I found that in the system ui there are the default softkeys, and in system/app there is an ap called softkeysbar, i think if we delete that app we will get the default ics icons!

Or amazon dont delete nothing, the kindle hd is a bit slow for they ecosystem, like the phone.apk in system/app. they are very stupid, and thats why the kindle is slow.

It was in a post awhile ago.. The init.d tweaks were with the script you provided from Ryuinferno and then you included the tweak too. In supercharger V6 I'm running Super UL option 7 aggressive.. everything's running great I have an average Antutu score just around 7800

if you liked them, now i will upload a new one with mp9engine i got 7920, you could get more than 7700, i verified that they worked, and i will upload the build prop for 7.2.1 and 7.2.3 already tweaked by me.
i used them, now i downgraded to 7.2.1 that is faster and i m using the build prop for 7.2.1 already tweaked by me, i will make a post that i will upload it later}

persano,
Unfortunately it is not that easy. The SoftKeysBar.apk is a known ICS service that provides the Transparent bar allowing icons to be placed on the bar. If you disable or remove this service you may loose the upper and lower Task Bars. This service calls to the framework-res.apk service which holds the Wallpaper and Lockscreen graphics. We have played with it a bit and had negative results so far, maybe you will have better luck, just make a backup of the device first.

I agree your build.prop is solid. The V6 Supercharger script did not work well on our Kindle, so we just took the time to make the performance Mods manually. So far, our internal office Kindle HD 7" has a Antutu score of 8650. Once we are done with all the mods, we will integrate the script into our Kindle Fire First Aide. We will post availability when done.

I used the ones you had on that post and I am currently using 7.2.3. Yea I would like to try the new ones if you get a chance to upload them..
I'm running his earlier-posted build.prop with zero problems. I'm emboldened to fiddle with it due to a fairly recent backup & one of Skorp's Finest handy. Screams of frustration from the general direction of SE Texas will be me pushing it too far. Again.

lacoursiere18,
I can say, anything persano posts is solid. We have watch him grow in XDA and he is a solid member who offers solid tweaks. I was impressed with your V6 Supercharger tweaks, we did not have as good of luck with the scripts. I will be interested to see the code in the mp12 engine script. We have found that the Kindle is in it's own class since it is a seriously modified version of Ice Cream Sandwich. Having said this, when these scripts are executed, they read the platform as ICS not Kindle ICS and this is the problem. This is why we decided to go manual with the tweaks. When we are done performance testing the tweaks, we will add them to our software Kindle Fire First Aide.

pandacookie,
Nice screen name. Yes, I can say without hesitation it was not persano's tweaks that killed the Kindle. The build.prop is a very sensitive file, if not done perfectly, you will end up with a nice door stop. Remember, the Warranty will run out at some point and you will be forced to get a cable. Get one sooner than latter, it is worth every penny and with our utility, you can be back in business in less than 10 minutes: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888
What we do is backup the device every 7 days, it takes less than 10 minutes to backup the entire Kindle and allows a quick restore in a disaster. So every time you have the Kindle where you like it, back it up. I know it takes time but it certainly saves time in the end. Be sure to post you Antutu scores here, you may end up with a free Nexus 7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2071574
When you are ready for the cable send us a PM, we stock the original SkOrPn Factory USB Cable.

I see now you put the script into 00tweaks.
I still don't feel any difference though, only that Quadrant dropped from 1800+ to 1700ish, but well... it's Quadrant
Another issue I have is with these changes it closes SetCPU from background after opening a game so I have to restart it manually, it happened with v2 too.

