persano,
We do this all the time for our customers. If they told you - "we have to send this to our Kindle Device Replacement Team...", this translates to: "We have not made a final decision, your replacement is under review. After we make a decision, we will send you an email.."
If you received a Return Label via email or chat to send back your Kindle AND gave them a credit card number, you will see a new device in 7 days. If you did not receive a return label, your return is still under review and pending.
Have you received a return label yet?

they said, we are processing it, because you live in another contry, this will take 2-3 days, i made this yesterday so i have to wait
but he said to me that yes, but because i m in argentina they will see the best form to make this. he said he is going to remplace it because my problem is a "factory one"
Thank you for inquiring about the status of your Kindle replacement. We are working on your request and should be completed shortly. It typically takes 2-3 business days from the date of the request to complete the process. We appreciate your patience.

is amazon changing my broken tablet bought from ebay?
All I can say is that they have a pretty good rep for taking care of their Kindle customers.
Amazon's warranty policy is similar to apple's, its based on serial#, not the original invoice/owner.
You can check with amazon csr to get the warranty expiration date, and no need to say where u get it unless there is a problem with kindle itself(bought with stolen CC/gift card etc..),

I've brick several kindle fires in the past and have never had a problem getting them replaced. They will send you a brand new one and email you a shipping label. When you receive the new one all you have to do is take the new one out of the box and put the old one back in. I would switch out your charging cable as well just to have a new one. Then tape the box shut print out your label and tape it to the box and drop it off at what ever shipping service they use (in my case UPS). They have an excellent return policy. Also your warranty starts over as well as your free month of Amazon Prime and Kindle Free Time.

I was just looking at the other response and realized, Amazon never disabled the Amazon Prime service on our Kindle's we still get free movies. Maybe it is due to us owning 40 plus Kindles, I really do not know why, just noticed it.

Do you have a prime account on one of them? Because you only need one prime account as long as you have all kindles under the same amazon account. All of them can use it.

I don't know if its a glitch or what but ill take advantage of this. This also applies to lock screen ads. Before i knew better and paid the 15 dollars to remove them. When i bought my sons his didn't have the ads straight out of the box once registered to my account. Kindle free time is the same way you can use one kids profile on all the devices linked to that account.

Hinzman420,
We are in the middle of reading the Amazon Prime 'fine print', we will post there official response once we are able to clarify this information. After we read the fine print, we are going to open a Chat with Amazon Customer Service and ask the service agent the same question: If I buy one Prime do we get all the Kindles on Prime?
So Kindle Free time is the same? Then this must be Amazon official stance: If you buy one product for the Kindle, you have it for the entire family. This makes sense, we just do not like surprises, this is why we are asking the question.

Please post your findings I'm interested to find out why this happens. The only thing with kindle free time is you can only have one active profile at a time but it can be used on multiple devices. I have 2 profiles one for my son and for my daughter. But only pay for a single user. But you can switch which profile is active at any time.

I haven't return anything big item (like the xoom) before, and I was just wondering if there's any instances that they refused to take a return for any reason or another?
Do they check/test/etc. the device before giving you a full refund?
While I'm pretty happy with the device, the screen always bothers me. I'm thinking if the Asus transfomer can match the built quality of the xoom, then I'm returning mine to get it. This is if my assumption is correct that the IPS screen on the transformer will be better than the xoom.
Thanks.
costco is that smart or resourceful to test the devices before accepting returns. Sounds like they just want to be tools.

Costco has a full unlimited return policy for any reason. They have a 90 day unlimited return policy for all electrics. It doesn't mater your reason. I have heard people say "well you have a newer model".

While it's certainly possible to abuse Costco's generous return policy, I'll answer the original question: they're great about it. Of course, they expect all shipped items and such to be returned, but they won't question the reasons nor deny a return. It's one of the reason why I buy all of my electronics from them.
Thanks everyone for the replies.

