Any chance for MIUI on TF300? - Transformer TF300T General

MIUI v5 which is Android 4.1 based...any chance for it?

ok i know Nexus 7 is supported, so it could be possible...

Why port it when it isn't something that is highly desire by most users?

MIUI isn't designed for Tablets, but you can try it yourself with this guide or other porting guides. Just don't port it from a device which has a very different resolution/inch etc.

both nexus 7 and TF300 have 1280x800 and are Tegra 3 based, so with Nexus 7 being officially supported, i see good chances.
only difference due to screen size is the DPI value: 160 on TF300 vs 215 on N7

It's less to do with whether it CAN be done, and more whether it SHOULD be done. It can be done, but do you really want to use a 10" tablet in portrait mode? Frankly, I think MIUI would be terrible on a tablet. And this is from someone who loves MIUI on phones. MIUI just isn't a tablet ROM.

didn't know it doesn't support landscape...yet.
anyway MIUI looks better than any CM or AOKP put together, at least on phones.

People have been requesting landscape support since Froyo in 2010. It's not gonna happen. But I agree that it looks a million times better than anything else on phones.

Why would the xoom, being the first honeycomb tablet, be first for these things?
Samsung makes touchwiz for its products, so it would never be available for a Motorola device first. Regardless of which tablet came first.

Does the Xoom have the same audio codec WM8903 as the Galaxy Tab 10 and Transformer? If not, then that's probably why we don't have Voodoo sound.
I dont understand why in motorola section our dev are so conservative...i think that people bought honeycomb tablet vs ipad for play a little.

Any ROM port suggestions?

What ROMs do you guys want? I ported MIUI to epic and am working on other stuff there. I can probably port MIUI ICS when we get CM9. What do you guys want though? HTC's Tablet Sense?
EDIT: I have the WiFi version btw, so if anyone wants carrier specific versions of ROMs, tell me what to change or just take my WiFi Roms and add support for your carrier.
No idea, i would love a source built ICS ROM but I hear CM9 is on the horizon and to my knowledge no Tegra 2 device has a GPU accelerated ICS ROM????
Just had to bump the thread and throw some words in..

I can't quite build from source yet. Don't have the skills or the computer requirements (if my pc tried to build ics, it'd probably take days, weeks, months, or even years). I have a netbook and ics takes several hours to build with 16gb of ram so I can't imagine it with only 1 gb.

Don't really know that much about different roms, I've only used CM7 and some smaller ROMs really .
Never used MIUI, but I heard it's nice, so that would be an option.
But personally, I believe people would really appreciate if you have the knowledge/skill to help on CM9 for our tab somehow ^^
And of course, thanks for your work!

Sorry but I don't have the skill or knowledge for cm9, but we're in good hands: pershoot and cyanogen (you know, the guy who started cyanogenmod and the namesake of it). We'll have good builds soon, but apparently theres a non technical issue for all tegra 2 devices.
I can do miui once we get a good cm9 build and I will, but I need for other tablets to be supported because otherwise the resolution will be qhd at best. Either that or I need to find a way to make things support our resolution.

Wait, you meant an actual Sense ROM? Oh there's most likely no way in hell you'll pull that off, that's like 95% impossible. If you actually manage to pull it off though, I'll be amazed. No HTC device has the Galaxy Tab resolution, chip set, GPU, CPU, so some hard care porting is needed. Still, I'll be super impressed if you could get a Sense ROM booting, even if almost nothing worked.

The MIUI port will be a little a way. I am going to wait until another tablet/device with the same resolution as us gets it so that we don't have a crappy resolution and also so that I don't have to manually make files higher res.

If you can take another ROM honestly, I'd like a CM7 ROM. There is nothing about Honeycomb that I think is significantly better than Gingerbread especially with the CM7 features.
Or does it have to be another Tablet ROM like something from the Motorola Xoom or Acer Iconia?
I don't know if this is even possible but I love the UI on gridOS
Its android based but I do no of that's enough
If you don't know what it is look it up on YouTube or something
It looks amazing

MIUI ROM

Throwing it out there as I have the time to pursue but not the hardware - anyone willing to part with a p3113?, I'd like to port over MIUI for the Tab2. If anyone is interested PM me.
For the love of Google, someone get this guy a P3113. Or donate so he can get one! I'll throw a few bones your way Tuesday/Wednesday.
Anyone else interested in MIUI for our tabs? If 25 of us just do $10, this guy, might just deliver something awesome.
Can, you provide us with a little more info on your dev skills; can you handle such a task? Also, a donate button, or paypal link would help your cause, getting donations.

Hah' thanks for the plug. In theory this would be my first full blown rom. Ive always done the testing, never the up front work. I've gotten my tab to the point where I don't even care if JB gets ported to it. Everything works, its stable, snappy, and makes no sense to mess with it.
As for my Atrix4G...that ****s taken a beating and MIUI was my choice. There where too many minor bugs and since I want a phone that works full time, I stopped messing with that and went back to Jokers latest. Searching around I can't find anything for a 3113 and MIUI. In short, if I had something else to fart around with and get it to the point where it works as well as what I'm writing you with...I'd love to share, maintain, etc. Paying for the shorties education, sports, etc comes first...hah. took the honest approach with this one.

