ok so I am somewhat new to roms on the HTC Evo. I have only now rooted my phone and am currently running Cyanogenmod 6.0.0. So far I have no complaints, and I do like how much faster/smoother it runs due to not having a ton of sense applications running and using all of the memory. It is the only rom I have really used other than stock. so I am wanting to know what are some good rom's to try out (and which one is the best out there) and why do you use it or like them. I am also looking to get better battery life and as far as I know I have turned off/done all of the fixes to get the maximum battery life. Thanks again, and I will be looking forward to hearing from you guys. thanks again.
Fresh ROM, because it works flawlessly, stable, and lightweight. Excellent battery life. Relatively frequent updates. 2nd choice is CianogenMod, but it is a little restrictive, and I had a few small problems with it.
wow over 100 views and no one wants to add anything lol. I may have come to the wrong forums.....I am looking for roms, the good, the bad and the ugly. I am currently using Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 and have used fresh 3.3. Other than, that, only used stock. Which roms are good for battery life.....which ones are good for smoothness and speed lol. come on I know there are a bunch of guys with Evo's out there. help out a newbie.
CM6 for my main ! its simple fast stable
AVA9 for a sense rom its pretty flawless ! great battery life !
Fresh ROM ... Hey its fresh what more is there to say
Fresh roms are great, I am currently running Calkulin's 1.4 with riptide theme and love it.

I've never used AVA9 but you say the battery life is great, is it better or equal to CM6 or fresh?
My personal favorite is Fresh as well, but AVA is a close second and my current ROM.
I want to like cyanogen a lot but without 4G it's pretty useless to me.

ok very cool. I really like CM6 due to it's simplicity but battery life could be better on my end. I seem to get better battery life on Fresh but then again, I am using whatever kernel's come with CM6 and fresh.
I was running Fresh 3.3 from and the previous Fresh 3.xx. I like the sense UI so I tried out AVA 9. Both have been great, super fast compared to stock and battery life has been far better than stock.
Awesome devs and awesome roms I'll just may end up trying them all

Virus has the best ROMs out there so far. He makes two ROMs, Sense and Senseless, and both have remarkable battery life. Also, everything on his ROMs work. Try him out, you will not be dissapointed.

He makes damn fine roms I wouldn't say they are the best. But they are dam good
From the fade
So far my favorite is Ava. I am getting great battery life(I have my own thread reporting my battery life) and I actually like sense. I used CM6 but I got kind of bored. I probably didn't use it the way it should, but still. I was not impressed with the battery life either.
am i only one who actually like MIUI rom? there are some problems but i actually like it
EViO by Caulkin is the best, by far.
Currently using CM6 just because I like AOSP android more than sense but out of all the sense roms my favorite would have to be Fresh.
Myn's twopointwo is just sex on wheels, err, evo. More than enough said.
I've tried several sense roms but i don't like them personally. I'm currently on Android Revolution HD and i want to try something new. Is there a good CM7 or AOSP rom which is good in interface, small in size and with great battery life?
Thanks in advance
This is a subjective matter, but try these two:
BlackICE - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298283
and
Ultimate Ace - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341251
I also recommend BlackICE or if you want to try Maffia, with Maffia my battery once survived 58 hours , also with BlackIce your battery can survive for 2 days, but the ICS Theme in Maffia is not 100% working so you may not like that and BlackICE had a simple stylish dark theme, and has more features and some more tweaks.
Here are my suggestions, Absolution, BBmod and Black Ice
+1 on Black Ice.
Loving the higher res look and feel. The performance is excellent and its very stable and smooth. Recently tried a sense ROM and within 12 hours came back!
I used to use MIUI a lot (especially when I had my desire). I've had my HD less than a month and loving it.
For further interface tweaks install a different launcher. I use GO Launcher EX
Try CM7.1(nightly) with ICS theme
Fast, smooth, and looks great !
Add Go Launcher EX with ICS theme to make it complete.
I havent tried Black Ice yet.
All of these are good, in my experience:
Maffia 0.1.7 (still in a slightly early/embryonic state, though)
BlackIce 1.23
Absolution 2.0
CM7.1
Helios 0913
There are still a couple I haven't tried, but which look like winners, such as:
Ultimate Ace
BBMod
There is a beta called talon in the talon kernel thread in the inspire forums. It's very good.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
there is another one that you could try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348425
I'm currently on it and I'm very pleased (fast, smooth, minimal, good battery life)
best regards
+1 for the Cyanogenmod 7.1

You could try CM7.1. its great.
Another option is MIUI Freshly squeezed. Its very light and can be a daily use rom.
my 2 cents..
You could try Hydrogen... 63.5 MB total size if i remember correctly....
Others already mentioned... Cyanogen, BlackIce...
MIUI's been very very stable for me.. .never gave me any problems whatsoever... but hey.. to each one his own..
Cyanogenmod? Good battery life?
lol.
i don't have a good alternative for you, but cyanogen is defenitive not that, what you are looking for :3
The Oxygen port which has appeared very recently is the smallest and fastest ROM I've ever used. Testing overall battery life now, but the drain is awesome with any recent LordModUE kernel (sleeps at 3mA within a couple of minutes).
The speed is ridiculous.

