For those without a factory cable - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

If you have google play store installed, download ROM toolbox lite (free) or side load it, Select Rebooter and reboot bootloader. Thanks to hashcode cm10.1 is installed on my kf2. Sorry if this has been posted, thought it'd help.

holy smokes, this is happening to me with rooted stock. I even did a factory reset and nothing changed, all apps were downloaded except dead trigger, music, maps and TI.
I figured out how to fix this all you have to do is DL the latest Google apps zip then flash it and then it all works again
nevermind problem came back this is getting really annoying x,x

I got mine fix. I had to install stock image, lock the boot-loader and then clean all caches and unlock, then root again.
It was a pain in the ass as many times i had to factory reset and install stock rom in order to fix it.
Hope you fix it.
Just image factory restore your nexus 7 yeah it erase all data but will fix for sure. There is 2 tool to do that pretty easily.
1. Nexus 7 Toolkit v2.0
2. Nexus Root Toolkit 1.5.3
Bot can Restore to stuck, lock/unlock bootloader, install stock/custom img or recovery etc...

Did it happen to you as well ?
No but Restoring to the factory image must fix the issue unless it is a hardware issue but it is a software bug

Updated SmoothROM and my Nexus 7 stopped working! Can't get back into recovery.

I have had my Nexus 7 with SmoothROM on it for a long time now, I use it here and there, but I noticed it acting kind of glitchy lately especially when using the keyboard. I got 2 notifications from GROUPER (i think thats the name of it...) saying I had an update to SmoothROM (v 4.2) and that google apps needed to be updated... I did the normal crap, wiped everything, flashed the new smoothrom, flashed on the google apps, but when I rebooted it just keeps popping up saying "Unfortunately, the process blah blah gapps has stopped", then when i press ok it says Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped".... and when i press ok on that it just keeps popping back up... will NOT go away no matter what I try...
On top of this... I tried going to fastboot and putting it in recovery mode but then it just goes to the main boot screen that says Google with a lock at the bottom, and it is just stuck there...
So what would be the easiest course of action here? I can't get it into Recovery mode I don't think, although I forgot how to do it in the first place, I thought it had to do with sliding the lock somewhere at the boot screen but I have tried that and nothing seems to work...
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Update: I managed to get into the settings and put USB Debugging on
so now it gets recognized by my computer and I can view and transfer files.... But I still can't get it into recovery mode so what should I do now lol?
Should I be looking for something like this " Google Nexus 7 Toolkit V3.2.0 " ?
Use wugs to restore to stock and start over
If you go back to smoothrom make sure you download it again might have been a bad download

When you power on your nexus press volume down and up and power button together for a couple of seconds. Your screen will go off and then "Google" will come up. Continue pressing and you will be in the boot loader menu. Go to recovery and install the ROM you want. (Can you get there?) Or else try to install it from your PC with cmd. Let me know if the first way works.

Same here, I dirty flashed it from stock instead of full wipe. Always do full wipe just in case.

is the lock under the Google logo open or closed? if you installed a custom ROM, it should be open. if it is closed, the bootloader somehow got locked again.
however, i think the issue you are experiencing is related to gapps. you either have a bad download of gapps or flashed the wrong gapps (some roms require custom gapps). try the volume down+power thing to get to the bootloader, then go to recovery. if you can't, flash a recovery using fastboot or use one of those toolkits to flash a recovery. before you re-flash your ROM and gapps, i'd recommend verifying the MD5 sum, since that will tell you whether the downloaded file is good or not.
Sorry for the late reply guys but as it usually goes my ADHD got the best of me and before I came back to read this i ended up using that Google toolkit thing that I asked about and did what somebody said (option 9) to download and then install the stock ROM (but thank you!!) BUT in case anybody would like to know the lock was open and I could put it in fastboot but it wouldn't boot me into recovery. Hopefully anybody else updating smoothrom that ends up in my position will find this thread. I also suggest just downloaded the ROM and flashing it with the recovery that was my first time using that update ROM thing and it screwed up lol.
Again thanks a ton! Is there any new ROMs out there for the Nexus 7? Anything better than SmoothROM (or stock, lol)?

