Now having this-should I and/or do I just sign in to Google account that I use for my Gnex (and have the Asus just run my apps via my original account) OR sign in all together with a new account and pick and choose apps for my Asus beast? I know a lot of apps are updated now for tabs (even though) we have them on our phone too.

Why shouldn't you sign in with your google account which you're using on other devices?
You don't necessarily have to restore all apps but your calendar, contacts etc pp will be synchronized.
I'm using the same google account for tablet and for smartphone but have totally different apps on it
Wouldn't make much sense to set up a new google account just for the tablet
While we're at it. If you want to unlock your device and so on and yours came with JellyBean, you will probably want to sign the petition in my signature (oh god, sounds like I'm trying to sell something )

I am giving Kindle Fires to family members (children).
Is it possible to set up "sub-accounts" under my Amazon and Android Market accounts, so that those sub-accounts cannot buy any additional apps or content but so that I can push my purchases to these accounts/devices?
Admittedly, I am also asking because it would be nice to not have to re-purchase some apps, which work perfectly on my Kindle Fire and my phone (but I would need to set up the other Kindle Fires with my amazon and gmail accounts to achieve the same for the kids).

I have never heard of anything like this being possible.
I think something like this would be a good idea. However, I am sure Amazon and Google don't want to make it easier for people to "share" and not re-purchase stuff. I do think it would make a lot of sense for Amazon to have a limited "kids account" under a parents account so that parents could buy a Kindle for their kids without said kids having the ability to make purchases.
Maybe you should contact Amazon and Google and make this suggestion!

so i ordered my nexus 7 on friday and have been anticipating having it in my hands ever since! any suggestions on what I should put on it, how to use it? or themes? lemme know what is up people! i dont want to waste time tinkering with this, I want to have it optimized after a few hours... obviously I am going to root it!!! im so stoaked!
It's hard to say. optimized for what exactly? Out of the box the device comes with enough built in apps to enjoy most common/basic tablet use
- gmail, web browsing, ebook, map, calendar, address book, music players, etc
- then next common things are games
- news and entertainment..
most people instal social networking apps for twitter, facebook, G+, web site readers. what not... without knowing what you want to do with your tablet, best people can suggest is bunch of popular/best of apps that you may or may not find useful. so... it all depends what you find interesting. it's a general purpose computer...

I would look at Beautiful Widgets, and check out background wallpapers. Also check out the thread for "how would you spend your $25 play store credit", to get ideas on which $$$ apps are good to buy. I think Plex was the first app I ever purchased, and tapatalk was the second. (This was a few months ago, before Nexus 7).

While I have been initially impressed with the hardware, having most of my apps appear as just larger phone apps is annoying. My original reaction to this was "it will get better", right? Now I am not so sure. Did Google screw the pooch on this one?
Case in point: Grocery IQ, an often used app has been recently updated to a tablet version "yay!". But initially this update broke both the phone and tablet version on Nexus 7. I contacted the developer and was told they were aware of the issue and a fix would be released soon.
Got that new release this morning, the phone version, not the tablet version. Tablet version is incompatible with the Nexus 7. So... yet another app that has a tablet version, but not on the Nexus 7.
So is the iPad Mini the only 7-8 inch tablet available or do the Samsung 7 inchers behave like a tablet too? And what has Google left out of the dev environment that has developers of apps like Grocery IQ and Trip Advisor issuing their phone apps to the Nexus 7 and not their tablet counterparts?
It does get rather annoying just having a "big" phone, I'd love to see some tablet apps appearing PROPERLY on the Nexus 7.
But thats Android in general at the moment, everything is scaled and all look the same!
And don't forget the lazy companies, that, instead of releasing just the phone app, or tablet app, just block and ban an app for the nexus 7.
ChatOn for example -.- finally got my guys to use it, and now I have to search for a new chat app -.- and the support just says "thx for your mail" blah blah.... But we'll see what the future brings...

Some tablet apps work, like news 360 and that is brillaint and the Times app worked as tablet. Only thing what annoys me is Chrome always requests mobile sites.
It's the fault of lazy or incompetent developers.
It really takes no magic to check for tvdpi (IIRC) and then load the tablet layout XML - but they just fail to do it.
But they'll get what they deserve. Their apps will get lesser downloads over time and people will move to the apps doing it right.
And it's also not hard to just release the app until they fixed it.. Why banning... I don't get it..

