[Q] Any Battery Life Comparison Yet? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I'm making this thread because I've searched on the net for days (and have searched in this site too) and still haven't found any real (standardized) battery comparison between the s600 and the exynos octa version of this phone. Answer (or even link for it) would be appreciated. Thanks!

[Q] Are there any disadvantages with i9505 over i9500?

Apologies if this has been discussed before. I have searched but not found anything. Sorry if I missed it.
UK resident here.
Perhaps peculiarly, I seem to find the i9505 cheaper online (unlocked sim-free) than the i9500. I know the i9500 is touted as the "international version" and I know there are chip & chipset differences between the two, but do both work flawlessly in the UK with our networks (I'm on giffgaff)?
FWIW, I'm very likely going to be rooting and applying a custom rom when I get either - I guess there will be a higher rom selection for the i9500?
Many thanks
Ryan
Please, no... another 9500 vs 9505 thread.... There are more roms for 9505 including cyanogenmod. And there will be even more because snapdragon is way better documented. There are tons of information about it here. Search the forum for more details.
You know, there's a search button somewhere around.
The only two main disadvantages:
-Better camera sensor on i9500 (better photos)
-Wolfson Audio chip on i9500
*Other than that maybe some marginal speed difference when doing heavy cpu work.
On the other side with i9505 you get
Better updated
-Dev support and custom roms
-Games easier to optimise because of common gpu
-Better battery life
- LTE
- Less heating issues

and i'm so disappointed of getting the 9500... thinking of getting htc one now.. b4 s4 price goes down..

Less heating issue.... Not really. My friends who uses the GT-i9500 didn't complaint about any heating issues.
LTE services is quite expensive in the UK
Personal experience
I have a gt-i9505 and the difference I mostly think about is HD slow motion video recording. Unlike the gt-i9500, the gt-i9505 does NOT have 720p (HD) slow motion recording, it only has 480p which looks really really bad when my friends do it on their iPhones. But I have to mention that, despite having the qualcomm snapdragon quad core model, I have never experienced performance issues. And I enjoy more developer support and less heating issues compared to the exynos octa core model. Please hit thanks if I helped in any way.

[Q] Exynos Core Control Apps( Underclock)

Hi guys so i found a thread where you can turn off your Exynos processor. Have any of you guys tried out the apps? Maybe the PROS and CONS due to this action? Thanks a lot!

[Q] buying the s4 not sure which model ... help ?!

hi guys
so i'm buying the s4 and since there are different models i came to ask you which one do u think is better, i'm in uk so ...
i9500 seems to be more efficient and faster as a octa core but pretty much all shops in uk have ran out and are selling the i9505 [usa version] ...
so what do you suggest i'm a performance demanding person a little bit of stutter and lag here and there would drive me mad ...
i also wanna be able to play high-end games without lagg at all which marks the difference between the two GPUs ... adreno320 or PowerVR
thank you so much in advance ...
BTW i've already looked all over the web and watched comparisons on youtube and mostly the i9500 wins

N9000 VS N9005 Battery wise.

Hey all,
Do you guys can advise which version of NOTE 3 will have better battery performance? N9000 or N9005?
I'm not comparing the other specs since they are irrelevant for me (no LTE support in my country)
Thanks!
Roi
In my experience, Exinox processor are very efficient.
But I have the qualcomm edition so I cold not say. My version is quite on par (or a littke worse) with my exinox note 2 in terms of battery life.

I have the same question
No results yet? No comparisons?
Sammy recently stated they arent releasing an HMP patch for the exynos S4 or N3.
Battery will be better on snapdragon unless you switch exynos to only A7's mode.

Galaxy A8

I am considering buying a Galaxy A8 to replace my ageing Galaxy Grand Duos. I like the design and price of the A8, and the fact that it is dual sim, and can live with the specs. Are there any developers out there that plan to develop for the A8? I'd be interested, eventually, in CM ports, and othr custom roms (based on Samsung, AOSP or CM).

If you will be using the fingerprint scanner a lot then I would suggest to stay away, as I have been having problems with it. The A8 keeps on deleting my fingerprint samples that it has stored and then I have to use the password to unlock and start over with the fingerprint thingy....other then that its a great mobile.
Go for an s6 instead of this Richard✌

In my market the Samsung A8 is available for USD $370, only ~$61 less than the S6 (USD $431). A side-by-side spec comparison shows the S6 outclassing the A8 in most regards (as expected). However, the A8 beats the S6 in two areas:
Battery: the A8 has a 3050 mAh battery vs a 2550 mAh battery in the S6.
Expandable storage: the dual SIM version of the A8 supports micro SD storage.
I hesitant to buy the S6 mostly because of the poor battery life that many people have reported. (I realize that some people are able to achieve decent SoT, but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule?)
There are not many reviews for the A8, but GSM Arena reported that the A8 had great battery life in their tests, significantly better than the S6:
A8: 98h "endurance rating", 25:02h 3G talk time; 12:18h web browsing; 12:45h video playback
SG: 73h "endurance rating", 19:48h 3G talk time; 10:56h web browsing; 12:12h video playback
Android Authority also gave the A8 a favorable review and also noted the great battery life. Which leads to my questions:
Are the S6 battery woes overblown?
Would you be willing to trade slightly lesser specs for much improved battery life (and micro SD)?
As you wish go for an A8 but remember that s6 is the flagship of 2015 and A8 is midrange?

hi friends,
i am using A8 since a month now. i didn't have any issue with the finger print access. its utter smooth. very prompt. there were few updates lately and accordingly has increased its performance.
its also good for gaming where i play Asphalt 8 and NFS. both are smooth without any hickups for now.
i would definitely recommend A8 for the mid-range puchase and high usage. battery without charge is usable for the whole day with the above mentioned games played for atleast an hour a day.
thanks.

Man do anything with your Richard i don't care...!! But atleast read the whole post first? He is talking about CM and custom roms? And flagships gets them before mid-range. That's why i suggested S6?
What's wrong with u. He just asked abt A8. I am happy with it. I never said S6 is bad. There is no root available for A8.
Pls read the discussions above before posting.
Thanks.

It's not really a mid range, the A series is just below the Flagships.
I have just got an A8. Its smooth, sleek and has good battery life. No problems with the fingerprimt scanner at all. The only thing I don't like is the lack of dev support for this phone. Only custom rom Ive seen is a cm13 rom that is still in alpha. So if you want a good samsung phone with lots of dev support I'd recommend the s6, or even the s5 if you have a small budget. S5 even has an official version of cm13 for it
i came here while searching solution for my locked galaxy A8. Afrer upgradation few apps like applock and truecaller are not working well. even after reinstalling them and now i can't erase the upgraded version.
can somebdy help me in this?
