Does Google allow upgrades from the 8GB to the 16GB version (Obviously paying the extra for the 16GB version), I got my Nexus 4 on Wednesday so still within the 15 days. The 5.6GB just isn't enough for me unfortunately. Should I just get a refund and buy the 16GB or do Google allow swapping the 8 for the 16 while paying the extra.
You'll have to return it and place an order for the 16gb model

Cheers, I thought that might be the case. Whats the time-frame for refunds with Google?
What did Google say when you asked them or checked their website?

Not much just that a refund can be initiated within 15 days of receiving the device, no information on refund time-frames. I will probably just get a refund and order the 16GB model. Great device though my last Android device was the SGS2 and the smoothness alone with no hiccups is leaps and bounds above the SGS2.

Wow that's quite a long time. Is that a what Google say or is that what most people have been experiencing?
Google charges a restocking fee
I looked into it and if you wanted to request a refund, you would have to pay a 15% restocking fee, which works out to around you losing about $47 dollars. Some people are still reporting that they are having trouble getting the device on time though.

That's how long it took for me when I returned my n7. If you tell them that the phone is defective and want to return it they won't charge you the restocking fee

I'm in the UK so restocking fees don't apply to me as I'm covered by the distance selling regulations. I've read a few posts regarding returns and refund time but they are all related to the N7 and all seem to be as long as yours. Hopefully Google is a little faster for me. Cheers for your help.
As another possible solution is to sell your 8gb nexus 4 and then buy yourself a nexus 4 16gb afterwards.

Hi, it currently says ships in 5-6 weeks. Will the money come out now or in 5-6 weeks? As I don't have the money now, but will do in 5-6 weeks..

The money has to be in the account at the time of ordering as Google will first put a short hold, about a week depending on how long your bank holds funds, on the exact amount then charge the account again about a day before it actually ships.

The Nexus 4 on eBay currently sales for much more than what Google is asking for. Unless you MUST have it ASAP, it is better order from Google Play and wait for 6 weeks.

I just ordered a 16GB for £289 inc shipping (5-6 weeks) with a current account with £300 in it. The order went through fine, and I still have £300 available in that account.
I'd give it a try, the worst thing can happy is the order fail to go through.

Google checked if I had the money on the day I ordered 11/27 and just today they finally charged me for it (I used a debit card). So it should be shipping soon
I think I will just wait till I have the money and see if they have any in stock at that time. Cheers for the info though lads (or ladies)
So this isn't due in the UK for another month, but I want one pretty desperately (impatient!)
Can buy it from eBuyer for £230 and they say it will be delivered on 28th Aug.
But there are so many of these on Ebay that are perfectly legit, with shipping from the US. The price works out roughly the same, sometimes cheaper.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Google-Ne...51312472043?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item3a8363ffeb
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-NEW...51091775153?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item232dc586b1
Obviously this way I'd get it a lot sooner. Am I missing something? Is there any reason not to buy one of these and wait an extra few week?
What are the rest of you from the UK doing?
You'd almost certainly have to pay import tax and fees of £30+ on top of the eBay price so it might start to get expensive.
I've got a 16GB on the way to the UK by using Amazon US and comGateway for forwarding. It's cost me £175 for the Nexus and Amazon/comGateway's shipping so I'm hopeful that after tax/fees it won't be far off the £200 UK price...

Normally they'll add on 20% when it gets into England. So you'll end up roughly paying the same.

My thoughts exactly if something is wrong you will have to pay even more to get it shipped back to the usa and then back again it's not worth the hassle may as well wait 4 weeks and buy a uk model.

20% off coupon
This is Office Max in-store coupon for 20% off; it includes tablets and eReaders. Of course, Office Max may not be near everyone, but you can try price matching with Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy in-store.
If in-store doesn't work, you can always try through phone order or online chat. I got the 32gb one for $215+tax through Office Depot chat online (rep didn't let me get the 16gb since Office Max website doesn't show the 16gb one).
Used the same coupon and picked up a 32 gb for $233.89 after tax. Good deal! But OM seems to be OOS around orange county, heard they will get new shipment Monday.

another nice effort from Google
Going to try in a little bit. Will report back but I see no reason why this doesn't work/ Also, living in Florida, computer products are tax free this week for back to school. Other people I have come across have reported that tablets fall under this category, which makes sense.
Damn, nearest office max is 40miles away. Had one been closer I would have bought anew 32gb and return my staples 16gb -$30 coupon.

$215.99, final price. Quite the savings! Going to return my 16gb best buy one later today.
Very nice! I wished it was tax free in CA. I also bought OM protection plan for 2 years. Anyone have experiences with OMs protection plan? Debating if I should cancel it. The girl that worked there said I can return the tablet in any condition within 2 years and either get it replaced or refunded full amount with a gift card. Sounds too good to be true.

