[APP] Talking Alarm / Morning Briefing - Android Software Development

What is it:
Its a minimalist app, designed to emulate Briefing option in touchwiz based samsung devices.
A while ago I switched to CM on my Note 2 and this was the feature that I missed the most.
For those who haven't used it, its essentially does one thing, and one thing only: Instead of ringtone/alert/songs, it dynamically grabs news/stocks and reads it to you.
It does not replace or the stock alarm functionality. Instead it works with it. You can turn it on and off independently. Also, it is much more flexible and customizable compared to sammy briefing.
It is a WIP so if you encounter any bug or issues, do let me know.
Feature requests are also welcome.
Grab it from Google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.parsecgames.dynamicringtone

Many of you have already used or seen the Iphone or the Pre's universal search function. I thought that it would be a great idea to somehow implement that into our Phones.
Currently I can slide out my Verizon Touch Pro, start typing "Ama.." and get any Amanda, etc that I have in my phone's contact list.
I'm not thinking this has to be an extensive application, but much like the other phones, it takes advantage of what already is in place on the phone.
It could essentially be:
1) Any / all applications with the same name / letters
2) Contacts
3) "Nothing found? Search Google for: "......."
I have no skills at this sort of thing, just wondered if it were possible to replace WinMo's current universal search and replace it with a slightly far more reaching one.

Is there a way to get the Power control widget to work on the Nexus 6p?

Well my Nexus 5 has this and really use it a lot. But I can't get the widget on my Nexus 6p for some old reason. Anyone know how. Here it is on my old Nexus 5.

I've only gotten the xposed plugin (M7) to do anything similar. Maybe you could find the apk that controls it and export it.
I use the power toggles app. Works great.
Yup I am using it as well. looks like google removed that useful widget for this phone.

Edge Feeds (Like LL/MM)

Honestly, I'm not sure how interested I am in pursuing this further, but I found it interesting that I have been able to come close to getting working edge feeds on our devices.

I used the same technique that was effective for me in Edge AutoCocktail to enable the feature on flat devices (note4/5, s6/7).
But it's buggy. As above, you can see the bottom portion of the lockscreen under the blocking panel. And even though I can download and install feeds, I can't see or enable them.... probably needs a modified services.jar and/or cocktail.apk
Anyway, I kinda like AOD, and I don't have the skill to mod java...just posting what's possible.

Hey Mr. Rugged, good to see ya here! Getting my S8+ on Monday - was going to hold out for the Note 8 but couldn't resist..
Understand that this would be time-consuming, but I loved your app on the S6E+ and will follow any progress?

Long hold back to kill?

Hey Guys!
I'm kinda missing the feature of holding back button for a 1,5-2sec to kill app that is in full screen. It's missing in +5 for some reason. Any ideas how to replace it? I didn't find a port for now. Device is rooted ofc
hope they will implement in stock rom... Why don't we input this request in their system ? If we will be many, they will hear us maybe
I'm running 7.1.2 LineageOs on my OPX and have the option, in developer options all the way at the bottom

Well, All In One Gestures on the play store allows you to do this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures
It requires root and a bunch of permissions if you feel it's needed.
I also use All In One Gestures just for Back to Kill

Possible AOD within leaked Oreo?

I was going through SD Maid and freezing apps, when I came across an app called "OPAod" com.oneplus.aod, and in my overly hopeful mind, this could mean OnePlus AlwaysOnDisplay. I went through the bools and found some similar code to that for the Pixel 2, "doze_display_state_supported". Did a cursory Google search for the package, and couldn't find anything outside of file hosts. Any thoughts?
(My work computer blocks imgur, so I'm not sure if the pictures will work)

Google added an always on display option for all its phones including the Nexus ones as part of the Oreo update. It's possible One Plus is considering a similar feature but hasn't enabled it yet.
