Can't differentiate any changes!! - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

I've recently made a partition of my sd card using clockworkmod and made my apps linked using link2sd apps! But what is the actual benefit? The whole system and performance seems to be the same!!
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium

U wont experiance anything..
It only creates a link of ur apps in phone nd shifts data to sd card..
Thus .apps take less memory in phone..
** rooting is new for me,
nd i am a noob to root....**

Thanks for the response. But I just wanna say n that's why I uploaded the screen shot that the phone memory seems to be same as before!! Shouldn't it take less memory?

You must move apps to SD card by link2sd

I've moved all the installed apps into sd card! But It could be done by Droidsail apps2sd easily! Then why this partioning and why link2sd? Can it move sym apps? :I'm sorry, I'm trying to learn! Can anybody teach me without tution fee?

OK this is wat it does I will tell in a simple way
When u have apps on ur SD card they are usually slower cause all their resources data cash etc ate on SD card and it takes longer to draw each one when needed
But if u move these apps to internal memory u will observe they they run faster as there is easier access to their resources (ie phone will not have to write to internal memory when a resource is needed it can simply draw from there...
But obviously u cannot convert all apps into internal memory
So u are suggested to create a partition and link apps
As name suggests link2sd creates a link to SD card ext so that apps linked to that extension can draw their resources faster with minimal time lapse thus increasing performance of these apps ...
U will not be able to see it in ram consumed or anything like that but there is a tremendous amount of reduce of lag and increase in performance
Hit thanks ... I need it lol

How many thanks do you need dear? I've created a link2heart for you!
One more thing, should I use swap??

I read about apps2sd and heard it might not work well with micro sd cards class 4 and below. The one that comes with the Epic is class 2, so let me know how well it works.

froyo is the android version while desire build is a build. data.img is basically the same because these builds are froyo.
besides, this is not the request/question section. better do it in Q and A or general.

You're basically asking for a bigger hard drive. That doesn't add RAM or processing speed, just more GBz for appz.

4GB data.img
not sure it will work or not since I took it from older post
and I assumed every build will have different data.img give it a shot, and tell me if it work, it might take time to boot it.
Goto Atoore's Jdmode thread. There he has 2,3,4gb data.img's

It's quite common for an iPhone user keeps 300+ apps in their phone. I'm using tytung Nexus build with 2GB data.img, with 400+ apps inside, 60% of the data.img already. Maybe WinMo users do not get used with thay many apps anyway....

Just to say, I hope all of you know that this will make your phone slower? Because it's so big booting will take longer. Also the write and read process will be a little slower I think. But if you're already have +300 apps on your phone I think it wont hurt

Hungry for knowledge

I would like to know if there any guru's out there who have time to mentor someone wants to learn more about rom's builds, apps and any other info you would like to share.

There are several "how to" do ...in the dev section. I would first recommend reading enough to be comfortable with both the terms and the technology. Then take a rom, theme or kernel and take it apart. piece by piece, then start trying to put it back together and see if you can. This is how I learn tech, and I think most start there. You will need some Linux understanding and or some computer language experience.
Play around for a month and after doing this every day for a month, then you will be able to ask some of the devs to help you, and they will because you will have some skills to work with........
buy android book AMAZON.COM or whacha prefer to shope at

I'm not sure if you are trying to say something, and don't know how... if you are just emphasizing your point, or if you are bumping your thread... but it makes me doubt you have the ability to heavily mod code.
Can you just ask what you want to know?
This is what I was talking about,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667298
Follow this advice, Cyanogen is one of the best, I would listen to his recommendations.
to use an analogy You can't write words without knowing the alphabet, and you can't compose cogent thoughts without knowing the language. You need both skills.
Learning how to write code is the same thing. You have to start with the basics and go from there......
LikeS15274N said, if you have a specific question please state it otherwise, Get on with the Reading.............
Hey thanks alot for responding. Great analogy, I would like to know if you could help me better understand how to use odin. I can flash back to stock and have done so about 50 or 60 times trying to install custom ROMs. Everytime I try to flash bionix or voodoo the phone gets stuck in reboot loop. So if you could assist with helping me understand this process that would be great. Please keep in mind I will come back for more info as I progress. Please understand my only purpose here is to LEARN. Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
First things first then, you do realize that you do not use ODIN to flash Bionix, or any custom ROM correct?
In the first reply, I suggested you read the guides in my signature.. have you done this?
I am reading right now. This is alot of good info. So where and how do I identify the sd to place the zip file once its downloaded.

when you mount it to your computer you will get two SD cards. one will be your internal sd (the correct one) and the other will be your external sd card.
you can easily identify them by the size difference. I believe the internal is usually somewhere around 12 gigs. I have also renamed mine (via My Computer) to INTERNAL_SD so it actually pops up like that when I mount it.
Okay, I keep getting an error cant find sd. Now what??

Just use swap partition.. It creates a virtual ram that somewhat increases your ram... and you need a kernel that has swap support.
Which kernal has swap support?

Swap is useful...
Bt it has its advantages like it reduces life of your sdcard and read write speed also...as it continously read and write data on sd...

Is this making the external SD act as an Internal SD? If so this is exactly what I came here looking for. I read in a Sprint forum that there was a root way to be able to install apps that would normally only install to the internal SD, to the external SD. This would obviously be great considering we only have 9gb of usable storage with no move to External option.
yeah thats why im trying to find out if the developer for the mod will support the GS4 too

Im working with the Dev of the app FolderMount to try to figure out how to get this to work with the S4. It does basically the same thing, but instead of only moving the data it creates a link between the internal and external sd so the data can be moved to the external and still work. Heres the thread here.
I'm definitely interested in this. Does anyone know the reason why Samsung mounts the extra storage as an SD card and then limit us by not allowing us to move apps? So far this is the biggest disappoint for me with this phone.
