Kindle fire as a headunit ? - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

hey guys hows it going, new to kindle, new to rooting, just thought I would like to let you guys know im starting to make mount kits for the KF HD 7, I am just working on completing mine now but the KF kinda lacks audio quality I want to my amp, so I paid (yes people do this) to have somone root my KF 7 and put jelly bean on it (an os IM more used to) and from there I was wondeirng what music apps and what gps apps should I put on my KF and how do I go about doing it, right now the KF has an unstable version of CM 10 and apitode, so I basically need advice,
also I saw how to remove a lock screen one the kf but shouldnt jelly bean do that anyways ?
also I will post pictures of the head unit once I have painted THANKS XDA :fingers-crossed:

You put jellybean on your kfhd7? So you found someone smarter then Hashcode who built you a custom kernel and they have yet to release it to the world?
... Hmm....
Edit* My advice would be to do what the rest of us are doing – wait for a stable version of 10.1.

Jelly bean on kfhd7 (already)? Pics or it didnt happen

In that comment there are some provocations-stupidities-nonsense that bring more laugh than anything else.
The most remarkable is: "so I paid (yes people do this)"
JAAAAA, JAAAA.......He thinks that all our struggle is to save money.....JAAAAA....

Hey you never know.... But in this case you can be sure he is lying or completely deluded...

pimp my beat and xloud
I noticed that the kffirstaid package allows you to install pimp my beats and xloud. I'm not much of an audiophile, so I am curious if these make a noticeable difference. I don't think they affect the analogue out for headphones, but I'm not sure about hdmi. I'm curious if anyone has screwed around with that.
Do you know if the dac in the kf is any good? I heard it was like $4, but I'm not so sure if it's decent.
Just a few ideas to play around with...Let us know.
Fyi - the audio upgrades can be installed much easier via the pimp my rom app.

yes im such a douche, anyways, custom rom jelly bean, whats the difference, jellybean is the OS where as the ROM makes her look nice?
also there is nothing wrong with admitting that I am a noob, and even if I did pay someone for this is because I have no where near enough time to even try and figure rooting a stupid ****ing tablet, also I paid him 10 dollars, and hashcode comes out with cm 10 and jelly for the fire 7 ill probably pay him again to throw that on there

It's odd, because it has the same price as the other high end tablet and it was the most popular as i said i considered it a NEXUS tablet, and it will probably not be the second one to receive ICS either, that will be the asus transformer
It's crap because not only wa the xoom branded as a GED ...
... not only did the Android team happily blog that ICS compiles for Xoom right out the gate with no tweaks ...
... not only did team EOS get leaked Chinese drivers to make everything work ...
... Motorola _still_ couldn't be bothered to get the update out in time.
Seriously they lined themselves up to have almost zero work on this port ... and they still blew it.
i also bought the xoom thinking it would be treated differently as it was the first "google tab" i have yet to see any special favoritism towards this device.

test..................
What a shocker Motorola borked an update, I guess they are too busy putting out 3 new phones and tablets every week to be bothered to do updates if google doesn't fix them they are done
I paid more for this thing when other tablets were out just so I didn't have to wait for updates...... Guess I was wrong
For the record the "test" wifi users signed up for last week still has not been released
Or maybe they don't want to look like dicks because Google bought them. Maybe Google want everyone to see that Motorola isn't its bff..... or its just the same old Motorola doing what they do best...nothing. you know what will put a cherry on top? Locking the boot loader.
From the sound of things for the soak test Wifi users were signing up for, Google is in control of the update, which makes sense, since it is a GED after all. It may not be Motorola's choice/decision.

Welcome here.... I remember you from the Evo4g forums before I moved to the 3d
You can make some nice changes to it without rooting it, like installing a different launcher.

Haha that reminds me, when I first got my KF and was using it non stop, going back to my phone (Droid X) it just felt tiny in comparison!
Hope you enjoy it, it really is a fun little device!
I've only had my fire for about a month now and I think I spent more time flashing new roms tweeking and setting them up then flashing another the really using it.
Ive been using my kindle so much I forgot I had a phone... I was like you when I got my kindle, didn't want to root it just yet as I wanted to see what I could do stock. The inner tech geek wouldn't let me leave it 100% stock though, rooting it on just stock doesn't change that much, but its nice to know I can do whatever on it and I don't have to worry about rooting later. Now I'm waiting for ICS to become stable and I will be a happy as can be.
Non-rooting stuff to do.
What you can do (if you want to) is allow installation of 3rd party apps in your setting and download Go Launcher, you might want to do some research on it to see if you want it. but it is ridiculously awesome. Google golauncher apk download also you can download apps off of google, they just have to be in the apk format. Have fun, i know i've been hooked on it for the past 2 months,

Most people do not Root their devices because they hear a lot of horror stories. Usually from other people who don't enough to fill a thimble with their knowledge. Either because they don't seek the correct information, or they do not follow directions properly. Believe me I'm related to a few of them . Know it alls, who nine out of ten times cannot even explain the terminology they throw around when they're " giving advice". If you take the time to explain to someone the Pros and Cons of Rooting a device. Hand them all the information you can, and let them make an informed decision. Most, not all, but most will choose to Root their device. I'm done with my rant . Now back to what I was doing. Rooting a device for one of those miscreants whom I refered to.

Trust me when I tell you, I know. I am running ICS on my Samsung Epic device, which only supports GB. LOL.
No matter how good our developers are, they still need Samsung to do their part. FOR EXAMPLE... Take a picture with your 10.1 using ANY ICS ROM that our developers have put together. Plus, to be completely honest, we shouldn't have to count on our NON-PAID, VOLUNTEER devs to make the software everything that it SHOULD HAVE BEEN when released from Samsuck.

I am in the same boat as you. I should of learned with the Captivate how they do things in regards to updates but I didnt. The only way I will still buy a Samsung product is if they are making the next nexus phone or tablet. That way factory images will be provided and then I can just flash the updates myself and not have to wait for them to update it for me.

Just came to say hi!
I have spent most of the time with stock ROM, and just tried Revolver/Revolution. I am sure you get lots of answers. Anyway don't hesitate to drop by the ROM thread. You will get lots of info there.
Good choice on getting this device. There are lots of other things coming out, but too be honest, none of them really warrant a tablet swap (well, maybe the Surface tablet because it's definitely different by a crapton), and this tablet gets a lot of attention from the devs. Have fun flashing roms! I've gone from Prime to Revolution to EOS to CM9 to EOS-Jellybean-Nightly. It's great having so many capable developers willing to work on this tablet .
On a side note, my name is Calvin, and I have an orange tabby named Hobbes. Completely unrelated, except CalvinH has the picture and stuff.
Haha, thanks for the warm welcome guys. I was starting to feel alone here.

I have used Android revolution HD, revolver, TEAM EOS JB, ASOP JB.. all of them good... do not install JB ROMs as they have some bugs like low volume and 1080p video playback... so they r stable but still not completely cooked... all ICS ROMs are really good... personally I love revolver ROM..
When you decide to flash, be careful to read everything about the tool including comments

As for roms, ARHD is great! I ran it for a while with a stock kernel and had a great improvement over the stock rom. Im now on revolver 4.1.1 on a guevor kernel overclocked to1.5GHz. Got noticeably better battery life not overclocked on the stock or another guevor rom but ive only been OCed for about a day and all im doing is stressing and pushing it to see what it can do now.
Personally, im staying away from the JB roms till everything works.
