first and once the problems are ironed out, I'll upgrade directly to 5.0.
Hmm! Thats smart one! But i think aur sd card issues are finnaly solved in kitkat!!

To be honest, I'm not convinced Nvidia is going to bring L to the TN7. They seem to have all but forgotten it since the release of the Shield Tablet. Also, to anyone having battery life issues, have you tried a factory reset? I've had no battery life issues, and I'm running the latest update as well as the custom kernel on the dev page here with the tablet overclocked to the max.
If That happen then i will throw my tablet! I was too excited about it ! Therefore nexus 7(2012) model will get that update and in less time.
Till now im not having any issues with my battery . I havent rooted my tab yet.
I have seen several news sources that have stated the Note 7 will be getting 5.0. I'm really wondering how long it will take.

The NVIDIA Shield tablet facebook page states that the shield tablet will get the update first, then the Tegra Note 7 will be done later. Hopefully, it is not too much later.
Placing my bet on TN7 Android L release just after Christmas. Else it be the nVidia middle finger at us!
Either way let's hope the TN7 runs it better than my wife's Nexus 7 is at the moment.
Nvidia has said that they will surely update TN7 after shield tablet but no specific date is given!
Still no update? My tablet wants to update to KitKat, but I won't do it unless I can get lollipop. I've 20GB of apps on SD card so KitKat is not an option. Is lollipop going to be any better for this scenario?
Cheers
FYI guys, as cool as lollipop looks it may be a bad idea to DL it once it comes out.
I did some searching around to see how nexus owners liked it and it basically renders the 2012 version unusable and severely hampers the 2013 FHD version.
From what little info out there about how it runs on the Shield it sounds mostly positive.
My wife's N7 has been spot on since itngot a proper hard reset, I'd say its actually better than it was on KK now but that could be related to the fact its had the hard reset and some unused apps may not have been installed.

I've also heard many people report that their 2013 N7 is running fine; it seems the people having trouble with the update didn't do a full reset, which is always a good option for anyone having issues with any device. As for the 2012 N7, it's running a Tegra 3 while we're sporting a Tegra 4, so I'm sure it won't be a problem for us... frankly, the Tegra 3 was kind of a mess anyway.

Tab Pro 10.1 update to Kitkat 4.4.4 and Lollipop

I have the Tab Pro 4 10.1, Tab 3 7" and the Nexus 7 2012. My Nexus 7 2012 had gone through all the updates to Lollipop but none of my Samsung devices have any updates for months while the Nexus 7 the oldest of all the three have all these updates that just keeps on coming. I'm getting frustrated with Samsung because until now my Samsung tablets are stuck at 4.4.2. If Samsung can release a new phone/tablet every 3 months with the latest OS then why can't they update the OS of the older ones at the same rate? Why do we ever bother reading the news about Android's latest Lollipop if we can't even get them on time? All I see is - it's coming, yeah right! What kind of software developers or engineers they have in there? Maybe they only have one guy working on it that's why it's taking so long or never at all. With all that money that they have, they can't even do this simple things. I guess that's why they couldn't beat Apple at their own game. Anyway, I'm out. Thanks for reading!

Just what do you see on Lollipop that makes you want it so bad.
I have purposely turned off OS updates on my N7 as don't want it. The device has not enough power to operate more and more memory intensive OS.
I let my N4 get updated and now regret it. Had no problems prior but now the battery drains overnight if left on standby. I used to let it go for several days before charging now I have to ensure it is plugged in and recharged nightly. This battery drain is being experienced by others. I don't want to have to do a complete factory reset and load everything again which is what some people recommend when doing these updates. Lollipop to me offers nothing that I want and it removed the ability to quickly close all apps which now must be done individually a pain. That plus the chance of other problems makes me want to leave my tab as is.
Google makes the Nexus line.
Google makes Android.
It's to be expected that a Nexus gets the Android updates first.
I'm under the impression the TabPros are getting Lollipop in Jan/Feb sometime with the rest of the year old devices, is that way out to lunch? If they aren't, I will be jumping to CM12 way sooner than later!

Whats so good about lollipop..... wellllll, on my phone after lollipop update I went from a 32k antutu to a 48k antutu, after lollipop im getting noticeably better performance in browsing and gaming, after lollipop im getting MUCH better battery life, after lollipop my phone runs like I want it to. As for being more memory intensive better look again. In its initial release lollipop had a memory leak, that was fixed so now it is easier on your device than kitkat. As for the close all in recent tasks which has been renamed...its still there. As always brand specific features will overwrite stock features though.
So in short why would someone want lollipop? It is simply better in almost every way. One of the few updates I have thought worthy of taking.

Dude, yes. This a hundred times. I was going to return this stupid tablet (10.1) because the TW ROM is so horrifically bad and sluggish. With CM12 it flies.
Yup, it'll either be out this year, next year, or the year after that. Trust me. Don't worry about it. Keep buying Samsung tablets, they're great.
I see a thread just like this one on every single device I've ever owned. A spoiled baby crying that they don't get updates right away. If you want updates so fast why would you get anything but Nexus? Go install CM12 & be happy.

lol seriously? 4.4.2 is just so out of date, it makes sense everyone is complaining.
not to mention, there's so many dumb bugs on the official GTP 8.4 firmware that it's pretty obvious this model is an "afterthought" for samsung
i actually don't expect ANY further updates for this model, it's pretty clear that when a company replaces a product with a newer product just 4 months after the product comes out (Tab S) they consider the first product a failure and don't care about it anymore

It is not that out of date cmon man. If/when 5.0 drops you will see a new thread dedicated to how bad it is on the tablet & asking how to go back to kitkat. If you want loli so bad why not play with cm12? If updates are such a priority to you why did you get this device? It has been like this for pretty much every non nexus device. Some get updates pretty quick, but most have to wait months.

hi bro, would you care to check something for me? I'm reluctant to flash cm12 until I know this.
in CM12 for tab pro 10.1 if you set an unlock pattern. does it appear on the first screen after pushing power button(like stock) or do you have to swipe for it to appear? (which means additional screen/step before unlock)
edit: oh well, nevermind..

Are you really happy with that Lollipop on your Nexus 7 (2012)? I also own a Nexus 7 (2012) which became useless after Lollipop update.
Guys, go and visit the Nexus 7 sub-forum here and see how frustrated are those people after they got Lollipop.
I am really happy with my Samsung's (especially with 8.4), I wouldn't trade my milliseconds lag for a 30 seconds Lollipop lag and I will wait some good time when the update will become available.