Well the GTab 2 is relatively a new device so it takes some time for the community to grow. As for MIUI I have seen the Gingebread version and it's far more superior to stock rom in my previous x10i, so I also like to see the Gtab ICS version of it

MIUI on the Atrix was outstanding - video cam and a few other minor issues is the only thing holding me back there. I could see the potential on a gt2 esp with a kernel mod... who knows, it's just a thought! polska dobra!
Sorry man but if you want a tab 2 then buy one. They're cheap.
Miui would be cool but it wouldn't be hard for any decent developer to port. Plus with the popularity of this tablet miui will come, just a matter of time.

[DISCUSSION] Ubuntu for tablets - Already out for Nexus devices!

Hey guys, today was announced the Ubuntu version for tablets! The system looks amazing! Watch the presentation video bellow
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h384z7Ph0gU&feature=em-uploademail
Canonical already launched a release for Nexus devices. Do you guys think we could see a Rom soon for our beloved device? What did you think about Ubuntu for tablets?
Look at this link for further information: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/02/...by-canonical-nexus-7-download-coming-thursday
And this one too: http://www.webupd8.org/2013/02/canonical-unveils-new-ubuntu-tablet.html
I just can't stop imagining me having this amazing system without onscreen buttons and docking it, turning it magically into the desktop OS...
EDIT: Here is the link for the official Website for the system! https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install
And a tutorial for install: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/02/how-to-install-ubuntu-phone-tablet-preview-on-nexus-devices

Will be interesting to see what comes out of it for out part. The Arch port is being worked on by one dev only, but he has done a pretty darn good job on his own hah. Let's hope this will somehow boost the work of getting a good *nix port to out device!
Well, we could make a petition that they should support TF300
But the first impression seems really good, especially that you get normal ubuntu if you plug in a dock! :good:
I already use Ubuntu on my laptop, it will be WONDERFUL to use it on my TF300T too!!!!:laugh:

Splitscreen to have like 2 apps active at the same time is awesome! Something I miss on Android since I have a tablet
Guess it'd be fantastic to have ubuntu on the tf300t - but I wouldn't dare to flash it without having nvflash as a "super" backup ^^
Two points to make: A) ubuntu mobile its not the same as ubuntu desktop, its framework is based on qt/qml which isnt used at all on unity/ubuntu desktop so its a completely new project.
this its not necessarely a bad thing as a lot of people loathe unity but probably means also that its a bit raw.
B) what they displayed is just a developer preview, far to be ready for shipping to final users so its a given that only a little selection of hardware its supported at this time.
this said I dont see any reason that people shouldnt start working at hacking it for other platforms, and as tf300 is really similar to n7 it shouldnt be extremely complex.
Canonical just released images for Nexus devices. I added a link to the main thread!

He didn't say he wouldn't ever, just that it wasn't worth his time yet, and it isn't. It's currently a very alpha product, with zero developer support yet. He'd basically be porting it for the novelty factor, which isn't much of a motivation. Perhaps when it's in an RC or RTM state, he'd be more willing

The porting guide is up. It says there that it uses Cyanogenmod as the base for the system (using the kernel and some drivers, no android specific) so devices officially supported by Cyanogenmod should be easy to port to. So if someone is brave enough to try this on their Transformer all the information needed is in the link.

Well, one step at a time. First get it to work, then dual boot is the next step.
Finally, it might be possible to run them "together", for example running CM apps in Ubuntu Touch.
I mean by transforming the base Android system into a fully-fledged CM and connect it up to Ubuntu.
Not sure that is feasible yet, but there might be a chance. And it is sure a while down the road.

Really disappointed that it's only a "skin" on top of CM10.1, proper ubuntu is what we need, to actually run linux apps but still, every advancement is positive but I'm not interested in another android port, I like jelly bean as it is, AOSP ftw.

It's not running on top of CM10.1 is running on top of the CM10.1 kernel (and some drivers for the hardware) and I wouldn't say it's fair to call that a "skin". That's like calling every linux distro a linux skin.
true, my frasing is wrong but it doesn't change the fact that it's not capable of running linux apps, it's just another take on android, and on a tablet such as this I'd love to be able to dual-boot into android/linux, let's see where archlinux will take us but with the way things are changing and people upgrading to newer devices this will be left behind as well eventually, and to think that since the first quad core device a year ago today we call the tegra 3 a low-powered chipset compared to the powerhouses coming out, and people still don't have a quad core cpu at their home pcs and laptops, anyway, offtopic, let's see...
as far as I heard from many different people now it is just something to show the skin as main features like wallpaper, rotation and others aren't working yet although they should... Basically I would prefer a dualboot solution with stock ubuntu and android, but just my personal opinion...