I agree, it's an amazing experience. Give it a try, it's Sense-free.

+ 1 for Freshly Squeezed MIUI
I have also tried Cyanogen and the new ICS port from BeatMod. Cyanogen doesn't interest me too much, but the ICS port is cool although lacking in functionality right now.
Been using Freshly Squeezed for a couple of weeks and it is dramatically different then the other stock ROM's (looks iPhone-ish), but some of the extras really make it a good option.
My favourite features of Miui:
- SMS pop-up notification, allows you to respond to an sms within another app
- Long-Press close apps - long press back in an app to end the task
- Weekly ROM updates
i get great battery and performance on MIUI ROM's downloaded from miui.us nowhere else
I was just wondering what advantages does the 2.6.35 based Miui has compared to its predecessor 2.6.32? I find 2.6.32 based Miui pretty neat, fast and stable (not to mention the fact that I can flash it without bricking my phone...again ), what do I gain flashing 2.6.35? I heard the camera is better but what else?
Just wondering, not trying to provoke anyone. Feel free to write your own experiences 'bout these two versions, their advantages and disadvantages etc.
edit: there's a typo in the headline, sorry....
What i've noticed so far in .35 is lower batterylife, and better 3d.
Lower battery life?
It seems odd because I have amazing battery life. Actually, incredible, almost like a new phone. But then others seem to have bad battery life.
I am using RAM manager only and have my CPU freq set to 1.5ghz/800mhz using Smartassv2.
Yesterday, I took my phone off charge at 6.30am, and I made about 4 phone calls, had 3g on all day and at about 7pm my battery was down to 73%. That is some amazing battery.
You must be joking as 32 was better at battery life and other things. For example gps not working even with cm7

So for a non-gamer you'd recommend 2.6.32 over 2.6.35?

Yes. You have a bit better battery life, and speaker dies not have random noices when using low volume. Camera is better in .35, but it is not reason good enought for updating.
In finnish:
Jos et pelaa, niin älä turhaan päivitä.

No niin vähän ajattelinkin....or as we say in Finnish: "Rodger that"
At the end of the day, do what works for you.
Personally, after installing .35 MIUI and calibrating my battery, I noticed a massive performance boost and noticed the battery was lasting a lot longer. My phone is working much better then before.
But as I said, it can be different for everyone. Some people have noticed the same as me, some people have had it worse.

And so I did...kind of anyways. The curiosity got the best of me and now I'm on 2.6.35 which is working beautifully so far...Gotta hand it to our devs once again, they make the average cheap u8800 to work at a totally different level compared to the boring stock ROMs.
For me it was a great update. Touchscreen, battery life, speed and camera, are the great improvements that keep me using it, now with the miui rom...
Hey Guys
Looking for suggestions on what rom would be good for my GF's U8800
pretty sure its got the good screen, not the one with the problems
Currently running Miui-32 ProjectX V1.51a but its a bit buggy and i figured it would be a good time to move to an ICS based rom
Does anyone have any suggestions? I need good battery, smooth and bug free (within reason)

CM7.2 .32kernel from ezet.
Aurora ICS is pretty much the only stable ICS ROM for u8800.
Gingerbread ROMs are also pretty stable.
Since it is for a girl, go for MIUI ROM by forumber2, because it has good design and theme support (good for girls).
Good Luck!

Thats right, but Xperia Style rom is better, everything works and its like xperia mf...
For costumization you con use a launcher that alows themes and stuff like that.
Aurora and MIUI, on my phone, can't use Wi-fi, so not stable and bugfree....
Xperia style everything works and has a good battery duration...:good:
Sorry for my bad english

I posted the link in comment no 4 .. And for me no lags at all camera is good and you can install moto or htc's camera to get very good quality
+1
Just installed the ROM and it's the fastest and lag-free AOSP rom I've found.
+1 for PA. I have gone through almost every ROM available for my D851 and either had lag or heat issues. Holy crap this one is smooth. I'm running it now with Nebula kernel with the bioshock governor and heat issues are gone. It had been hitting 70C just charging and using Chrome, now it stays below 60, and right now is hovering at 55C. I miss a couple of features, but it is too slick to change.
Exodus is the best aosp rom for me
and the camera quality?
Well I'm on stock Rom with Gabriel kernel on Smartmax governer and Alucard hotplug ... And the phone is very good in battery and performance ... It reaches 49 °C when idle or screen off & 55-60 °C when charging and used for some time .... It hits 70°C on heavy usage ... And performance outs really good ... Very minimal lags some times but with animations adjusted to 0.5 in developer options out seems blazingly fast ...

What makes it so good? I'm making a decision between this and Exodus, based on stability and battery life. I might end up trying this first since I'm hearing so much good about it and I'm a fan of PA from my Oppo days.

Aospa was my favourit rom until it didnt support xposed(the new update support xposed) and then i try tesla.
tesla 2.1: that rom is perfect,support xposed,remember my wifi passwort,no lags,super smooth,very good battery life,rro layers and 47400 antutu. 2months without issues.
