I'm from Belgium and yesterday I went to the UK and I bought myself a Nexus 4. I was so happy.. Untill I came home and wanted to boot this thing up. Nothing happened, so I plugged it in my computer to charge the battery. Instantly a red light turns on at the bottom of the phone, I thought it must be normal or something. I still couldn't boot it at this point. After a few minutes the red light went off, so I decided to try it again, but still nothing. I pressed the power button for like 30 seconds (also power + volume down) but nothing is happening. Am I doing something wrong? Could my device be faulty or something? If yes, then I got a little problem, it's not like the UK is next to my door..
Any ideas on this?
PS: It's been plugged in all night for charging, but still nothing.
You are not alone. Alot of users are having this problem. Try this > https://support.google.com/nexus/7/answer/2668668?&rd=1
its for Nexus 7 but applies to Nexus 4. If this method doesn't work, I would recommend it to return it to the seller and get another one if you can.
from above link:
If your tablet isn't charging properly, please confirm that you're using the charger that came with your Nexus 7 tablet. The Nexus 7 charger is rated at 2A, where as most phone chargers deliver a current of 1A or less.
If you're using a charger rated less than 2A, your tablet may charge very slowly, or may not charge at all.
Charge a drained battery
If your Nexus 7 tablet's battery drains completely, you can recharge it by following these steps:
Connect the charger to your Nexus 7, then plug the charger in to an outlet.
Press and hold Power until the device powers on, then immediately press and hold Volume Down (while still pressing Power). You will see the word Start with an arrow drawn around it.
Press Volume down until you find Power off, then press Power to select that option.
When your tablet is off, disconnect the charger, then reconnect it.
You should see a battery on your screen that indicates your tablet is charging.
There is a hard fix for it but its a little complicated. You have to open ur N4 and pullout the battery. That will fix the problem. Anyway follow the above method first.
I tried the first 2 steps allready without succes, will try the last step (after 1 hour unplug and replug). I hope at some point it will boot up...
Well, it didn't work, only solution is to bring it back.. because i'm not going to open this thing
Why don't you let it charge with the wall charger overnight and see if it works in the morning?

I also live in Belgium and got a Nexus 4, bought in Germany. From yesterday on, they started selling Nexus 4 in Benelux. If you bought it in a store that also is in Belgium, you can try there to get a replacement?

Bought it in the UK 2 days ago. So, that's the biggest problem, I have to go back to replace it lol..
I saw that LG is going to sell the Nexus 4 in Benelux, but at a much higher price (€470), dunno what LG is thinking, but that's way to high.

Can't do, the wall charger from UK is different from that in Europe. Or maybe I could buy a universal charger for it and try that?

i bought a nexus 4 on Thursday ... i fully charged it on Friday night after it shut down ... and yesterday night it shut down again due to no battery ... i plugged it to my laptop to charge [i turned it on and it was ok] and left it there for the night ... this morning it was dead ... i tried the suggestion from google support posted in a previous post but did not work so far ... have you come up with another solution?
---------- Post added at 02:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:12 PM ----------
after about 4 hours connected to the charger i removed the microSIM card [i know this has nothing to do with it] and plugged it in again ... a red light started flashing and i was able to turn on the phone ... now it is working properly
Well, I have some news. I bought a power converter, so now it's plugged in the wall charger. The red light started to flash instantly, so I pushed on power + vol down and it got into bootloader for like 1 sec and then it turned itself off and the red light started to flash again. I'm going to leave it now for an hour or so and then try again.
EDIT:
I just tried again and went into bootloader and selected power off and now it's charging, finally! Thx for the help guys

I installed the official update. After shutting down, nexus4 can't start up. Press the power button over 10 seconds, it also can't reboot. And I pressed the three buttons, it can't go to the bootloader interface. How can I get it start up again?:angel:
I had this when I did my update. It took a while of holding the power button to get it too boot again, try charging for already an hour then hold the power button for at least 1 min. Once I got mine to boot again I've not had any issues since when booting it up.

yes, I saw the LED's red light, it sometimes last 7-8seconds somtimes 1 second.,:crying::crying:but what's that means. It's still doesn't work. I have no idea.
Then you may be out of luck. Take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011328
You can try leaving the phone on AC charger overnight. Some people have reported that they managed to fix their phones that way.
Was it the official OTA update you installed? I suppose your device was not rooted then.

