Does anyone know if the TMO ROM will run on the ATT variant? I have a sgh-i497 with cwm recovery and root.. If I try and load this rom and it fails, is it as simple as restoring a backup from cwm to get my ATT ICS back?

I am not a expert, but since TMO does not have LTE, you might be missing a few things and problems. Hopefully someone who has more knowledge will drop by. Not too much support for the AT&T variant.

Ive been using roms since 2009, this galaxy s 4 has caused me more grief than I can believe, Ive never had a problem. Do i need to do this loki method? Im used to simply rooting, installing CWM from market, then booting into recovery and flashing the rom I want. This time I motochoppered and it worked, installed CWM from market, then installed a rom for the i9505 cuz googled EFFED me when searching. Now says system software not recognized by AT&T and wont boot or boot into recovery. Only download. So im waiting on stock firmware to try and odin the stock firm ware. Once i do and if it works, can i just motochopper again, install CWM from market, then flash a rom for the actualy AT&T galaxy S4 or do i need this loki business? Some help explain the new ways of the S4 to me please.
If its att your working with your kernel needs loki. Im pretty sure that oudhs recovery does autoloki but as I'm on a Canadian variant with unlocked boot loader this is a subject that doesn't affect me. If you are very uncertain you can look in your roms zip folder. It should have boot.lok instead of boot.img for a loki'd kernel.

You either need an auto Loki recovery, a loki'd ROM or a loki'd kernel or if you have none of those you have to flash Loki doki after you flash the rom

Depends which recovery you go with.. OUDHS CWM recovery by shabby penguin will auto Loki for you so you won't have to worry about it anymore... Instructions on how to install are in the OP of his thread.. Once you have an auto Loki recovery you can flash at&t T-Mobile and i9505 Roms with ease.. Usually only having to add the LTE APN if that.. Sprint and Verizon Roms can be flashed too but they take more work to get going.. DO NOT FLASH ANY i9500 Roms!
Unfortunately for us Loki is needed to bypass the boot loader security checks preventing us from running custom Roms and such
The thread Axman pointed you to contains more info about Loki.. Definitely check it out..

LMFAO
All good suggestions--
Read this also, only 14 pages.
Until I read this--more than once
I did not understand loki, as when reading other threads there were only brief statements on loki and I could not tie things together
It just takes some time, and with your backround should come together quickly
These are not the droids your looking for.

Swapping from T-mobile to AT&T, couldn't unlock the T-Mobile phone to get it working on AT&T. Can I make a TWRP backup of CM11M6 install on the M919 and restore it to the I337?

You probably can't get twrp on the i337. Any firmware newer than mdl and it won't work

Thanks! Probably better to install fresh and restore what I can from Titanium Backup anyways. I got the phone used and it looks like the previous owner installed SafeStrap, I'd never heard of it before but I think I can see the usefulness of it... Anyhow, SafeStrap appears to use TWRP.

Safestrap is a recovery based on twrp. Find out your firmware version. It'll determine what you can do with the phone. Sounds like it's already rooted with safestrap so you don't have to go through that headache. You'll only be able to flash touch wiz based roms. Look in the general forum for info based on your firmware version

I loves me some CM11 !!!! This could be a deal breaker.... I know, I know... I got myself into this fine mess.
I have a Sprint version Galaxy S5 [G900P] that I just rooted. I would like to try installing some custom ROMs on it, but I cannot find a ROM that says it supports the G900P. Most of the ones I found on this site (Carbon, Alliance, X-Note, Phoenix, etc) say they support the G900F, and a few have some other models supported. Yet none of them mention the G900P. Is it not possible to install custom ROMs on the Sprint version of the S5 at this time? Or will the G900F ROMs work on my version?

You're looking for this forum. It contains only information regarding the SGS5 Sprint Variant (G900P).
Happy flashing, and always remember to backup! I personally use Philz CWM Touch Recovery.

Thanks for the info! I use Philz CWM as well, and I've really had no issues with it! Definitely backed up prior to flashing. As a side note, is it safe to rename the backups made by Philz CWM? I currently just have two backups, one of stock ROM right after installing Philz, and one after flashing RDDT. I can imagine that after trying a few other ROMs, it will get a bit complicated to keep one from the other.

Unfortunately, I have no clue. I'm guessing, since it's based off of CWM, that you can, but like I said, I don't know.

Yes there is a way, theres an app you can install called Autorec, this application will automatically set up a Custom Recovery for you to backup your files, here's a Link to get started.

Thanks for the fast reply, well i read this comment on the link you game me, im just curious and also worried that i might brick my phone, cause im a total noob when it comes to these things,
Here's some of the comments i read about D802T
"Please note you cannot install custom recovery in stock KK via any method for the D802T Australian variant and get it to boot. LG has not released kernel source code for Aussie variant, for KK, so Loki exploit does not work. If you want a custom recovery under KK you will have to install a custom ROM with already patched kernel. If you plan to stay on JB 4.2.2, however, you can indeed root and/or install TWRP without hassle on stock."
"u cant use this on the Australian version D802T.
It will soft brick your phone."
Now what should i do? im just very confused.

there is a way to do it. Follow the guide and root kk but before you install autorec, make sure you have a custom rom zip ready to go on your phone sdcard and whilst still in TWRP (dont try to boot into kk yet), simply flash your custom rom, and then the phone will boot normally.
Is rom toolbox capatible with Verizon Gs5 SafeStrap. Is it even compatible with Verizon gs5? If it is, what type of recovery should I select in the options?
Anybody that has even tried?
What is your goal for using RT? You cant flash a custom recovery unless you have an unlocked bootloader Dev edition phone. If you try to flash a recovery on a locked phone you may brick it.

Yes, but it is not the same thing as simply installing a custom recovery on your phone. Just install Safestrap from the thread you referenced.

I have installed right now. So I should just keep away from Rom Toolbox for now?
It depends on what your using rom toolbox for,if your trying to do anything that's recovery depend ( flash roms/zips or recoverys) don't use rom toolbox use ss but for anything else it should be fine at least I haven't had any issues with the s5 or other phones with locked bootloader (dx2 & d2g) but as with everything UEMV, backup ect. and I am not responsible....