Introduction
I've made a Definite Guide on Android thread for i9000 that focuses on a few optimizations/scripts I've picked up over the months I've spent on XDA. I truly enjoyed sharing my knowledge with the i9000 community and since the tips/guide/scripts can also be applied here (save some exceptions that I would list down below),I would like to share this with the Captivate community too.
Exceptions
Take note that the guide is primarily for i9000 units. There are a few differences I can note here that you should be aware of:
1. The guide points out some kernels/ROMs that are for i9000. Hence the phones you are using may have different ROMs/kernels that may or may not correlate with the one in the guide.
2. The guide also mentions some apps/tweaks that are particularly alien to your unit and you may have never encountered it in your use of your phone or in XDA. Please ignore them for now, I'll make an effort to make the guide compatible in the future (with feedback from you guys of course )
3. Journaling scripts that are attached like the JournalingOn.zip and Acid Tweaks - Removed Useless Stuff and 00remount may not work well with your unit or it may completely brick it. I don't know this, but if you can post your mount partition configuration, I am willing to make the scripts work for you. You only have to type "mount" on your Terminal Emulator and provide the output to me, and I'll provide the rest. Zach's script however, have high compatibility towards a lot of phones, and thus can be used for your unit. Take note that there is a slight risk that it won't work well. If it doesn't, please post your problems here, and I'll try to fix it. Hence, it's best that you make a nandroid backup before attempting to use any tweaks here.
3. I've compiled a guide on a few notable tweaks in XDA here: LINK. If you would like me to evaluate scripts/tweaks/anything that you do not understand due to their terms being alien to you, I'll be glad to explain it here

The only one I'm not confident at is Perso. That's why it's better to freeze it rather than delete it. Deleting it makes it harder to restore.
You can freeze it with System Tuner (free app) or Titanium Backup Pro (Paid)
Of course I was freezing, but a quick reboot solve the problem.. Thanks again for this great guide!
As for the memory leaks problem, can you explain more? Will I have to write those commands every time the phone is being laggy?

Great
There's a script called drop in the 3rd post. You can use it with Script Manager once you feel the lag coming in. However, to get rid of the lag entirely, you have to tweak the LMK so that free memory doesn't drop below a certain threshold. You can use Auto Memory Manager or Supercharger for that.
Thanks, used this first way, created a nice widget that will do the script
pikachu, just wanted to let you know. Your scripts are incredible. The difference in battery life after adding the 2 scripts to init.d is incredible. I was going through the one. I'm on Apex 10.1 w/ TalonDev 0.5.1.3 was wondering if there would be any added benefit of changing the awake_governor to OnDemandX instead of Ondemand and if you could recommend any other fun things I can try that would be great also.
EDIT: Also still in my init.d is the s70_darky_zipalign scripted would it be recommended to remove that or keep it.

Yes, the VM settings actually save more battery as the number of I/O transactions are kept at the minimum.
You can change it to OndemandX, but OndemandX's main difference with Ondemand is the sleep code as well as the high threshold (95 opposed to 80 in Ondemand). This would result in a generally more powersaving but slower scaling method.
Since conservative is already used when sleeping, using OndemandX is counterproductive IMHO.
The darky zipalign script doesn't work as Darky rom doesn't come with the zipalign binary. You can zipalign with Rom Toolbox (in the market). Also 99.9% of APKs that are used are already zipaligned from the start(you can check this with Rom Toolbox). Don't need to zipalign again.

I made a mistake here. Rom Toolbox doesn't zipalign your APKs well. It failed to detect an unzipaligned APK in my ROM. I will publish a guide to zipalign, but it's pretty much manually done.
Made some pretty big changes to the guide.

Or use the original V6 Supercharger, which was poorly copied by that app
V6 or nothing.
I don't need this app since I use DiXperia 2 ROM. Super smooth even with millions widgets installed.
Prefer stock for the official support and this app is helpful for gaming lag/etc.
Prefer this app to v6
I remember seeing Juwe11 post a ram script and it was hell popular last time too. Why is it accused of being a copy now?
i downlaoded the pro version, switch to hard gamming, and i still have the same performance on dead trigger, a bit laggy and with some frame drops, im running the game on the lowest setting
i wanna pimp my xplay..

Zep (the creator of V6) claims RMP stole some numbers and OOM fixes he used for his script. Which is why V6 wont even install if you have RMP somewhere installed.

All of this is just placebo until numbers can be shown, and even then its not for sure. Even Antutu can be + or - 1000 points depending what cycle the moon is in (joke), but yeah I believe 90% of the scripts out there don't do anything useful at all. I've never noticed a difference. Even the bravia engine is a joke, unless you side by side a hi res picture, you really aren't going to notice difference.
In past, i used this. And i think that is placebo effect, like others. No real or significant results.

