[ROM] [4.2] CarbonROM Alpha [7-6-13] - TouchPad Development

Hey guys! I am now developing for Carbon, and I'm working hard on 4.3! In the mean time, please take a look here for a 4.2 build. Whats not working:
Bluetooth (I know it was fixed, I don't have my carbon source any more, so I can't fix it)
There is a intermittent screen issue where it becomes uber sensitive for some reason, no idea why..
And of course, camera..
But, anyway.. Go download here! http://downloads.codefi.re/patrickc...ON-JB-UNOFFICIAL-20130703-2049-tenderloin.zip and make sure to grab the 4.2 GAPPS!
I am actively working on 4.3 and hope to have nightlies soon.

Reseved for future use.

Thank you! 4.2 you say? My my , someone will be getting a nice donation if I see 4.2 on my TP. Keep up the good work.
Till then, I already know this will be my new DD

Guys,
I am working on camera now. If all goes as planned, I should have a new release with camera up within a few hours!
And yes, 4.2 There is already a port that was started, but there are a LOT of things not working... So I, along with my team, will be contributing to that project and help to get a few things working!

Re: [ROM][Android 4.1][WORKING SOUND]SickleROM Alpha 1[1-29-2012]
Thanks for the new ROM! Will flash and report any issues and usage observations.

Quick update on camera, run into a few snags. Won't be able to post tonight. I'll have to talk with the rest of my team tomorrow on the camera issues we're running into as they're over my head (at least they are at 2AM lol) Will report back as soon as I can on camera.

I don't get it, whats new/better compared to the cm10 builds from jcsullis?

Re: [ROM][Android 4.1][WORKING SOUND]SickleROM Alpha 1[1-29-2012]
does this rom fix the problems on the jcscullins rom with the videos on the web browser, in which you to zoom in to watch the video properly?

In Mt experiences, we have better battery life over jcsullins' build. There aren't too many more changes, yet, other then that. This is alpha 1,so it is still fairly similar to CM10

Haven't had time to check the battery life but it does not reconnect to WiFi when changing location which I think was an early problem with jcsullins ,also one of my apps" Ttorrent won't install/ run due toa supposed lack of space but I was easily able to install 3 other apps without a problem so I can't figure that one.
I hope this info helps.

Did you upgrade from CM7/CM9 and use the ACMEInstaller3? That is a requirement. Without that your device will report that it has run out of space when you know it hasn't
If you did use ACMEInstaller 3, then I would like to go over things with you and try to fix the problem...

Yes I installed acmeInstaller 3 some time ago along with moboot 0.38 and the latest CMW and then TWRP. I was running oats and just wiped cache and davlik before flashing this rom .
Are you able to install Ttorrent ? If so I will play around a bit .

It seems to install perfectly fine. I would try a user data wipe and then try again, that might be the issue.

Wow this is great. Thanks!
Nice build koush!

Whats the problem with the camcorder?
Which kernel is used?
I'll be happy if you got some further info for us.

New CM9 Nightly Builds for TF101

Hello people,
I was looking through the nightly builds on download.cyanogenmod.com
I saw a fresh build for TF101 dated for 2/27.
Check it out. I will flash it and see how it is.
Someone also needs to create an Official CM9 Nightly page in Dev section.
So who wants to be the Guinea pig? I'm already running that KANG that was posted up earlier this weekend. I may try it after I charge up.
yea...guinea pig here....goes through boot animation and then system ui and trebuchet (the launcher) fc...i would say stay away until some official announcement is made
Yeah. It doesn't even boot up probably. :-(... going back to stock

I'm surprised that this news seems to be not generating much buzz here. Not knocking any of the other devs, because most of them do amazing work, but CM is the bee's knees. When those nightlies get semi-mature, I'll be running them and never look back. They've never done me wrong before. Any device I've ever had that was supported, was the best ROM available for my needs. YMMV, of course.
I think when its own thread is created youll see the buzz, cm rocks lol

Alas, I ran across this on get.cm also. Got excited and then had the FC issues like everyone else. At least it is a step in the right direction.

