Obviously there are no 'optimal settings' because then every ROM would use them by default. It may be possible to give some good settings if you specify your usage more.

Settings link to standard Windows settings screen

When HTC Sense is enabled the "settings" link in the program screen is linked to the settings tab/pane in HTC Sense. When Sense is turned off in the Today-settings, the same link points to the standard setting screen of windows mobile.
What I want is to make the "settings" link in the program screen to point directly to the standard windows settings (used to be "control panel), or better yet: a standalone HTC settings app then can run outside the Sense environment.
Why? I want to turn of the settings tab in the HTC Sense interface. Something that easily can be done by editing the registry. This way I can manage to minimalize the amount of tabs to 5. Just enough to prevent the disorienting scrolling to the left and the right when selecting a tab.
Can it be done? Is there an easy way to open the windows settings screen while Sense is enabled?
Thanks
You should try BsB Tweaks, one of it's options does just that.
Find it here:

Is there a way how to set it through registry instead of installing a special app on that? Thanks

Thank you!!!! Just what i was looking for....
For who wants to know:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Configuration\12
Setting Enable to 0 hides the Settings panel in Sense.

BsB Tweaks does much more than just this.....Just check out the page and you will find that BsB Tweaks is a MUST HAVE App
Besides lots of tweaks it also makes it easy for you to Add Rotation for programs that do not automatically rotate, and/or add Pinch-to-zoom for programs that by themselves do not support pinch-to-zoom.
If you don't want to install the app, you could ask makeveral how he does the settings Tweak (I wouldn't know).
Pappagallo: Ok, thanks for tip.

Set this to zero:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo:HideSettings
and reset.
But there will be two identical icons for Settings after this. You can delete settings.lnk from the Start Menu to get rid of the HTC Settings.

That's fantastic. Now do you have any idea how to create a quicklink to the new windows settings? Can't find it for the life of me...
yes. noob here. All the *setting*.ink's i can find lead back to the sense settings, or handle different/specific settings entirely.

Facebook updates...when

I don't find any settings about time intervals when facebook is updated...
There is only ON and OFF switch
Can someone please tell me moer about that?
Thanks
It apparently updates every 2 hours. I don't know why there is no option to change this frequency, but it could be that facebook themselves didn't want it any shorter. Who knows!
You can't change this setting - it's fixed.

There really should be an option to change that...
So there is no way to change this, you either have upadtes on 2h or you dont have them?
Maybe registry keys?

but what does the value do?
Try Lumos, works great for me and....its free

there are different values, but I think none of them is the right one. There is a min max value for the backlight, but I think it changes only the values in manual setting of the backlight.
Above suggested Lumos is probably the only way.

try hd2 tweak
Isn't there a reg key that can be changed?
Heared that hd2 tweak is conflicting with an other tweak app?

I think i've found the location of the sound files would need some one to confirm though ...
HKCU/ControlPanel\Sounds\DTMF
DTMF#
DTMF*
DTMF1
DTMF2
ECT.
Don't quite know how to disable though maybe just remove them?
OK i can confirm.. I just deleted DTMF* and upon pressing the * key it will not make a sound.
So just try modifying them rather than delting them.
why not just go in Start>Settings>Personal>Phone and choose keypad off?

LOL! Yeah that is alot easier
There's an easier way to disable the sounds when dialing a number.
Just go in Start menu > Settings > Menu (in the bottom of the settings tab) > More > Personal > Phone (next to Owner informations)
Here you can desactivate the keys sounds.
EDIT : I was late

I did something similar the other week. I looked for a complicated solution to a simple problem.
