Hi guys,
I started to use android lost, it has some cool features, the problem is it drains my battery like crazy.
Its the main cause for my battery decreasing and the GPS is always on but for some reason there is no indication of it in the notification bar - there the GPS is off.
I tried to remove location access for the application but the GPS remain turned on.
Thanks in advance.
I had this issue too, the gps bug, haven't had it since 4.2.2, when I disabled gps, android would report it running, you have to reboot, the indicator and setting was switched to off, maybe turning it on/off several times?, I will try if it comes back

All of a sudden my battery is draining overnight.
I installed a trial of GPS Tuner the other day and wondered if it's anything to do with it.
I know the gps drains battery but I only used app for about five mins and then shut it (not minimized)
I wonder if GPS receiver is still active after app shuts down.
Does anyone know if there is an app or registry tweak to make sure GPS is off when not needed by an application? Or is there a way to turn it on/off manually?
Thanks
Rog
Normally the gps receiver is turned off, when no application is need. There is a registry tweak to change the time interval after which the the gps is turend off, but the standard value of 500ms should be ok.
Personally I'm using GPSGate, which changes the color of the system tray depending on the status of the gps receiver.
But if you shut down any application that uses gps, it shouldn't be enabled any more.
You should check the processes that are running, maybe it is something different than the gps.
Here is my findings about battery drain caused by gps.
If I turn on gps and then open any app that use gps (iGO and GPS TEST in my case) it works as it should. But problem is when I turn off gps (and close apps) phone can't go to standby mode and it has high battery consumption about 3-6 % per hour.
I noticed that in this situation if I want to unlock my phone, i can activate screen by pressing back button (it should be activated with middle button and power button, only).
If I turn on gps, again, battery drain stops, and it seems there is no battery drain untill I turn it off, again.
I tested this with two roms: GC 8.5 and aticmv2, both with naa08b kernel.
Please let me know Do You guys have this problem, too.
If not, let me know which rom/kernel do You use.
I have the same issue with GingerDx v020 , when i turn gps on and after a while i turn it off it still drains battery so i need to restart the phone to fix that.I dont know if there is any permanent fix .
I guess this is the same on all roms.
By the way, I tested battery life when gps is turned on (but not used by any application) and it seems that it doesn't consume battery at all. after 3h it was 1% consumption in standby.
So, I will left gps turned on all the time, rather than restart phone everytime I use navigation.
My N7 has been working great for a week with the battery life easily lasting over a day for my normal use.
However since yesterday, an app called "glgps" has been using 66% of the battery and I noticed that the GPS icon is always on in the notification bar.
I'm not sure what might have triggered this, any ideas? I tried putting it into airplane mode to stop the GPS, but it made no difference. I now have to reboot it to stop it till something starts it again.
Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

You could turn the GPS off :victory:
same problem...
I'm having the same issue...turning off GPS doesn't help. I have to power-cycle.
I've also experienced this for the past 2 nights. I wake up to a dead N7.
glgps issue
I have been having the same issue with mine for the last few days. I turned off the GPS, turned on airplane mode and force closed any GPS related apps. None of this did anything. Finally on the battery usage screen, I held down on the glgps line and selected the app info popup. This took me to a process called System UI. Finally, after force closing this, the GPS finally shut off.
glps draining battery
This glgps process is also draining battery in my Nexus 7 3G version. It started today, having only about 9 to 10 hrs of battery while normally I do get 1.5 to 2 days on normal use, Curiously enough, today, I didn't use the N7 so the battery should be almost full nevertheless it is at 20% now and going down quick.
glgps is the culprit . I can tell from the settings -> battery menu. But, my thing is that I can NOT touch and hold the glgps line and get an app info popup, that would never happen on my device.
My N7 is a stock Jellybean 4.2.2, rooted but not modified in any way. The Facebook app and FB messenger apps upgraded yesterday...I am thinking they do have something to do with this, at least on my device...but have no way to prove that..yet.
Your comments are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hello.
Is it normal for the GPS to be on when I have turned off location access (both GPS and WiFi)? Are apps able to override this system setting?
I noticed that sometimes even though I have this off, GPS symbol stays in the status bar for hours. Killing suspected apps didn't help. In battery I see 'fused location' using my GPS.
Please see the screenshot.
How do I troubleshoot this?
Thanks,
Show a pic of your battery stats? Any location wakelock?
Hi guys
I noticed countless times that randomly when turning on wifi and then turning it off, the "always allow scanning" under advanced options is ticked.
I noticed this because then under battery usage you will see wifi active even tho main switch is off and 99% of the time that is why.
Is it a lollipop 5.0 bug or is it some of my apps that can switch that option when they detect wifi has been activated?
Also, it seems that if i dont turn on wifi in the first place, that option never becomes active. Battery life is very good on my phone so not a deal breaker....
Anyone knows?
Thanks