Not sure if it's related or not but my wifi on a Kanged version of CM9 is acting weird, disconnecting and saying out of range.
I tried this one first but it could just be the ROM I'm on.

New official CM9 nightly on get.cm. It boots!!! Gonna test it and report back in a bit.
EDIT1: Wifi works and was able to log into my Google account. Currently restoring my Titanium Backup and will test a bit more after that. Also, camera makes the tablet reboot on first launch, but works after that. Odd. More info to come.
EDIT2: Face unlock is there, but doesn't recognize my face, so I can't test it out. It couldn't recognize my face on my Nexus S 4G either. Maybe my face is just derped up. Anyway, there is nothing that I could tell that is broken. Even the MicroSD mounted with no issue. I don't have a keyboard dock to test it out, otherwise I would. Games and videos both work fine.

Gummy build on goo.im

There is a gummy otter build on the goo manager app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager its maintained by kejar16 and Hashcode helped with the device setup and kernel. If you like customization, check it out. I have nothing to do with this build, I just got permission from kejar to mention it. Enjoy!

Its a nice build. I was unable to change my volume and the home button did not work though.
I wonder if this is a different build from one I d/l on May 9th? The Goo Manager file I just saw has a build date of 4/25/12, the one I d/l on May 9th was called v1.2.
I thought the rom had some cool features but see my post from 5/9 below about a couple of key things for me that were missing and kejar never responded. Since the GM file has a date of 4/25, I would think that these functions are still missing???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25881309&postcount=27
EDIT: nvm, just found a slew of near nightly releases of Gummy. Maybe will try again to see if these issues were addressed. Can someone who has tried the latest 6/4 release confirm if UMS works and if you can boot to recovery with FFF 1.4a?

I'm running the 05/28 nightly and have been doing so since errr 05/28. I have been really impressed with it (apart from the boot animation lol). The main thing I have not been impressed with on these ics roms is the rather poor battery life. I've tried aokp, gede and another of the cm9 roms and this is definitely best for me to terms of battery. I also had problems with the back light staying on with some of the others but not this. It is worth a try in my opinion

A walkaround for this problem is add menu button as a forth button in navigation bar, find this setting in ROM control. But it's a little annoying.

Definitely a HUGE thanks to Socim!! The Paranoid rom is working really well on my phone. Only 1 reboot during initial setup with an up time of 45h. Very stable.
Thread needs to be retitled look at cm9 or Cm10 thread title for format. If not following proper thread title etiquette for custom roms we may get locked by mod.

Everything was great for me too... No reboots for 2 days, but what I did experience is lockups and slowdowns. I tried modifying cpu thresholds to no avail. Also had camera probs.
Really cool rom, I hope it gets support in the future to make totally stable... For now, had to revert back to 0829 cm9...stable stable land! Haha

Weird, I've never encountered that issue. I assume you did a complete clean install of the Paranoid rom? Maybe get cat log running and log the event if it happens, I hear that helps devs track down the issue. Are any specific apps running when these reboots occur?
been running this ROM for around 24 hours noticed around 4 or 5 random resets and am still having the issue with instagram and youtube controls being put in the background. Otherwise the build is quite reliable and very snappy, Thanks for the effort!
The reboot for me only occurs during screen unlock. I have remove the patern unclock and since then did not see any reboot. Will let you know tomorrow the result
Update: I got another reboot this morning without any lock active. Will try another fresh install to see

I'll help maybe this weekend. I am busy for the week.
So I installed CM 10.1 on my phone and now it says it can't find any contacts on my SIM card. Is this just an issue with CM 10.1, or did installing it delete the contacts?