Quite honestly your uncle sounds like someone that will eventually ruin return policies like this for us all.
Regardless, to stay on topic, I second everyone else with the fact that they really will take items back for any reason. I believe they used to have a "return at any time for a full refund" policy (except PCs, which were 180 days), but they had to change it back around 2007 or so. The current policy is still fantastic.

True but he could return the Xoom to get the Asus Transformer, then return the Transformer to get the SGT 10.1 down the road. Of course, this is based on if Costco carries the Transformer & SGT 10.1.
That is my plan. I'll find out if the Android Tablet gods love me or not.

Seriously, the computer system they use is from 1983. I don't think Costco can track anything but dollar amounts.
I once had to get a refund on a cart worth of items because I used the wrong card (or so I thought, the receipt only shows the last few numbers of the card, and every Amex ends in the same numbers...). I waited for 30 minutes as a lady keyed in every item by hand.

Contrary to what some are suggesting, Costco DOES keep track of items. In the past my father purchased a VCR, but we ended up returning it because it ate tapes virtually from the start.
Our problem was that we couldn't find the receipt. They were able to look up the purchase using the Costco card number, and printed off a new receipt to include with their paperwork.

No it should be free for those who went to I/O. The emails has not been sent out yet. (at least not for me.)
I did however get an email to buy one earlier today since I was a part of the pilot program.

If you need to update your address you may do so by using the “Access My Registration” link that can be found in both your confirmation and bar code emails. From there you can log into your registration record and make any necessary edits.
It looks like lots of people have received their emails and ordered already, but Amazon shows 4-6 weeks delivery.
I still haven't gotten my email, and I've checked the registration site with no obvious way to order. I'm hoping they're just delaying some of the emails until Amazon / Samsung can catch up.
I placed my order last friday and amazon confirmed that my stimate shipping date is 8/3 -8/10. I even asked the IO whether we could exchange the vouchers from amazon to bestbuy. Unfortuately, the answer is no. I guess that we just need to wait a bit... Cannot complain much for freebie...

Thanks for the suggestion. After quite a few emails, I think it's cleared up. They had problems with the barcode reader when it registered at IO, and had to manually print my badge. I got the tablet and hotspot at the show with no issues, but their records showed that I was not eligible for the chromebook because I didn't show up.

Wow, I'm surprised Amazon is not keeping this exclusively to their site, but I suppose more vendors means more sales for them.
This changes everything. I happen to have a one hundred dollar Best Buy gift card. I am awfully tempted now...
Office Depot had signs up today, but I didn't see if they were taking pre-orders.
I highly doubt this, by the way, it's still not clear whether wifi in other countries will work for Kindle Fire, since those large treasures on Amazon is one big reason for me buying a KF
Just cancelled my Amazon preorder since they just announced that it will be available day one at retail. No need to wait 2 days for mine to ship when I can just walk in to a Best Buy on Tues at 9am and pick one up.
Know this is an old thread, but I'm looking to get one for Christmas and noticed they had them at my local Walmart. I want to play with one first. And the nook tablet too. Walmart had a nook display unit but all you can do is turn it on and see the "you must sign in and be connected to the internet to continue" screen, not a good demo.
My big dilemma is can a 7" screen replace my netbook?
I'm also thinking the slightly bigger and older Vizio tablet. Having a universal remote in the tablet is actually something I think I would use a lot.

One of the supervisors at my store (I work at Walmart) got the Vizio tablet when we had it on sale for 198 dollars and got the 10% discount on that. She says it's good for certain things, but the remote control thing is wonky.
Also, the Fire isn't designed to be a replacement for a netbook. My netbook is used for long-term keyboard use things -- IRC, writing, etc. The Fire is more for games and stuff. Although, the SwiftKey X hack makes it better...
I bought mine at Target yesterday.
I got mine at target.
Anyway It could possibly replace a notebook if they ever make a keyboard for it. If they did I would get it so fast cause then I could stop logging my 2004 laptop to school

