I have noticed for a while that sometimes when pressing back in applications like Gallery and YouTube the graphical glitches occur for some reason, anyone having the same issue?

I'm running civato's cm10 and my transition animations are very laggy and at times the screen just flickers whilst the animation should be happening. I first had this problem when I tried out Thor's Cornerstone ICS ROM ages ago, which I then moved on to his non-Cornerstone version because I didn't like it. Those problems persisted after removing Cornerstone however. I only just recently installed the ICS bootloader, did a full wipe/factory reset and installed cm10 in the hope that it'd be fixed but it seems that my animations are still very laggy. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?
The flickering occurs mainly when using the app switcher, whilst opening and closing apps seems to cause a stuttering animation and opening the notification panel is very slow.
Edit: It seems ticking 'disable hw overlays' and changing the window, transition and animation scale to 0.5x has hid the lag a bit. Disabling HW overlays makes the big difference but it still stutters a fair bit when animations are set to 1x. The flickering does stop. Wouldn't expect this of a JB ROM though, so I still think something is wrong.
Edit 2: Did a full format, installed civato's ICS rom and everything works fantastic now.
the touchscreen navigation buttons no longer appear ( back, home etc...button on bottom of screen). I noticed after exiting Clash of Clans.
Then, after exiting another game, my notification icons ( WiFi meter, battery and time) disappeared. The Google toolbar was pushed to the top where these notification icons should be. Each time this has happened I rebooted and fixed the issue. Has anyone else experienced this?
An explanation of the issue:
When I press the home button, the home button lights up, but there's a lag between the phone registering my touch and actually going "home". This video sums it up nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45J4dbN0mXI
Occurs almost every time, it's more prominent with 3rd party apps but there's even a delay when going home from "settings".
What I am running
Currently on OptimusG3 1.4 with Dorimanx 8.5.2.
What I've tried
Changing ROMS. The only ROMs where this issue doesn't appear are on AOSP roms.
Disabling G3TweaksBox and Xposed in general
Tried Nova Launcher (which I now use as my primary ROM)
Freezing the Default LG launcher
Uninstalling the default LG launcher
Speeding up animations.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE!
The issue seems to be apparent on Nexus 4 too, found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/home-button-lag-android-4-4-kitkat-t2527703/page17
Switched to ART And now it's smooth but now I don't have xposed. Damn.
Still searching for a fix that doesn't include switching to ART
UPDATE:
I flashed the nexus 4 qualcomm dalvik libraries and I'm seeing a massive improvement. It's not entirely fixed, however. I still notice the animation stuttering, but overall it's much more fluid. If anybody knows how to eliminate this issue completely, let me know.
Is anybody running into a major lag when pulling down on the notification drawer. It's weird because everything els like switching between apps is super fast but sometimes the notification drawer lags badly.
Sometime if you have high resource apps pending in the notification bar it does that. Like maps running alongside with music playing.

Not really the notification but going into settings panel from hitting the gear icon in the notification shade lags and will take a sec before the settings page loads.
I am getting lag everywhere and reboots
For anyone getting lag or stutters, be sure to check in Settings >> Accessibility, to see if any apps have access. If they do, it will definitely cause a significant amount of lag or stutter. This affects all android versions but is a bit more noticeable in Touchwiz.
@whittikins That did indeed fix the issue for me on my Samsung S7, Nova Launcher was the issue in my case.

Thanks!! That fixed it for me too on v20 running on Android 7.0
Edit: restarted the Google app, it's fixed now. Must have been changing power modes / resolutions.
Using WQHD+
The images in my feed have the bottom 1/4 or so stretched, makes for some strange headshots.
I have disabled the navbar through ADB, using fluid ng maybe that's causing the issue?
Anyone else seen this?