You should see if there is a deductible and whether it covers lost/stolen and physical damage.
$54 off is amazing. I would jump on it before OM decides to exclude certain devices or cancels the coupon. I paid full price at Amazon the first day it went on sale (Friday). Paid $300 for Saturday delivery. Returning it and buying locally would be lucrative. I wonder if Amazon will price match if I call them. Tell them I'm within my 30 days and I can save $54 if I go through the hassle.
Hmmm.
I sent them an Email saying that I am within my return policy and would like to see if they would Price Match the coupon. I linked the coupon and the a image of the scanned receipt. We shall see.
Just took the coupon up to Best Buy to see if they'd price match a refund since I bought mine on Friday, and they did. I walked out with $49 cash in my pocket. Thanks OP!

Got mine from BB last week and used a GC for part of the purchase, called them up and they said they do not price match post sale.
But are you saying if they did give a refund from a price match after sale....and you used a gift card for part or all of the purchase.....you only get $10 back?
I also thought the salesman at BB told me when I was completing the sale, said "You can not return for refund, you can only return for exchange."
Of course it sort of went in one ear and out the other as I thought to myself....why would I think of returning for a full refund.

Newegg is selling black or white for $259 on ebay
I just got ordered one directly from newegg site the other day for $279. I never dealt with newegg before. Do you think they would adjust the price on my original order to $259?
If I return the $279 back, does newegg pick up the return shipping or do I?
Not going to lose sleep over the $20, but if pretty simple process and minimal hassle, $20 is twenty bucks

You're reading something into the ebay buyer protection program that isn't there. If the item is "not as described" or you didnt received it then it would be covered. Receiving an item with a manufacturing defect is not specified addressed in the terms of the sale and assuming you could utilize the BPP in such a manner would be foolish.
So Newegg doesn't want anything to do with a "I don't like it after all" return, but a new item is covered by manufacturer warranty anyway right?
So it would be more of a pain to deal with manufacturer instead of retailer, but either way you wouldn't be stuck with a lemon right?

Let me share a story that may ease some fears. I dropped my HTC DNA and smashed the screen. Screen repairs are expensive, so I made the mistake of going with the cheapest vendor -- Mission Repair. Not only did they do a shoddy job, gluing the speaker back askew and leaving the red stripes on the side loose, but it was returned with the wifi malfunctioning.
I paid with PayPal (owned by ebay, of course), so I followed their procedures and opened a dispute, where I told my side of the story. Mission Repair actually responded that I should return the unit to them so that they could determine whether there was anything wrong with my phone! Of course this was unacceptable to me, so I escalated the case to a claim, which would force PayPal to intervene. I summed up my story and MR was given 10 or 14 days to respond.
I guess they realized that they had no ground to stand on, because AFAIK PayPal never heard back from them. Right after MR's response period expired, PayPal refunded me the cost of the repair. Well, in the meantime, the problem with my wifi cleared up. I wasn't about to say anything, though, because I felt I deserved at least a response from MR. If the wifi had still been broken, I would have pushed for more than the repair cost.
So, the point of the story is that PayPal and ebay seem serious about resolving disputes. I don't know about ebay buyer protection, but it's easy to get PayPal to arbitrate a claim. If this doesn't put many minds at ease, just look at NewEgg's 99.5% positive rating on ebay.

I don't think price alone affected low sales. Poor marketing. This was meant to compete with other flagship phablets. And they did a piss poor job. For the average person they don't care about "pure android" or timely updates. They want the latest and greatest. Seems like Google didn't do much to market this phone for people outside of the people who already have/own/want a nexus. Nexus crowd expect a cheaper price and were turned off by the size. If Google wanted this to sell better they should have marketed as a competitor to the iPhone 6+ and Note 4.

I just got off the phone with Google. They had my joy on a yoyo string. First it was yes we can refund. then no we cant, because you're out of the 15 day refund period( by 1 day!!!). So I told her I havent connected it because of waiting on project fi. But also explained i was looking to maybe get the S6 and just return the nexus 6. I continued to tell her I saw online that google dropped the price and some people have gotten the difference refunded. She spoke to the manager and he said "no don't lose the sale just refund the difference"
So the $150 is suppose to post in my account in 2days.
Fyi there's a 15 day refund policy. they can work around that if you threaten to return the phone. Also. I'm sure if it's been more than 30days it won't work either way.
they did refund me the difference.
here is the email i got.......
Thank you for contacting Google about your recent Nexus 6 order!
In keeping with our Price Protection Policy, I've refunded you the difference in price resulting from our recent price reduction.
If there is anything else you need, please do not hesitate to reach out, and congratulations on your new phone!