I was meaning 7" vs 10" size difference more than functionality. I have a netbook to have a compact web browsing device, with good battery life. But my netbook's battery is broken, and charge port is wonky, so it won't always charge, and when it does it only lasts like 30 minutes. But, its out of warranty, so I am looking to replace with KF instead of fixing it. I have other computers laptop for full computing needs.
I played with a Nook Tablet, the screen wasn't as small as I thought it would be, seems well sized.
Those that got their KF at target or best buy did they have displays to use? I think I am leaning towards the KF to save the $50 over the Nook Tablet, but still want to use it before buying.
Then I saw the best buy black Friday ad ... 10" honeycomb Asus transformer tablet for $250. But I hate fighting black Friday crowds, especially best buy. I've sworn three times to never do best buy on black Friday ever again, but they keep luring me in.

Our Walmart doesn't carry it.
Visited Amazon.com today and was presented with an offer to pay 25% down on any HDX tablet with 3 additional payments occoring evey 90 days. No credit check, no interest.
Been on the edge of ordering the 8.9 HDX for awhile and this pushed me over the edge. Should arrive tomorrow.
Apparently this offer isn't available to anyone, as some have mentioned that going to this link gives an error page rather than the offer page. Figured it was worth posting it in case anyone wanted to take advantage of it.
Amazon Payment Deal
If the link doesn't work for some reason, try just visiting the main homepage of Amazon.com
Thank you for this!!! This helped my decision as well.
Funny, I can't help but wonder if I'm partly responsible for this new promo. I doubt it, but I just had it out with Amazon over offering their try before you buy the new kindles to random customers that have absolutely no interest in buying the tablet, as opposed to previous Kindle owners that would clearly be interested. The long-winded email was delivered directly to their marketing department.
Unfortunately in my case, the fiasco with their customer service 4 times in a row was enough to return my 7" Hdx and cancel my prime. Mostly just me sticking to my principles at this point, but it's nice that they gave some people other options.
Edit: although, it's certainly much easier to believe, considering the activity around this forum, that they just haven't been selling very well

Thanks for the info.
But for my account, there is no 25% off, instead of 4x25% of full price payment, each delay for 90 days.
You agree to pay the full price of the qualifying Kindle Fire HDX device you selected in four equal quarterly payments. No interest or finance charges apply to this offer. Any interest, finance charges or fees assessed by the issuer of the payment method to which payments are charged may still apply. Any applicable tax and shipping charges will be assessed when you check out and will be due in full when you make your purchase. Your payment schedule is:
Payment Due Date
Initial Payment Purchase Date
First Payment 90 Days from the Purchase Date
Second Payment 180 Days from the Purchase Date

When I said "25% down", I meant a 25% downpayment, not a 25% off deal. Sorry if that was confusing.

As best I can tell, they seem to be selling pretty well, however most of the people who would normally be interested in rooting a 7" tablet likely have already gone to the Nexus 7 (which also seems to defeat the purpose of unlocking the bootloader in the first place seeing as they get updates before pretty much anyone else, but I digress...).
Bezos has said the intent was to sell the devices as close to cost as possible. Considering all of these occasional discounts and alternate payment arrangements, I wonder if they're seeing a reduction in their parts costs and are, instead of waiting to do a full-on price cut, instead doing these half-measures to coax out some additional sales for the holiday season and then just make them permanent later on.
I jumped on it to get the 8.9 HDX 64g with Verizon 4G.

Well, updates to Aosp also means updates to most roms eventually, which is also good stuff. I have an n4, and I'm always excited to see what the devs do with new android releases. Further polishing updates from Google, so I can understand the Nexus ecosystem.
I would be surprised to find they're selling enough to actually cut the price of the Hdx though. It's a very niche tablet, but then again Amazon has a lot of users. Really could've gotten a lot more sales if they allowed sideloading Google services though. But in the long term, it does lock more people into Amazon services, so we'll see how it plays out for them.