My phone was on USB charge once ( actually plugged into the computer not the ac to USB issue people have been having) and because it thought it was charging it carried on as normal but the battery wasn't being charged fast enough by the USB to keep it running and the phone just died, no shutting down or anything dead with a flashing red LED the reason it did this was because the os thought it was charging even though it was discharging so until the battery actually ran out of juice the phone ploughed on. I immediately unplugged the USB and switched to the AC. The red light went off and the phone was silent for at least 10 minutes. I then with all toes and fingers crossed tried to start it again and it did. The red led lit up and stayed on for about 5 seconds and then burst into life. It really depends from how long you've had this red led if its been like it for a while I'd recommend a straight 24 ac charge with no interruptions. If that doesn't work I'm out of ideas :/ good luck Blewk

If people just let their phones charge undisturbed overnight and tried the next day to boot, that number would be -80%..

Dang man, this same problem is happening to the LG Optimus G. There is a thread on xda for that phone and the op says to take the back cover off, disconnect the battery then reconnect it and that fixes it. Maybe worth a shot on the nexus.?? That is if you don't want to reflash the phone.

Holy crap. It's literally IN THIS THREAD.
Leave it on your charger for several hours and see if it boots. If not, it's probably RMA time.
It's plugged for about 10 hours and nothing.

I was just mentioning other options just in case someone couldn't get into the bootloader. What if you send the phone to lg because you couldn't get into the bootloader to reflash and they can by disconnecting the battery and find out that you are unlocked and rooted when the phone boots back up, which would also void your warranty. Although I would not take the back cover off if the phone was stock, might as well send the phone back if you can't get it to boot.

You seem to know very little about how chargers, batteries and charging circuitry works. To put your mind at ease, a USB 2.0 port is rated at 5V DC, 500mA. That will charge a Nexus 4, albeit slowly. Your 0.7A charger isn't going to fry anything, as there are multiple safeties built in, unless something is SEVERELY wrong with it, meaning faulty construction.

So you are telling me that, unless there is any issue with the charger (faulty construction) there is no reason to worry about that it will lead to this "Red light of death" or any other issue (lowering battery lifetime for example)?
This is totally off topic but, Do you (personally) think it's true what people say that charging a cellphone with a lower output charger increases its battery service?
Quick question:
Does this red light issue appear when battery is drain to 0% (among other factors)

There is no reason to worry unless the charger or your phone is faulty, in other words, hardware failure on either side. Unfortunately there would be no easy to foresee that.
The charging circuitry will only use what it needs to do it's job. As long as the voltage is within range and the current is not too LOW, you're OK. The N4 is rated at 900 mA to perform a standard charge. It will accept as low as approx. 500 mA to charge in USB mode. That idea is rubbish.
I've had my Nexus 4 for about 2 weeks now and currently it is taking a ridiculously long time to charge. It has been hooked up with the original USB to Micro-USB cable for about 3 hours at it went from 12% to 8% (wtf...) to 10% now and hasn't moved for the past hour. Someone help please

I'm not entirely sure wether this is a "good" answer but are you charging by USB meaning plugged in your computer or laptop?
Because I've had it with several phones that if you put it in your laptop it doesn't charge or very very slowly. In the PC it goes faster but not as fast as straight from the wall.
Try plugging the charger in a wallplug, see if that helps? And also if you really want to charge by PC, flash a kernel (see Franco's thread) and put it on "Fast charge USB", then it should go at the same speed as wallcharged. (dunno how on stock rom)
-------------
If you meant that you've charged by plugging it into the wall in OP, then I'm sorry, I don't know Or just a faulty charger.

Do you have a custom kernel installed? Maybe there is a faulty setting in there. Worst case scenario is RMA, but try having the phone plugged in and then power the phone down. Once it's off, press the power button (don't hold it) and see if a battery animation comes up. If it does, then keep it plugged in for a few hours and see if it charges any faster...
try a different cable. For me, the cable went bad. when connected to the oem wall wart, my phone would sometimes be charging USB, sometimes A/C. After changing the cable (not the wart), always charges A/C now.
Install a battery utility and verify how much current it is drawing.
Ok I just receive my Axon 7 Wednesday. After draining, I charged it with included charger and cable. Quick charge is working but it keeps on disconnect/connect cycle for every 5-15 secs. It's annoying as hell since screen goes on and off with sound! I tried it charging it thru pc and it works fine. Also, the charger have a buzzing sound (coil whine). It sounds like its going to explode so I never tried to charge it more than 10 minutes on 2 tries. Luckily, my sister note 7 quick charge works fine with it. So, is the included charger faulty? Should I contact zte for this?