Apparently it's an issue with jellybean rather then CM0.1; some fixes might be try inserting your sim card into a spare phone that uses a lower version of android (gingerbread/froyo/ics) or a different os and save the contacts there, and send them over text or bluetooth.
So I found another problem with CM 10.1: I can't use my SD card. It gets recognized under Settings -> Storage, but I can't play music from it, and I can't view files in it from the file browser. Is this a known issue (one that other people are experiencing) with the 9/20 build of CM 10.1 for this phone, and if so, is there a later build that fixes it?
It's not a big deal since all of my music is on an iPod I carry with me (usually), and I don't do anything else on my phone that needs more than a few MBs of space, but it's annoying.

I'm on the 09/20 build and SD card works fine. Perhaps you need to format your sd card so that its compatible with android; I believe it should be formatted to FAT32, and try using Root browser (free from play store) and go to extSdCard and the files should be there given that the sd-card is working. There are more builds after 09/20 but since the original dev has not reuploaded them to goo (or goo has deleted them by accident) we're stuck with 09/20 until I can build a version of cm myself (I'm somewhat close to it).
I have a few of these phones and they are great, I cant believe we don't have more devs on these for a clean unbloated rom. Let us know if you come up with something. :_)
Just a quick update; I'm done exams which means I could start my attempts at porting over CM10.2 again. I had some issues applying a patch needed to enable STE Hardware, so I just manualIly downloaded the files to the correct places for the time being (which should get help me get past the build-error I was seeing before). I'm compiling a build now, and hopefully I don't run into any build errors and can test in on my phone.

Is pac the only legit rom available for this phone? I'd really like to see a stock version of jelly bean...

There is stock firmware, unless you mean an AOSP version? I don't think any of the U8500 based phones have AOSP built, so porting it over would be difficult. There's also CM10.1 available for the phone with working camera (no video camera), issues with audio at times (which requires a reboot). I'm working on CM10.2, but running into some kernel issues, so I yet have to see to how that goes.

I managed to find an odin flashable rom somewhere that includes su so that's what I'm running in the mean time. I tried both the roms in the o.p.
Pac was pretty close to what I like in a rom but it's abandoned so there's no chance of the bugs getting fixed.
This is such a great little phone and now that metro is giving them away for free I assumed xda would be blowing up with development but I guess not...
I'll be checking this thread everyday and I'll test out any thing you come up with. really looking forward to your rom.
I managed to compile CM10.2 and it did indeed boot. I'm not yet releasing it because camera is missing. But other then that everything seems fine, does require more testing, and I've been working non-stop for a couple of hours now (it's 4am here, lol).
Edit:
Changelog:
V.1.0.0
- initial build of CM10.2
- SmartAss v2 governor (should help with battery life) (unjust already had this there, and I could add in other governors in future)
List of Current Bugs:
- missing camera (have an idea on how to fix it )
- random boot logo appears (i believe this was on pac as well, will look into it)
- torch not working (dependent on camera working as well but since camera isn't working, torch isn't working as well)
- sound issues (like CM10.1 most likely)
I'll make a new thread for this rom, once camera is working, and we could start from there. I've yet to test out calling and bluetooth.
Just a reminder; I'm learning how to dev as I'm going so please don't expect nightlies (slow upload rate + lack of free time + lack of knowledge) and fixes to be posted suddenly.
Excellent. and thanks for not adding another half baked ROM to the list.

Thanks, and aha, yeah I figured. Originally one of the patches for multimedia didn't go through, so I figured that was the culprit, but now that I applied and recompiling, I'm running into more build errors, but I'll get through them.
I just messaged you,

@Unjustified Dev Thanks for helping @Exothermic. I'm sure he and the whole T599 community would highly appreciate your support on getting an updated CM ROM with less bugs. Thank you again. As always if you need help with testing I'm here for you.

If anyone is interested: I still have a copy of the cm-10.1-20130925-UNOFFICIAL-codinamtrgapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip with gapps files. This wast the last build i believe unjustdev was working on before he moved to PAC...this build has a functioning camera, but no video and the sound issues. I would be happy to upload, let me know.
If u have the out of space issue I created this quick tutorial that it might help some of you guys if it does please click thanks