This deal works on the 4g models? I never tested it, but was considering it and then in the fine print it said wifi models only. Maybe I should have checked to see if the 4g models worked. Either way, I jumped on the 32gig 8.9" model. I've been pretty happy with my 7" HD and was wanting a slightly larger screen. Even with my Nexus 10, I find myself using my smaller tablet(s) more often. Maybe time to sell the Nexus 10 to cover this cost!

Seems to work with any HDX. Either the 7" or 8.9 in all of their various configurations.
As for how to get the deal, make sure you are logged into your Amazon account when you click the link in my original post. I have seen some situations where people are just being told they are not eligible, for whatever reasons.
Restrictions per Android central:
There are a few restrictions, though. Folks from Washington, DC or Florida need not apply, and you have to have been an Amazon customer for two years. In addition, you need to have a credit card on file that expires no earlier than March 2014*— no debit cards are accepted.

Yes, but It was the At&T not Verizon. Sorry.
I decided to give this a try as well. With Prime I will have it by Tuesday. I have held off on any of the Kindle devices, but after getting and being really happy with the Nook HD+ I figured for the initial $125 out of pocket the HDX 8.9 was worth checking out.
Well, I'm pulling the trigger as well thanks to this thread and deal.....thanks for sharing O/P!!!
I do have a question though, not that rooting won't be in my future with this device but I'm just curious if the Kindle 'market' is any better than the Nook Market or is everything a purchase in that one too?
Pushed me over the edge also... went for the 8.9 64Gb. They made it irresistible. Here's hoping I can put my existing apps on it!

Man I have my fingers and toes crossed for us
ENDING ON SATURDAY THE 13th--Available at BESTBUY AND AMAZON. I just picked one up. ggow is my favourite developer and this was too good to pass up. This makes 3 devices I own that've been freed from the Amazon ecosystem. I passed on this earlier on, but looking at the aosp rom got me excited!
F*CK!
Just bought two of them for $50 each!
:'(

I just said that I bought my Fire tablet 6 days ago and noticed that it was selling for $10 cheaper today. The Amazon CSR just verified the purchase date and immediately informed me that she would issue me the credit. It was a super quick process. If you bought your tablets over 7 days ago, then YMMV. However, if you bought them within the last week, then you won't have any issue getting the refund. FYI, they just give you credit on your Amazon account.

Torn between Amazon Fire tablet and Sero 8
Hi, I'm looking to buy a tablet for my grandmother and recently saw this deal for $40 dollars. Now I am torn. What is a better deal? The sero 8 for $60 quadcore A9 with Mali 400 and larger screen, or the $40 amazon fire tab with quadcore A7 and a mali 450? I can say that it is probably purely going to be used for browsing the web, videos, facebook, etc... Thanks.

This is something I should've asked before purchasing but I assumed all we needed was root for the custom recovery. Are new ones shipping with 5.1.1? If not is there any precautions that should be taken beforehand? What I mean is I don't want to screw up and have it auto update on me before I get to unlock it.
Got absolutely NO interest in a fire tablet with OS 5.
Updated OK. I'm gathering info but still confused. Root junky says you can install resurrection rom on 5.1.1 with flashcard so... what's the deal with this? Seems the process might be easier on earlier firmware but if you have root access and a custom rom whatsthe problem with 5.1.1?
You should have 5.0.1 in that one

I order 2 last night and both have 5.0.1. I think 5.1.1 is after we OTA upgrade, the difference is after upgrade bootloader is locked and no way to unlock yet and I can not install recovery or at least not work, i can not boot intro recovery, something really important, main thing to install rom or make any changes (*way really SAFE*) but anyway luckily for us out there is FLASH FIRE apk to flash without reboot to recovery lol and SUPERTOOL for fire 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 root, block OTA upgrade and much more good :good:
*yes 5.0.1 recovery working fine, fine i install CM12 and gapps really fast and easy.