I would contact ZTE - my charger is quiet. You sure the buzzing sound waqsn't from your sister's note 7?
Same issue here, except oddly it only starts to connect/disconnect from the included charger if I try to turn the screen on while it's charging. Once I put it back in standby it stops. For now i'm using an older non-Quickcharge Samsung charger and it never happens with that one. I'm within my exchange period though, considering exchanging the whole thing rather than taking a chance that it isn't the charger and then ending up with a refurb from ZTE because my 15 days is up to exchange in store.
It also makes some sound, but it's very quiet.
I'm having exactly the same issue. I bought one, had this problem, exchanged for another, same problem. Also, I've tried a couple of different chargers and cables and it's always the same. I've noted that if I charge while it's off, there's absolutely no issue, so it makes me believe that it's just a software bug.
hi,is that A2017U or A2017G?

Hello everyone
I have a coolpad cool s1, virtually identical to the le pro3 x720. Stock rom (version 19. something if I remember correctly, default one from grossoshop), rooted.
The other day, the battery was 3%. I plugged it in the charger when I went to sleep and it didn't show charging. I didn't make a big deal out of it, because the power extension cable has bad contact. Thought I would figure it out the next day. Next day I couldn't get it to charge in other plug. Phone has since died. At first, the red indicator light would blink whenever I would plug it into a charger, now it doesnt even do that anymore. I've tried about 5 different adapters (quick charge, non quick charge, laptop) and 3 different cables. I've tried holding down pretty much every combination of buttons for two minutes, in the charger, out of the charger, just before charging. I can't get the phone to do anything at all. When its in the charger its still very cold so I assume its not charging at all.
I've seen some other posts on here, but none really offered me a working solution. I've tried to get the phone in qualcomm recovery mode, but laptop is not detecting any device.
I've had the phone in use for about half a year, I can send it back if I want but it takes long time and I would like to keep my data if possible. Any suggestions? Phone is a literal brick right now.
Here could be part of the problem it is not a leeco le pro3.

One last thing to try will your battery show charging?
Hold down power bottom and plug charging cable hold for 30 seconds.
If this fails you could have bad battery.
Try this hold volume up and down and hold down power button same time and plug in charger hold for 30 seconds.

Well, don't be too worried. Replacing the battery on this phone is a fairly straightforward process. It has the same internals as other LeEco phones: http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/leeco-le-pro-3-teardown/
Also, never ever let a lithium-ion battery, AKA any smartphone battery drop to less than 15%. You'll ruin the battery for good that way.

I try my best not to when I can
The thing is, the battery still had excellent capacity before this happened. I don't understand that it would be broken, seems more likely that something with the charging circuit is broken. Or I found 1 guy on a youtube video who had seemingly exactly the same problem and claims that just disconnecting and reconnecting the battery will fix it.
The phone is only half a year old and bought from within europe from reseller, I contacted grossoshop and they say they will RMA, but I don't want to be without good phone for two months, will have to consider my options..
Or if anyone here comes up with any revival suggestions that would be even better

Not wanting to take a heatgun to my phone, I ended up sending it back over warranty. If I knew that they would take so much longer than promised, I would have fixed it myself
Also the warranty note from what I assume comes from leeco itself, they claim to have replaced battery + charger circuitry + charger itself.
I do have to add that since it returned from warranty, I could not get my phone to charge using any of the android 8 roms so I'm stuck with an android 7 rom :s

You could try using an EDL cable such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/MagiDeal-Qua...-4&keywords=EDL+cable+for+all+Qualcomm++usb+c
Also the 4PDA website has a whole section dedicated to this phone. You may get some better feedback there. Even though the S1 is pretty much the same phone as the Leeco, Leeco users will not relate to the steps you took to turn it into a leeco pro 3. Next, one resolved you may consider using the most Miui roms, ( see last few pages of miui thread) The Ares rom uses S1 fingerprints, and the S1 Vulkan kernel, I enjoyed that Rom quite a bit, until I found dotOS, which is better.
Thank you for the reply, I had seen your reply but I was in a pretty busy period so I just decided to just roll with the android 7 rom for a while. However recently I've decided to give it another shot, I would really like to have that aospextended rom

I was using that one for some short time, but it gave me a poor battery life