Rasbeanjelly with Franco kernel. I think it's the best out there.. I got 5k on quadrant with no overclock anywhere. Games play with no lag, it's very good

Maybe I'll try that... I'm gonna do quadrant right now I DLed it right after I got stock on but haven't tested it yet

I have seen a huge difference also in the overall speed of the system, very responsive and fast every second you should try it out

SuperSU problem with updating binary

I hope someone can help me.
After my KF HD 7" running 7.2.3 updated itself to 7.3.0 i lost my root but I have now rooted it using v27 binary and qemu root as the guide on here shows. Everything worked perfect and i can use blackmart alpha again. But when I click on SuperSU I get the message The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue? I press continue and get the option to use normal or custom recovery so I press normal. Then after a minute or so i get the error installation failed!
I have searched for a solution but nothing is the same as my issue on this device.
I have SuperSU installed and superuser (when I try and open this I get superuser has stopped)
I have tried uninstalling SuperSU and re-installing it but still the same!
I can still install apps by downloading them on blackmart alpha then using ES explorer to install them. Where before blackmart used to do it itself.
Are you sure you aren't updated to 7.3.1 and have lost root

No, definitely 7.3.0 in the about section of the device
In fact your are right! I've just had a look and its running 7.3.1, so I'll root it again. Thanks

[Q] jwr66y- few apps immediatly crash

Hey, I've done a full wipe as well as return to stock, then proceed to install jwr66y from scratch, after installing i proceeded installing twrp and superuser, everything seems to run fine with root and all. The only thing which has been bothering me is that some apps are displaying force close error immediatly after starting them. Examples are Adaway, Adfree and Yelp.
Anyone knows what's going on there?
Same thing with me, some apps just crash immediately. I'm glad I made a backup before I installed. I installed the ota through a zip to preserve root/custom recovery and also just installing it normally. Same thing happens with crashes.

Yeah i also installed though a Zip which was supposed to be vanilla with added busybox and root.
I had my nexus 7 running so i was backing up from there which fixed the problem. However i am really wondering why apps which were downloaded straight from google play messed around.
I hope they won't mess around later.
I was completely stock and the same thing happened to me. I had to erase recovery, data and boot loader through fastboot and then reinstall everything new from the factory image on Google's site.

Oh wow. I had to do that with the initial 4.3 release. Don't think I'll do it for such a minor update unless I have a lot of free time. Though, the software update notification is in the way most of the time.. In surprised this isn't affecting more devices.

Return Ouya to stock?

I've had my Ouya for a few days and have rooted, installed Google Play etc
However I am finding it a little unstable and would like to start again from scratch and restore it to the stock ROM. A factory reset doesn't get rid of Google Play store or Settings.
Is there some way to restore to stock?
I restored mine last night by downloading the ota from the website, booted into cwm, did a factory reset from there, then flashed the ota

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to be able to do it without installing CWM but maybe its not possible.
I tried this method but can't find Windows recovery mode driver - if there is such a thing. I get the yellow triangle once the Ouya goes into recovery and can't adb.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385485
Go here to get the driver.
If you're running Windows 8 make sure to turn off driver signature enforcement.
Once you have the driver working you can put the OUYA in recovery and go to sideload the stock image..which is here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266629
Adb only sees OUYA in sideload mode with stock recovery. At least for me.

Thanks for the help lads, I now have it restored.
It took me forever, though . Nothing seemed to work i.e. CWM, sideloading in recovery etc etc
Turns out I didn't have the windows driver installed properly . Everything looked OK in device manager but it wasn't. I (eventually) uninstalled everything and installed the drivers from scratch. I then sideloaded the OTA at the first attempt.