To be honest, I don't think people can win. If they start a new topic about something then they are told to use the search as the topic already exists elsewhere but then if they do use the search and find a relevant topic then they are told its too old. How can you win?
In my opinion, if the topic is relevant, the age of the thread shouldn't matter. Its much better to have an old thread with a lot of contributions to it than the same thread posted 100x over.
i hate all that placebo think they love to play with our mind....lol, like the volume control apps, that gains bout 120% of volume gain...lol not true

Ok, here goes. I flashed a 1600 OC capable kernel per the SeanZ JB Rom Hydro thread and it added a governor called "Pegasusq". It was suggested to me on a prior kernel that didn't include this mentioned one to just go with "On Demand".
Should I set Pegasusq to take over.
And also in that ROM thread above that I mentioned another user said they simply added the "SIO" Governor but I never got a response back as to it's usage benefits vs.s any of the above that I've mentioned.
Can anyone help here or explain a bit.
Also: To the OP - You mis-spelled Kernel <--- May want to fix so others take this thread more seriously. Just a suggestion.
I tested my friend some random class 6 or class 8 (he didnt know) card and here the results.

And offcourse hydro 4.1 rom and Data2SD_OC_1.8_Kernel, still waitingt that faster card. Damm the finnish postal service is so slow
Still trying to figure how to add vdd (voltage) change in kernel. I get voltages to show in setcpu, but im not able to "apply" them. Well mayby next days. http://db.tt/hslKzmAo

I tried Pegasusq and it didn't work out well for me. Caused many random reboots. Back to ondemand for now.
Remember, I'm on that 1600hz or whatever Kernel - don't remember the exact name, would have to dig through the last 5 or so pages of Seanz' Hydro JB thread to even figure out which one I'm on. I do have a 32GB Ext SDCard in this sucker but not sure what rating it is. - would it say on the card and if so, would a different (please be specific) Data2SD kernel be more to my suiting?
Thanks guys!
PS: And thanks for correcting the title of the thread

Yeah the rating should be on the card, a number with a letter C around it. Well at least most of them have it. Just check your card out and type whatever you see in it so we can help you identify it.
For example this sdcard is class 4 you can see the number inside the C: http://40.76.my/Malaysia/[email protected]

and there i spotted " 2) Deadline
Goal is to minimize I/O latency or starvation of a request. The same is achieved by round robin policy to be fair among multiple I/O requests. Five queues are aggressively used to reorder incoming requests.
Advantages:
Nearly a real time scheduler.
Excels in reducing latency of any given single I/O.
Best scheduler for database access and queries.
Bandwidth requirement of a process - what percentage of CPU it needs, is easily calculated.
Like noop, a good scheduler for solid state/flash drives."
So i wanted to test it and compiled kernel with it. testing it soon, and then i have to go sleep

Most of life is a choice between one or the other but with the Nexus 7 along with Root, Custom Recovery, cm10.2 unofficial, Faux Clock Kernel Control App and Jassy Release 5 Kernel it might just be possible to have both. Jassy has managed to put together a kernel that combines a 1.9 GHz over clock and a 487 MHz GPU over clock. With a global undervolt of -24 MV I managed to pull off stunning benchmarks, smooth lag free performance and incredible battery time. Just under 13 hours battery time in fact. I did this with a YouTube kung fu movie fest for about 12 and a half hours and a half hour of benchmarks and downloading a few apps. Remember if you game you can not expect this kind of battery performance but it does do great at that as well. I've attached some screenshots of my settings so you can reproduce these results if you would like.
Remember when you Root, ROM and Over clock you do it at your own risk and please thank the fine Developers who gave their time to make this kind of fantasy possible. I in no way had a hand in developing this software, I just took the time to do many benches and battery tests on many Roms and kernels then undervolted a bit.

So to replicate your results, we need to flash cyagen, and jassy release 5, and then adjust the settings to replicate yours, or does jassy's release already have some of those settings in it?
What other apps did you download?
Getting longer battery life and a faster tablet is quite attractive!
EDIT I just installed jassy r5, and my quadrant is only 5679.. is something wrong, or do I need to also do the tweaks you listed here first?
EDIT 2: I've set faux to the same setting now, but am still using cleanroom1.3, and the quadrant results are 6787

Sorry I never saw your posts. Never looked at the thread again. To replicate my results you would have to download cm10.2 and Jassy release 5 and faux kernel control app paid version and set exactly like in the screen shots. I have since made a few more refinements but nothing you couldn't play with yourself. Make sure you enable mpdecision. Make every screen look like mine.

