[Q] Physical keyboard map - Transformer TF300T General

I have an unlocked, rooted and flashed system currently running Baked Jelly Bean. I would really like the physical keyboard layout to be Dvorak. Any ideas how I might go about this? I'm willing to consider hacking the kernel, Android, an app, or mashing an app together.

Use some root browser, go to /system/usr/.... /keychar and /keymap are folders you are looking for. Open one of files and remap with text editor.
Or search TF101 forum, someone already did it a year ago. Just copy file to /keymap folder and reboot.

But I am still going to bed, drop me a PM if ya need any help on this would love to try it out!

Seriously not worth the time to port it. You'll end up with virtually the same functionality as Darchstars AOSP 2.1 build. Depending on what kernel your using if you use 2.6.26 then camera and video recording aren't going to be possible and I'm afraid that if you use the leaked HTC 2.6.29 kernel your going to run into problems with the touch screen since HTC has a non standard power management implementation in that kernel that doesn't play nice with android and the touchscreen even though getevent will show screen presses from event1. Unless someone has the source for that 2.6.29 kernel so you could revert the changes. The only good that might come out of the leak is functioning mms and visual voice mail.
I'm merely doing a straight port, going to get it to boot then release it for someone else to mess with.
I'm just saying that for others just because it's a phone from sprint doesn't meant that it's magically going to work. Some people here understand and some don't. It's not impossible port it just that it's not going to be fully functional when it is ported. Your working with something built for different hardware. Sure you can swap the libs to get it going but you'll end up with something we pretty much have already in the AOSP 2.1 build.
I gave in to temptation and I'm working on it too. Converting the factoryfs.rfs is taking forever.
I wasn't able to find a way to convert them... I'd love to know how, but I managed to find a system.img someone dumped shortly after the leak was posted. Thats what I've been working on.
Link? Cause this is taking forever. It's a ruby script I'm using.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/0ncjzjnymzm/Moment 2.1 DD03 System Dump.zip
thanks. i attached the ruby scrips that convert the rfs to a mountable vfat image.
pretty fresh build from 04.03.2010
awesome... I just need the ramdisk from the leak to get this booting now.
Did u try using the ruby script to extract rootsfs.rfs? The init.rc might be in there. Unless there is a boot image floating around the web that we can extract and use.
Havent tried it yet

[MOD] JI6/JJ4/2.2/Froyo Mods - Lock Screen Mods, Battery Indicators (Update 11/06)

JI6 Mods
What are these?
Stock Lock
-Modifies your lock screen to re-enable the stock android lock screen.
-This INCLUDES the "disable menu button" fix (so you can't unlock with the menu button).
-This will REMOVE the current glass/puzzle lock screen, to restore glass, put your old android.policy.odex back!
Circle Battery Indicators
-This changes the battery indicator to a different theme.
-See Fightspit's thread for screenshots: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778
-Your background will default to the Cognition background since that's which APK I started from. (just change it)
Removed links since they've been down forever. I have no intention of continuing doing these mods for individual ROMs any longer. Way too many ROMs out there! If you want battery mods, the procedure is pretty simple. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778 for more info.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744373 you can get the Andoid keyboard here and push it using ADB or sideload it using Sideload Wonder Machine. I am using it and I prefer it to Samsung's crappy keyboard.

Excellent, thanks! The Samsung keyboard is terrible. Sorry for semi hijacking. I appreciate the answer though. Won't mention the keyboard again. Let's keep this on topic.
Awesome job bringing the stock lock screen. I am looking forward to installing it. I am installing Cog 2.2 now (as opposed to the straight 2.2 kernal)
Omg thank you. Awesome job (find) easy install through root explorer. Thank you was like the one thing I felt like I was missing. Now don't have to do a full corner to corner swype

Back on topic, I am not running Cog 2.2, just the Froyo 2.2 beta, rooted, sideloading enabled, etc. I am assuming this will work with my setup as well. I would love to try this out.
Thank you guys so much for the work you put into this stuff. Im on Cog 2.2 and used root explorer to copy and paste the file into system/framework and then rebooted and I have the stock lockscreen. Working perfectly

EDIT: id10terrordfw confirmed above. Should work fine!

cm7 settings menu

is there any zip out there that can throw this on any aosp rom? if not, would someone like to teach me how to do it?
There wouldn't be any way to do this. There has been some serious modification to the actual framework of Android to get CM Settings working. It isn't something you can just drop into a new ROM. That ROM has to be coded to support all the options in there, otherwise you will probably just end up with a bunch of force closes.

