Anyone here hate the update - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

Does anyone here hate the update for the kindle fire hd for some reason I hate it because it made my kindle fire HD somewhat slower then when I had 7.2.3 anyone have the some problem
Sent from my own hell

Well for me I found a slight improvement with 7.3. Things seem a little bit more 'snappier' but it's not that noticeable. I did however perform a factory reset when I updated to 7.3, then re-rooted to start fresh.

Update 7.3.0 wow I like 7.3.0 Very good

Hell yeah. Amazon Kindle Fire HD(7.3.0 software version). After the firmware upgrade has become much less battery to hold a charge for a similar use cases. Also, the tablet has become more warm up at low load (web surfing), but on the old firmware (7.2.3) heating was observed only in heavy applications or games. This is all wrong or am I the only one lucky guy?

I kind of like it. Kind of. I didn't realize it had updated until the adds on the lock screen started showing up. At first I was like . . . impossible, but then I checked and it was confirmed. I had suspicions it had updated because one day it turned off and then turned on again without me doing anything to it. Go Launcher and everything else was working fine so I didn't think about it. I think the update may have made it faster as well.

[Q] ICS Jackpotclavin help please

First and most importantly thank you jackpot and all the other devs working on the ICS rom for the kindle fire. I'm having some issues though. Is anyone else experiencing a lot of lag when opening the app drawer? Or anywhere else? I've flashed plenty of phones but this is my first tablet

I am not experiencing a unacceptable lag with the latest ics ROM when applications are activated.
I recommend to install an application from market to monitor your system resources such as Android System Info application. Kill unwanted applications and how your system performs

Just flashed today, and I'm not experiencing much lag when opening the app drawer. I have to press things a couple times before the touch registers, but that seems pretty normal with the KF.
I did perform a full wipe before installing the latest ICS rom.
It is performing perfect for me with 0 lag and grey touch response. I only notice the touch in gaming really not sway to day things. Might want to try reflashing it cause mine runs smooth as silk. Using 1/19 release forgot to mention
Sent from my Kindle Fire with ICS power
Yeah I would reflash mine runs fine I had one minor SOD issue the first morning I flashed it and never looked back . I have ran this since it was released with sound for the past two days with the only issue is battery last a little less time and it could be a little faster but its just alpha build its why its in the development forum. Jackpot will have this thing screaming when its released stable let's just flash it and report issue

The Two ICS ROMs

So, there's Kindle Zone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430160), and there's the ICS for Kindle (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411895).
If there's anyone here that uses either, I have a lot of questions.
1. What are their pros/cons?
2. Do both have working audio/video and wifi?
3. Which one crashes more?
4. I know that the ICS for Kindle ROM is based on CM9, but what about Kindle Zone?
And finally, which one would BEST be used as a daily driver?
Thanks!
Thats an easy question to answer , the one by JackpotCalvin , It easily has more features than that of kindle zone because one kindle zone doesn't even have working video and the things that JC is starting to integrate into the rom are processing the rom along to become an official rom of CM
Doesn't Kindle Zone have audio/video, just not HD?
So what you're saying is, if I use JC's, I'll have better support in the future?
The reported random SoD crashes seem to be scaring me a bit.
The thread itself warning not to use it as a daily driver is a bit unnerving as well.
EDIT: This (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411895) is JC's ROM, right?

All right, I'll go give it a whirl.
This is a bit unrelated, but can CWM and TWRP use the same flash file format, right? I see a lot of "TWRP" being used around here, but since I'm used to the galaxy nexus, I'd rather use CWM.

Yea honestly i would stick would CWM but on my kindle fire im using TWRP because since the kindle fire only has one hardware button CWM might be confusing for a few people but TWRP is all touch screen so its easy to use and easy to function. If you want I think there starting to make CWM Fucntion on Kindle Fire by using on screen buttons i think i might give it a whirl too

Zone is based on JackpotCalvin's rom
Kindle Zone is based on JackpotCalvin's rom, even it is mentioned there.
Zone is made from Jackpots source. Icons look nice but but the updates will probably come slower to zone. Everything seems to be going well with the newest JC build for me. Wifi works, no FCs sound is good. Occasionally its hard to wake the device but its pretty solid. I like the interface better than the CM7 one so I'm going to stick with it for my DD. I only have my KF to tinker with though so my requirements for a DD are a little low

ReloadedRom Rocks!

