Login Failure - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I keep getting a (as far as I can tell) completely random 'login failure' popup when using my phone, theres no information as to what app has the problem. There are no apps I've noticed I'm signed out of, all work normally. Any ideas?

Long press the notification and select "app info"

Can't seem to long press it, the notification appears like when you sync your accounts.

Just want to gove this a bump. I have been experiencing this same problem for the past week, and it only happens on my nexus tablet, not my phone. I havent been able to pinpoint the issue.

I get this on occasion when I'm in an area with a weak data signal and the email app checks for emails, but gets a login failure.

AW: YouTube app Sign-In
I had to login a few times only today, and I have been running 4.2.2 for a week already, and there were no youtube app updates recently. So it's just a coincidence and will hopefully stop soon.
Did anybody find a fix for this?
I've still got this issue and its getting to be quite annoying now
I find it sporadic, can go days not needing to login then have to do it twice in a day, very random
Least its easy to login!

Re: YouTube app Sign-In.
It can't be just on 4.2.2 because it happens on my S3 too, which is still on 4.1.
Maybe an issue at the server end then, thanks for letting us know

[Q] apps don't run in the background

I don't seem to be getting notifications from apps except a few like Gmail, cloud SMS & play store. I don't get from fb, fb chat, XDA etc. It seems like they don't really run in the background. It especially clear in games that they shut down as I leave them.
Don't have any of these problems on my Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2.

Are you enabling notifications within those particular apps? And do you leave games with the home or back button?
Many games will have to do some reloading if you switch away from them.

They all have notifications activated and I always use the home button. Sometimes I actually do get the notifications but it's like half an hour later then my gnex where it's instantly.

Is this when the screen is off? If so, do you have WiFi set to never sleep when screen is off?

Same here, my Nexus 7 almost NEVER gives me Notifications, and if it does its as you say like 30mins/1hour late, so by that time I've already seen what its notifying me of.
Very annoying !!
WiFi is one when screen is off.
Can't reproduce the problem on my gnex, it's just weird...

Notification Delay

I have a delayed notification issue on my device. Whether I'm on stock version , the issue is still there. Even I used an app called push notification fixer, it still can't help. So anyone can help me pls??

This is a known issue. Gotta be patient and wait for Google to fix

Yeah the fix is coming straight from Glados, with cake.
You can either try setting a static arp on your router or you can change some system files. There is a thread around here somewhere called wifi fix or something

Nexus 4 restarting at random times since 4.3.?

My Nexus 4 does get hot (who's doesn't) and when it does, it likes to restart. This hasn't always been the case, only since the 4.3 update. It happens on Snapchat, Instagram, Google+, XDA and others. Any ideas why? Anybody else?

Hi,
Mine is getting hot, but never rebooted.
using instagram, google+, xda, facebook all this and all good.
The reboots occur to my device but the device doesn't get hot, probably related to the JSS15 deadlocks?
So why you don't came back on stable 4.2.2?

Mine does on snapchat

Mine does this at random times (recording video, typing a text). Happens every 2-3 days since I upgraded. Going to wipe it and put 4.2.2 back again.
Mine is running great doesn't seem to hut down anymore. 4.2.2 always did while charging and Wi-Fi.. Not anymore

Mine only reboots on Skype video calling, but that has been confirmed on Skype forums to be a known bug with 4.3, also it doesn't seem related to heat.

Battery help needed - 14 hours until flat!

As per the title, I am finding on a daily basis that I am only getting 14-15 hours Max.
I only have one homescreen with no Widgets on it.
I have 3 mail accounts, 2 are exchange, 1 Gmail.
No live wallpaper,
Been in a good signal area most of the time, send maybe 10 texts a day, very few calls. No music listening, no picture taking.
Phone is a uk phone d802 supplied by 3 but reflashed with generic open firmware to remove 3 bloat.
Any ideas what's going on or how I try to resolve it?

Don't know if this helps to see where problem is
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Might be an app sucking the battery or a bad flash. Try reflashing the firmware. Do a factory reset before the flash and one afterwards.
Also, install GSAM battery monitor.
Disabling knock on might help as well. However if you do find a solution without disabling knock on please let me know.

try regular procedure found everywhere on how to determine wakelock.
also check for battery unfriendly settings. like email sync settings, push is friendliest, check-in every minute keeps phone awake lol.
but most importantly, state what you do in these 14 hours. How many is the screen on. etc.

I think I can do this from the standard task manager can't I? Sure there is an option to stop services. Don't really use Google now so will not miss that.
Screen time on from my screenshot yesterday was 12% don't know if that's considered high etc.

Have two exchange accounts that are push and one Gmail set for every hour.
Generally just viewing Facebook, bit of browsing and 1-2 calls a day if about 5mins. Occasionally streaming tv services for about 30 mind.

Try turning off reporting and history in Google location settings. As helped my phones battery tremendously.
Sent from my VZW LG G2
yeah, set Gmail to push,
turn in settings locations off
in Google settings also
turn backup off,
reboot, check if settings were saved
install betterbatterystats from play or this forum. with that check kernel and partials. Google what they are and mean.
Also check deep sleep percentage in cpu spy. should be, pending you keeping awake around 95% in period off charger.
success
