I've read about and seems there's slow data problems with AT&T but I'm having very slow data on my N4. Takes ages to do anything and it used to be very fast on my s3

I'm on Tesco (O2) getting about 3Mbps down and 2 up, what are you getting on speedtests? I can get an orange sim tomorrow in work to test.

speedtest.net
It says 3.9 down and 1.6 up here ATM.
But during the day and out and about its dead. Its more most of the time it takes you a few attempts at the go button before it returns the page successfully without it saying unable to connect

I have no sim for my Nexus 4. I tether to my VZW Galaxy Nexus. However, it seems I'm being throttled. While connected I run speed test. It starts slow then jumps up to normal speeds.. 20mbs. When I download or get on the web my speed is very slow. To download a 120mb file takes at least 30 min.
When using my works WiFi, speeds are normal. Downloads are as they should be. It's something to do with the hotspot. I've searched for another thread with this issue and can't find any answers.
I've also tethered my Nexus 7 and laptop to my Galaxy Nexus and speeds are normal. This only happens with the Nexus 4. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated... Sorry to add another thread in this maze.

Man, I just can't find a fix for this. Been through many different ROMs on both phones, searched the net and settings and can find no answer. I put an active att sim card in to no avail. Such an odd situation. Unfortunately this is my only access to speeds above .5 mbs at home. Again, any ideas would be great.

I'm seeing the same results. I'm using a LTE xoom as a hotspot, and getting terrible speeds on the N4. Other devices, including the Galaxy Nexus, are all doing fine.
Why would you buy a Nexus 4 only to connect to a Verizon hotspot????

Who said I bought it? It's the only way to get wifi at work. Cant get AT&T or T-mobile signals in the building
I have unlimited data on VZW and LTE everywhere I go. However, at my home, no one offers home internet besides satellite. I get much better speeds on VZW hotspot.
I love nexus devices. I wanted the nexus 4. So I bought one. Luckily however impractical, I can afford all this. T-Mobile and att have no service at my home, so getting rid of VZW isn't an option.
I do now have att and T-Mobile plans. Having an active Sim didn't make a difference. I didn't think it would but I held out hope Lol.

I am having a similar issue with my Nexus 4 (with Tmobile Sim) connecting to my Hotspot on my Thunderbolt (Verizon). When connected to my hotspot, my download speeds are stuck around .5 mbps but upload speeds are normal. The Nexus 4 has no issues at all when connecting to my wifi at home or at work, and other devices connected to my Hotspot have no issues. My friend who has his Nexus 4 flashed to CM 10 (also with TMo sim) has no issues when connected to his hotspot on his Note 2 (Verizon).
I'm in Houston Texas on T-Mobile.
It seems it takes a long time to connext to something. Web browsing is ok and instagram takes forever to load pics. I have full bars when this is happening and sometimes on 3g and sometimes on hspa.
I am wondering if the phone is defective or the service is that ****ty
I used to be on tmobile went to Verizon and came back to tmobile.
Vz is way more expensive but now I see why.

Have you tried tmobiles LTE here in Htown? It is better than decent. Ive been using it since they flipped the switch and I must say that the last couple of weeks has been kinda wonky... Hopefully they are just trying to work out the bugs.
Likely the network is clogged. It happens on verizon too like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-VVwPqhXw
Actually, I have a similar issue where if I don't use data for like ten seconds and I try to use it, there's a long delay (long enough to cause a loss of connection on the game Word feud) in which it comes back after like 5-10 seconds. I think that's called latency? I'm not sure and wanted to know if there's a way to fix that lag. Thanks in advance.

Its gotten progressively worse here by the reliant. Its worse than edge speeds even though I'll have full bars. Its annoying to have to carry around my VZW hotspot all the time. It didn't used to be this bad. Maybe its the influx of new iPhone users. Grrrr

No problems here in Tampa Florida. I regularly get approximately 20mbps down all the time except for peak hours, then its usually still around 15 or so. Hope you figure it out.

This happened on my first nexus 4. Nothing fixed it. Nothing. Hopefully your situation is different. If nothing works, flash back to stock and start the RMA process. Google said it was a hardware failure with mine by the way.

The periodic loss of signal was there since day. I still have it on my new one. Others do as well, but one day it went out and never came back on. I believe it was a different issue than just random signal loss. Google said hardware failed in it. You have to contact Google to start an RMA. I'm also not implying that your signal won't come back on at some time either. Personally I would flash everything back to stock. Go to a t mobile store and get a new Sim card and if no signal still then contact Google

Under settings, then data, then mobile networks, then to network operators.
let it search, even if it doesn't find anything or errors.
Then click choose automatically.
If you frequently travel out of 3g/H areas, you need that checked or the phone won't roam from tower to tower. you will get no signal.
Also, if that don't work, you can try clicking on a network it finds, and let it register, your signal may come back.
This is a common problem with those that don't live in big cities or near full strength 3g/h areas.
The phone doesn't handle tower handoffs well. Crappy LG modems.

I'm currently going through the RMA process over virtually the exact same issue. However, I've been running franco's nightlies lately and up until he restored the HSIC/wifi stuff to stock in r154 I was actually experiencing less data drops and rapid tower swapping (constantly going from 3g to H and back rendering consistent data inoperable). *shrug* I feel as if it's something in the hardware on the cusp of failing because sometimes it does it more and sometimes it does it less. It's rather weird. I'm also on T-mobile towers through an MVNO (Straight Talk).
I just cancelled and switched to ATT go phone.
I have RMA'd 2 devices, tried multpie new simcards, relflashed, tried new radios, and nothing worked.
It no longer switches from 3g to H on ATT network.
It stays in H constantly.
Also, no more signal drops or loss of signal.
I have 100% signal all the time now.
The data is a little more expensive, but worth it for the coverage so far.
It's not your phone, it's the tmobile network.
Does anyone get lag while playing Modern Combat 4 "Online" using T-Mobile data ?
I just switched from at&t so just wondering if it is a T-Mobile issue.
Before anyone wants to be the cool guy. No you do not have to use Wi-Fi to play . just turn on Wi-Fi But do not connect to a Wi-Fi network.
Then you can play anywhere you are, without Wi-Fi.
Also if you don't know, but have Mc4 & T-Mobile. Could you please try and lmk ?
Thanks!

is your phone rooted, or with a custom recovery? if so, enable lte, youll be better off that way(if tmobile lte is in your area).
Nope all stock. Sometimes I get 14mb down , but even then I get this lagg/delay
Like when a new game starts . I don't spawn until the clock is at 9:54 left . and I shoot at someone & I die. Etc huge delay!
Now I keep getting disconnected . I'm going to guess it has to be T-Mobile issue.

Try a different modem/baseband and give it a couple of days to settle!(0.27 or 0.54)
Should be okay.
You could even call airtel after that and tell them to give you the 3g settings on the call itself and save it manually.
