YES 4G from ytlcommunication
maybe,
with driver on rooted device, and/or custom rom...
on stock rom i am pretty sure that will not work.
Hi, I installed the Taboonay v.2 rom and everything is working fine (except the 3G USB, I don't know how to make it working!! help if anyone knows please, I've searching for hours in the forum without a tack to follow)
I just tried to click on "Update the system" in the Preferences -> about the tablet menu, and I get an error saying
Fota download
build number error!!
Taboonay 2.0 (4.015_COM_GEN1)

Is that normal??
thanks in advance ;-)
With custom rom's you will not get any ota, "over the air", updates from acer anymore. You have to leave your tab stock to get acer ota.
The way it works now, acer makes updates, xda makes mods for your rom and you get from xda
Hope you made a full backup of your tab before custom rom.
you can reflash the stock rom, there are plenty of them on XDA if you want OTAs. If you want 3G working on taboonay load a cutom kernel that supports it. I never use 3G, but i do use thor's kernel and it is reported working with that kernel.
I would like to know how to keep my 4G that my A501 has now, all the roms I have tried on my second A501 I have lost my 4G. Seems there is not a true A501 rom. Or am I wrong ?
It might help you to know that most of us A501 users have 3G versions (no 4G capability).
EDIT: The custom kernels in the roms you have tried have 3G support, if you ask one of the developers nicely they might compile a version of their kernel that has 4G, which you could then flash after flashing the rom.

I bought a brand new xoomlast week, then I found a better deal and bought that also. I am sending the new xoom back but I noticed on the new xoom that the version was 3.2.1 then I looked at the other xoom and that version was 4.0.3.
Which is the correct one.
Thanks

3.2.1 was Honeycomb OS and the 4.0.3 is Ice Cream Sandwich OS. You should be able to update the 3.2.1 to ICS if it's Xoom Wifi only OTA.
The 4.0.3 is Ice Cream Sandwich--the newest Android version.
the REAL question is : which one do you prefer, 4G or WIFI only?

The REAL question is: why are you assuming that 4.0.3 is only stock. EOS has 4G capabilities for example.

Ok can someone explain that, not sure what you mean.Thank's
If your XOOM is rooted, it can run custom roms. TeamEOS makes a custom rom for XOOM 4GLTE models that includes 4G. People prefer these custom builds due to added customization and that 4G XOOMs don't have ICS 4.0.3 yet due to Verizon taking forever to test it and thus you can get a modified version earlier. Basically, you replace the version of Android on your XOOM that is made by Google and put another developer's version on your XOOM.

ok, if you're new xoom user and wanna buy xoom don't be confused by advance user, try this: do you wanna 3g/4g internet connection (access internet with postpaid internet service which use sim card), or just WifI will do.in conclusion: XOOM 3g/4g -have sim card slot but have android ver 3.2 (upgradeable later). xoom wifi only - dont have sim slot but stock with android version 4.
Running a Cyanogenmod 11 Rom and loving 4.4. For some reason though even though I had it unlocked in my original 10.2, and I have the option to access fast.tmobile.com checked off in settings under 4G LTE (and have even gone so far as to reflash the hybrid modem) I have no access to it.
Anyone else having this issue?
no, ran fine on lte after the first second of upgrading to 4.4. a cm issue maybe?
LTE works for me in Purity ROM 4.4. You do hard to reflash the modem. There are also new modems to download based on the base band 97.

Working fine using the .84/33 hybrid. You need the hybrid modem and a build.prop modification. You can then switch on lte from the phone menu at *#*#4636#*#* by choosing LTE/GSM/CDMA auto.
