There are too many differences between the "regular" Galaxy Tab 7" and Verizon Galaxy tab 7".
One can easily brick their tab by flashing the incorrect ROM.
Almost happened to me, fortunately, it was fool-proof and aborted.
Mods, I do believe it needs to be divided.

Agreed. The Verizon tab is different in that vzw likes to lock bootloaders. This is the exact reason why I only have my phone with them

The Q&A forum has a few threads(including one I started) asking to split this forum as well. As does discussion. It'd be easier as a dev and as a user to stick within a split forum. Even within each developer thread, there's lots of people asking about it working for other devices.
I know that, but on xda it gaves more subforums that have two or three different devices (look on the arc forum there are arc, arc s and the xperia pro in it) i think there is no chance for an own subforum for the verizon tab, too small dev background, but i wish the OP luck, that a verizon tab Forum is possible.

My wife just gave me a late Christmas present, a shining Galaxy Tab to go with my Captivate. Now that I'm part of the XDA Galaxy owners forum, what are the things I can do with it outside the Captivate?? What essential apps and can it be rooted? I'm also looking in the forums but I justed want to make a post just in case I miss some key threads and links. Thanks!

Yes it can be rooted and really its just a giant captivate without all the sweet hacked Roms and kernels to pick from.

That is not the successor to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, its is the 10.1 inch version of the Galaxy Tab 2. Its just really confusing naming used.
It is a low/mid end device and the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be high end.

The 10.1 is the 10.1 inch version of the Galaxy Tab, hence its called Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Tab 2 10.1 inch is the successor, not the Note 10.1".

I think it has gsm calling functions that we miss but it lacks (gyroscope , flash in camera , 2mp front camera , and thicker and heavier ) , may be we could benifit from a port for its rom , it is packed with many useful apps

I'm kind of hoping this is the case but I cannot find any supporting information, albeit at this early stage. I suspect it may not, while GSM calling capabilities will be offered on the 10.1 Note as one point of differentiation, allowing Samsung to position the 10.1. Note somewhat above the new 10.1 Tab2?
Are there any details you have which lead you to believe GSM calling may be an option on the new 10.1 Tab2?

If a forum full of us nerds (or half nerds) can't figure out Samsung's lineup then they are in a lot of trouble. The galaxy 2 10.1 is not our 10.1's successor. Its a 10" version of the new normal galaxy tab. I believe our tabs successor will be called so something else. The dual core 1ghz processor in the galaxy 2 seems like a step back. There's no way a fatter, slower version of our 10.1 can be the next iteration. But the fact that we have to argue about what is what does not bode well for their marketing strategy. Fix your **** Sammy.

Here's a better question... Anyone know where the "water" wallpaper is on the screenshots? I'm digging it!

OK, thanks, I see that...
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_2_10_1-4567.php
"Tablet with support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS."
That would represent a significant benefit over the original 3G Tab 10.1, so now I am wondering if there is new hardware in the Tab2, or maybe the Tab2 ICS ROM might somehow retroactively activate this feature in (3G) versions of the original Tab 10.1.
It's early, and these products have not even been officially launched but my understand now is that there are two new 10" tablet products:
1.) Tab2 10.1
2.) Note 10.1
How these are ultimately positioned with respect to each other, and any previous version(s), remains to be seen/heard, I guess.

OK so after seeing the Galaxy Note 10.1 it is not the successor to our Tab 10.1, but the the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 certainly isn't either. I'm thinking they will have something new for us at their Galaxy SIII conference whenever that is.

there goes my hopes for ICS in SG 10.1
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket with AT&T. I also have an Acer Iconia A500 10" tablet. Both are rooted running custom ROMS. The tablet is actually running a leaked ICS. I have been proposed this offer. A guy has an upgrade available. He wants to buy me a brand new white galaxy note in exchange for these two devices.
If it were you would you accept the trade?
i'm not saying the Note isn't worth it, but my gut feeling is that you could do a bit better in that deal
rooted/custom roms mean nothing with price. sell them individually and buy new

You're missing one important thing in your thread. What are the actual state of your note and tablet? Are they almost new? Really old?
If they all are almost new, then you might better sell them individually. If old, then the deal seems good enough for me (brand new Note)

Wouldn't that confuse users?

Because they essentially have the same hardware, its just they have different screen sizes.
I must a admit, I'd rather they both have separate forums though as it gets confusing at times.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
I'm glad they're together. Much better this way. The Verizon gtab2 needs a development subforum.
There no developement for tb2 .?

From a Tab owner's point of view, yeah... I agree, I sometimes feel I'd rather have 2 separate forums... but if you look at it in a more global way, considering all the devices and subforums in XDA, and how similar both devices are... I probably wouldn't like the idea of 2 forums.
I was confused at this as well being I just landed on one of these tablets. But hey, I don't mind. I look at it as "Oh hey! I have a 7 inch tablet, so I better click on the 7 inch development thread!"
Before you flash just make sure it's capable of flashing on your device for instance I ha gt-p5113

Would rather two separate forums. Confusing when your reading a thread and can't tell which version it's for.

I believe both have similiar hardware specs, just different in the screen size.
But indeed it still have a risk to implement development for 10" in my 7".
Imho.

Very nice. Im about to drop the hammer on a P6810 now that I saw this. After my journey with the Nexus7, I miss the quality of the Tab 2 7.0 I bought for my wife. The 6810 will be a welcome addition. Besides the fact that im not a hardcore gamer anyway.
Came from a nexus 7 because I needed mobile data and I can honestly say I'm happy I did. Now knowing we'll get JB hell yes!

I wouldn't get too excited by one note on one Samsung country site, it could quite easily be a typing error of some kind.
If it's confirmed from 2 more official sources (and that doesn't include 'my friend whos second cousin works in the warehouse') then I'll start to believe it.

I 100% agree with you. I guess I should just start saving up for the 7.7 note
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium
Well, its on a Samsung corporate webpage so that is obviously a plus. Besides that, how can they only push a JB update to the lesser-specced device like the Tab 2 7.0 and not the 7.7?? Really??? The 7.7 is obviously selling, probably not as much in the US as it is across the pond, but its selling nonetheless and is still a viable device!
I don't believe it, google translate has this as the translated text
"Confirm the update" meaning there is no time for it, I'll see it when I believe it
It has nothing to do with specs, the S2 and Note I which are basically the same devices are supposed to receive the update, so the 7.7 could easily run JB from samsung.

many products has confirm the update in front of it, and it did updated now.
and look at this article, there's still buzz going aroung 7.7, so samsaung won't forget it that easy, especially they will use a lot of common sw components from other similar devices, it will be configure and build and retest for them.