Yep, I did duplicate them, but couldn't get quadrant scores anywhere near yours. (they were better though.. it might be a cleanroom issue).
I upgraded to Jassy rev 6, ran into issues, and then just reflashed the stock kernel.
I was hoping we'd see Jassy rev 6 lockup issues fixed, but its been a week now. I'm also read of a few misc cm issues, and I'e been waiting for them to clear up as well. Cleanrom isn't having any issues at all, so I've stuck with it for now.

Cleanrom will not bench as high. Its a stock based ROM. Truth is though once your this high your not gonna see a whole lot of improvement in daily performance unless you go looking for it. Cleanrom is one of the best Roms I've ever used and there is absolutely nothing wrong with sticking with it. I go back and forth between the 2 myself. As themes and tweaks come out for nexus 7 2013 you'll find cleanrom will get even better than it is now also. Wish someone would do a tablet ui lol.

I haven't had a single random reboot. Chrome works real well as long as you can change it from beta in lower left of xda page. I haven't overheated but I gotta tell you I'm no hardcore android gamer. Some angry birds from time to time or subway surfers lol. I have probably gamed for about an hour or so on these settings and not gone into a state of panic about temps though. Any longer than that or some other game and I couldn't say. in fact FOR me things are so smooth on this machine I had to order a new HP to tinker with lol. Seriously this is the best android machine I've owned. And buddy, I've had em all. I also use adaway so that may help with chrome as well.
Impressive scores man.
Yeah hesitant to jump to other roms myself at least at this time. Everything is so new finding a "good one" is hard to do at least yet. Though I've used CleanROM's on other devices I've had in the past and love them. Personally if CleanROM comes out with a 1.4 I might consider jumping into it.
Thanks for sharing! My only suggestion would be for you to recommend another kernel tuning app other than Faux's app. I'm just personally not a fan of someone who does nothing but kang, and even then still doesn't credit who he is kanging from. Too many hard working honest developers for me to support a faux developer (yes, pun intended. Maybe that's where the screen name came from?).

I have absolutely No interest in politics on my nexus 7 2013. if he did wrong, shame on him however I have tried each and every kernel control app on the market and reported my best results. I have yet to produce scores or battery life comparable even within 10% of fauxclock/Jassy R5 combo. I do not intend to do any research at all about whatever faux123 did or didn't do. I understand a personal grudge and respect your right to hold one. If your looking for something as close as you can get to his kernel control app try trickster. I didn't have a lot of success with it but you might find a combination that works close. If I were in the middle of whatever happened between faux123 and you or whoever I might have formulated an opinion. I'm not chiding you either. You brought an issue before me and I am simply stating I don't want involved as its in my humble opinion not my place or my fight, not to mention it appears it was already fought.
if I simply hated and didn't use a product based on someone else I don't know having a problem with that individual I wouldn't be able to buy anything, at all, anywhere, on earth, or in heaven, ever! If you tell me he harmed a baby and I see he was convicted of it in a trial of his peer's elected in a fair and balanced environment I will most certainly NOT have anything to do with him. But unproven or conflicting information, that may be due to personal interpretations is difficult for me to get involved in. Especially after the fact. And then there is the whole, if a man was punished for his crime do you continue to persecute him after he paid his dues thing.
Are there any deal breaking issues in CM? If not, switching does not bother me at all, and getting better all over performance is worth while.
I just don't want to spend more time tinkering with my tablet than actually using it.

I personally would call the current cm build almost RC material. I have no problems with it at all.
My bin was 14/2 if I'm not mistaken.
I probably lose a bit less than that but can't say for certain as I constantly use it lmao. I do get exceptional screen on time really. There are some screen shots on previous page I think.
Cool. Might have to take the plunge. Do you have to wipe to install it? (I didn't have to wipe for cleanrom.)