Blaming the app developers is not really the smart route. Google has had plenty of time to make the n7 a tablet ui. We are on the fourth revision (4.1, 4.1.1, 4.2, 4.2.1) and google has actually moved further away form tablet ui by removing all remaining framework for it in 4.2. In this instance, looking any further than google when assigning blame would be silly. But, those kinds of things make you appreciate our xda devs just that much more when they release fixes for us all.

Wrong.
Don't confuse the complete "tablet UI" with the launcher and notification area.
The notification area is actually THE ONYL thing they changed.
The UI still uses fragments when in "tablet (UI) mode" - just compare the settings app with the default DPI and then edit it to 160, big difference there.
Im getting the nexus 10 for Christmas and at my high school we can use computers,tablets etc. But are there any good office apps like word or one note type things. Or is there any news of Microsoft apps. Thank you and i pray the light-bleed inst that bad. And is there any news of good keyboard docks?
First, stop listening to people *****ing about light bleed, it's not that big of an issue in the grand scheme of things.
As for office programs, there are half a dozen half decent ones you can buy, one of the guys in the XOOM forum did a pretty in depth review of most of them (I believe it was funnycreature) do a search and have a read of that, then make your choice.
From my experience, you might need to buy more than one to get everything done, this of course can get a little costly with the suits costing £10 or so each.

Light bleed is a non-issue for me....
I don't think that there will be a keyboard dock like you know it from the Asus transformer line. You'll have to use a Bluetooth keyboard. Go to the accessories section. There are some threads about cases. There are also some cases with integrated Bluetooth keyboards.

I've been on this forum allot lately because i want this tablet to be the best experience it can possibly be on the school side, media consumption and just regular gaming + internet use. BUT I've been hearing many complain about having to reboot and many other issues. Will this tablet be a good choice overall or should i just get a ipad due to the best app store ever.
If i do proceed in getting this tablet what should i do first? And should i update to the new os or keep the stock rom? Will cynogen mod be the best bet even though many are having difficulties. I would love to hear everyone's:confused feedback.

QO does not have a trial version anymore - we discontinued it at version 4.1. Our viewer will be preloaded on the stock 4.2 Android OS, so you'll be able to see it in action a little.
If you have specific file types that you need tested, go to help.quickoffice.com, and send us an example file or two and we'll test it and list any issues we come across before you choose to purchase.

I'm using CM 10 on the HTC One S and Samsung Galaxy 3 and stock Android on the Nexus 7 & 4. I don't really see a huge difference except for the fact that CM10 has a lot more customization.
If it boiled down to choosing one for a Nexus device, I'd choose stock Android because I dont use most of the customization (unless it's UI stuff, which I can use a launcher for) and I'm not allowed to access my corporate account from the CM 10 device. If I wasn't using a Nexus device, I'd stick with CM 10 to get rid of bloatware.
I'm not sure if that really helps all that much, but that's where things stand for me.
I was an ambitious rooter that thought that rooting was the only way to go, regardless of device. I had a change of heart and decided NOT to root my HDX. Obviously this presents many challenges, the lack of google's presence amoung the top. So my story is how I managed to install almost everything (except play store) and how now I can do just about everything I wanted without rooting.
The trick was to find apps that simulate or sync within the web and they trick the HDX into thinking it has a google account installed. This has allowed me to access gmail, google calendar, search, tasks and more. I even got wifi text messaging working, which is a big deal for me.
Finally, I found the perfect launcher that replaces the tedious Amazon interface. I'm not kidding. You wouldn't tell the difference between a rooted HDX and mine.

Yup - I ran native (unrooted) Fire OS 3.2.6 for nearly a year before moving to a different rom. It's quite possible (and often rather easy) to either sideload play store apps or find high quality equivalents that duplicate the best from google. Some I still use today even though I have full access to the play store. Toss in a few Xposed modules and life is pretty sweet. That said, there was always the challenge of dealing with new versions or accommodating the various limitations inherent with Fire OS. I think the story here is an unrooted HDX can be still be a useful/productive tool but the work effort definitely goes up once you step outside the Amazon ecosystem.