[Q] Fixing issues on a Rooted "Stock" KF

I am new to the Kindle Fire, and recently rooted with Kindle Fire utility without a hitch. Many thanks to all the Dev's that put that together, great work. I am not new to rooting and customizing ROMs on Droid phones, but new to the "tablet" world.
However, after doing some searching, I am unable to find information on some things.
1) Google Market. Its running fine, but there are a ton of apps missing from the market (ie Facebook). I have seen some threads on how to fix this if I am on CM7, but was wondering if its possible to do this on a "stock" rooted KF?
2) Blocking updates. Is there an easy way to "block" Amazon from being able to push updates to the device? I know this has caused issues like losing root, etc.
3) Freezing Apps. Are there any "standard" apps or processes that can be frozen/removed from the Stock ROM that aren't needed? I haven't been able to find a definitive "list".
Thanks again,
-Sf-

Hey there.
Let me see. You can use "Titanium backup" to freeze stupid things like maps. I dont have mine anymore so i cant populate a list for you atm. You can try to update the "Market" app to resolve issues with missing apps. My advice: use stock rom, root it. And use a launcher like launcher pro. Then use setcpu.
1 - try the modaco rom - it shows to the market as galaxy tab:

2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1451328

Editing the build.prop file should fix market visibility. I just purchased and rooted mine last night but i'm also having the same issue. Going to try out this after work. Should do the trick. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371021

Sounds good. I saw this post, but I haven't seen a build.prop for the stock rooted Kindle fire. If you get yours to work, please post it. Thanks!

I would like to stick with the stock rom, since hardware acceleration seems to be an issue with most of the custom roms. Do you know if Modaco supports hardware acceleration?
The only roms that have trouble with hardware acceleration are the ICS roms, all other roms have working HWA.
As far as I know the missing apps from the market can't be fixed if your on stock, even if you edit the build.prop, thats why I moved from stock to cm7.
I don't know if there is a way to completely block amazon updates, but I just froze silentupdate with titanium backup when I was stock and I never got the notification to move from 6.2.1 to 6.2.2.
The only app I know of that can freeze apps is titanium backup pro in the market, and there is no list of apps that can be removed/frozen on the stock rom, just use common sense when removing/freezing the apps, don't delete an app if you don't know exactly what it is or delete the kindle launcher, and then wonder why your homescreen is gone, and make sure to backup any apps you mess with.

modaco is a optimized 6.2.2 stock rom - you can update with it and loose nothing cause it don't format any partitions - read the op of modaco for more information ...

Thanks I will take a look at that. Thanks for the advice.
Looks like MoDaCo for the Kindle Fire was the way to go. My market is working great now, system is very fast, really impressed overall. Still retains the "stock" feel with a few tweak. Now I have to figure out if it doesn't get updates from Amazon.
look at my first post - the link in point 2
allthrough i think in modaco the file is allready removed it's better to check twice
There is a system app called OTA Silent Update and you can just delete it and your all good.

[Q] [REQ] Smart Dialer mod

Is there a way we can get smart dialing on this phone? i know theres tons of apps out there but i like the stock look and feel of the vanilla android dialer. any help would be greatly appreciated:laugh::good::cyclops:

hopefully someone answers our prayers lol
Same!
When y'all are asking for a "[MOD]", does that mean you're looking for something you can flash with a recovery mod?
If yes, I know CyanogenMod adds this feature to the stock dialer. However, I don't know if that's something you can just extract the phone .apk and upload. However, if you're able to flash would you consider flashing a new ROM anyway? Most nightlies of the big roms (CM10.1, AOKP) are usually really stable on Nexus devices because they have all of the proper drivers & source for everything. Nightlies aren't as stable on other phones because they're missing device-specific drivers and such.
If no, then nevermind. I don't know of an option to add this ability to the stock dialer. Sorry.
exDialer
Been using this since I got the phone. Skinable, no ads, and quick
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer&hl=en
A couple of the custom ROMs have this feature (Paranoid Android being one of them). You can either flash one of the ROMs that include it, or try to extract the dialer apk from it and try installing it.
I would prefer a new modded apk over a new rom. Anyone have the apk from cm10?