After testing many of the KF ROMs around here. I am stick to the ReloadedROM. The latest release 1.1 it is pretty stable... we are just missing a new kernel allowing hardware acceleration and... that is it.
Agreed, the new version of the rom is flawless except for the minor exception of hwa. Has anyone tried to use the blue reflective soft key mod yet? I can't seem to get it to work

I look forward to trying ReloadedRom as soon as I am able to root my Kindle! I am doomed to driver issues on my PCs (tried everything this point) and now await an update to Kindle Water to root on my Mac. Then to flash this rom and abandon stock launcher forever!
Agree! it runs smoothly. On my kindle, it froze when using APEX launcher, but after switched to Trebuchet 0.1, it hasn't had any problem.

Once again, Thank you. I love all the support! My computer kinda crapped out on me but it is working pretty good again, I really should get a new one! The OP was updated with a new bug (build.prop messup [my mistake]) so be sure to read it!
This ROM was my first ever flash on the KF, and I'm super satisfied.
I mistook-ingly believed the lack of HWA would cause the UI to feel choppy and that games wouldn't run fine.
I don't know what lack of HWA is losing me, because everything feels pretty freaking awesome and games run fine.

Do some research into HWA and you will find that is mainly an issue with small pieces of media (some videos, and some games, etc.)

Hello guys.. updating in curse...
Must root again after this?
Also just finished installing. Stalled on me once but just restarted the download and it was fine after that.
PRISM toggle is in SHIELD Power Control setting just FYI, not Display settings like I first expected. When you disable it there is a warning that says:
We recommend that you keep PRISM turned ON for optimum power savings and image quality.

I'm curious to hear if anyone else experiences any extra power drain. I will post if I do. Also anyone have any idea what the other generic "improvements" and "optimizations" are? Definitely hope the WiFi generally is a little better and that it isn't a hardware issue for the poor signal issues I and others have been having.

Thanks for the heads up on the prism settings thought I was going man for sec. ☺
Mixed bag for WiFi for me seems to be holding 300mps which is good, rather than the 24mps.
Get 100+ in the same room as the router, 30-80 upstairs.*
I can dramatically affect these results if I cover the back of the unit with my hands down to almost suffocation. Not good.

Hmm, thats still not good that you can do that at all but is that happening when you have a more natural grip just on the sides as well or sitting on a table? Nobody is probably suffocating it other than to test the interference, though like you said still not good.
Also are you connected to 5ghz or 2.4ghz. I know 5ghz has more issues with range and walls so maybe theres less if its a 2.4ghz connection. 5ghz is obviously preferable but just thinking out loud. Can't do tests myself until work gets out.
Yeah that was using 5g although I'll give the 2g a try as well.

Is battery life better with Chrome Beta?
I tried to side load the ota and it errors at package.zip. copied it over to twrp and when I try to flash it it says it's meant for a flounder while I have a volantis device. I unlocked the boot loader, used CFroot, and flashed twrp after using the factory images for the previous release.
IMO this the same as Q build but for folks like me and many others who could not install becase old recovey. I dont see many changes yet - browsing still drains like 1% every two minutes making this tablet piece of useless electronics.

I'm going to assume you haven't investigated what is causing your wakelocks. because that is abnormal drain time for any device. you are on lollipop, running old KitKat and donut software most likely . there are a number of free LP compatible wake lock analyzing options out there. solve your problems (in turn, help others with same issue), or consider going back to a pager.

Yeah I'm aware of such software and using it on my 1+1. However I wanted to at least try to use my Nexus 9 as "normal user" would do for the first time. Browsing still drains ridiculous amount of battery however I confirm that it is now much better on R build. And heating is much less.
Ps never owned a pager

I got tired of waiting for Google to issue a working OTA for those of us stuck on LRX21L so I flashed the LRX21R factory image. I'm very happy with it and am glad I took plunge. Noticeable improvements on smoothness. Device still gets hots at times but its improved IMO.
FYI.. I tried following googles instruction for flashing the image. It didn't work.. It crapped out on the SYSTEM.IMG.
Manually flashing each of the IMG files went fine though and all is now working great.
Lastly,
I'd like to point out the the device restore feature worked much better than I had hoped. It even managed to keep app data settings on a couple of apps (that don't have sign in accounts).
