TF300T is slower than the nexus 7 - Transformer TF300T General

hi guys i am want to buy a tablet for gaming and I was seeing some videos on youtube and i saw that the tf300t quadrant score is a 1000 less than the nexus 7!!!! why? they have the same cpu and gpu!!!!! I think?

The transformer line of tablets have problems with slow I/O speeds. If you install a custom ROM however, the I/O speeds do get better as well as overall performance

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Thanks
Thanks for the help!!!! and i will not forget those words
If someone wants put something go head that will help me a lot!!!!!!! (sorry for my english)

Nexus 7 runs on 1.5Ghz while TF300 runs on 1.3Ghz
Actually have two benchmarks
Nexus 7 has a custom rom, tf300 is stock without root and so on (see attachment)
though for some reason tf300 has better score in database i/o than nexus 7

Thanks but you are wrong
Thanks but the nexus 7 and tf300t have the same clock speeds, 1.2 with the four cores and 1.3 with a single core.
But thanks anyway

Yeah I looked at the nexus and it was at 1,3ghz - thought it might be because it's another ROM but then I looked it up and found out, that it is normally at 1,3ghz
My mistake
So now I ran a benchmark with the nexus 7 again and it tunrs out, that database i/o is much better than on tf300. Though now with 1,3ghz it's 12651 points

Thanks for the scores
thanks for the scores and i am glad to help too

Although I don't think Benchmark say smth about performance I can say I got 15'600 on Baked ROM (with CPU OC to 1.5 Ghz and default GPU OC of 520 mhz) - so if you decide to get a TF300, you just have to know that a custom ROM is a must have in everybody's opinion that has ever flashed one

OK.... Here ya go. This is my TF300T. So much for a slow tablet. LOL!!
EDIT: FYI, this is running CleanROM.

Yeah but that is overclocked to 1.8GHz! I value the battery life very much on a tablet and that kind of overclock is going to have quite an impact.

Lol, having my dock comes in very handy. The added battery life is a plus. I don't run at 1.8 all the time because it's not needed. I usually keep it at either 1.5 or 1.6. That's more than enough to do what I need to do. I've got benchmark scores in the 16000s running at 1.6. Battery life at that speed isn't bad at all.

I was using one of the 700 kernels in dbdags kernels installer. The kernels for the 700 that clock up to 1.8 will give you those good scores.
Also, I don't run my tablet at 1.8 all the time. Usually just for testing. I normally run at 1.5 or 1.6 because it's all I need. The tablet performs great even at the lower speeds with absolutely no lag whatsoever. CleanROM is just an all around great ROM.

120% performance increase with Linaro toolchain

I heard the Linaro changes are being pushed, I checked and it looks like it may take a little more time.
basically the Linaro builds use a toolchain that give android builds up to a 30%* performance increase
If any devs want to take a look at it, It's in gerrit (I think this is it)

If this is real, I have a feeling it doesn't respond to benchmarks. As most know, benchmarks are not real world tests.
e.g. deleting an OpenGLes lib to make benchmarks show a different score.

You have to compare it to a GNEX, not using Nexus S. GNEX has to push more pixels and so on to the 4.65" 720p screen comparing to Nexus S with 4.0" display. I believe that would put a strain on the CPU?
I have question. In which part of an android will this be implemented? The rom or the kernel?

Good question. We've already seen that there's no significant benefit from linaro 'optimized' kernel builds. Should be interesting.
....memoirs of a flash addict.
CM9 nightly implemented some Linaro code in the build you can see in change log I did 2 quadrant scores at 1.4ghz & got total score of 1800 I then flashed the Anidroid hardened kernel b.13 which was build using linaro tool chain & got a score of 2500 phone did seem a little quicker but nothing crazy

Benchmarks after Jelly Bean

Ran RL Benchmark and Androbench - Is it just me or do these numbers not make a lot of sense? They seem downright horrific or am I misinterpreting?
It would seem that there is virtually no significant improvement in performance with Jellybean as far as I can see. At least on these tests.
For Reference and pre-jellybean comparsion consult this article from Android Police:

Edit: Getting same basic results the second time.
Wait a minute - something's fishy here - your results don't look the same as mine - mine say "This Device" but yours says "Your Device" - so if you are legitimately running the same test and version, why is your result chart phrased differently? In fact, the entire diagram is different, color code, bar width, everything. In fact, my results actually say RL Benchmark in the upper right - yours doesn't.
Pretty lame if intentional

why the low score !!!
I don't know why everyone is obsessed with benchmark results, benchmarks offer very rough results for the estimated performance of your device. If you run any benchmark twice in a row, under the same conditions, it would give 2 completely varrying results, which clearly shows that results are very unreliable and doesn't necessarily mirror to real world performance.
My old Motorola atrix 4g which is a dual core tegra 2 android device overclocked to 1.4GHz used to score an average of 6000 on quadrant, which is pretty much around what most people get on our quad core Notes, but if you compare both phones in terms of real world performance its not even a competition, the note 2 feels 3 generations ahead.

With the trinity kernel you can over clock up to 1.7, also there's a faux kernel that you can go up to 1.7 but its useless anyway, your tablet won't perform better because you over clock it.

I guess you just really want to kill the tablet, huh? Even if it could clock that high without permanently damaging the silicon, you'd be looking at it being extremely unstable.

Better in performance of course. Over clocking the tablet can deplete it's life span. Battery life will take a huge hit too.

For me overclocking is totally useless. You won´t recognise a difference between no oc and oc... only in benchmarks, but your battery is draining faster and it´s getting hot

overclocking to higher frequencies will make the battery drain faster and it will get it hot but I only overclocked 300 MHz to reach 1.6 ghz and it's perfect ,it operates normally and it never got hot . I also changed the GPU frequency to 533 by trickster mod .

There's a principle called the law of diminishing returns and it applies perfectly to this situation. The reason that kernel devs don't include higher frequency steps is that there is no real benefit. At higher frequencies, you introduce lag, random reboots, boot loops and general instability. Performance and frequency are not a linear corollary. Additionally, you exponentially shorten the life of the hardware by clocking too high. 1.6 is safe for most, 1.7 for some, and 1.8 for very few.

A bit over 7000 Quadrant score on 4.2.2 here too, OC to 1.6 and still able to UV about 100 across the board and no different in stability, maybe i'm lucky one who got variant 3 of Tegra 3 here.
What I got from OC my device? It's run much more smother than when i'm at 1.3 like in facebook app for example at 1.3 I'm not able to scroll through feed really smooth but at 1.6 it's really smooth.
Concern about negative hit to battery life? I'm notice a little hit here as i'm get about 7 hours screen-time at 1.3 and about 6.5 hours at 1.6 and to me that acceptable, maybe due to UV that make it not much different.
Heat? A little lower if not the same temperature as when it's running at 1.3 again due to under voltage I think.
But however this is just my personal experience.

If you can build from source, just add in the frequencies to the tegra3_dvfs.c and other related files. But due to several obvious reasons mentioned already in this thread, I would never do that ever.

Hi have tested kernel and works great! I get an extra 1.5k total of 44.5k, normally around 43k give or take this is not version 5. Please stick around we need some great devs!!
Is that kernel going to need an unlocked bootloader?
Can fastboot boot recovery images but I've but tried a kernel yet.
Tempted to start working on some kernels for this device, will see how my time pans out with new job

Nope, i flashed cwm via flashify, then rebooted into cwm and flashed the kernel.
EDIT: AnTuTu v5 56953 Points now, a little higher.
