When I connect to my home network my WiFi bars turns gray and I can browse the net but to receive emails and other stuff I have to re sync
Gmail and fb, but if I go somewhere else and connect to the network the icon tours blue and everything works normal. What can I do to fix
This problem?

I get those grey bars only for 30 s.-1 min. after I connect, because they turn blue. I browsed the internet and everything was working just fine, I don't think it's a really big problem.
I'm pretty sure the Wi-Fi signal bars turn blue after connecting to the Google servers. My Nexus 7's signal bars go blue after a few seconds. You could try forgetting the network and reconnecting again, or restarting your router.

This is correct. Perhaps the network is blocking the sync services for some reason? I know my school's network does this; I only get gray. Check your router's settings for any ports/services disabled.

Hello, I read the whole post, because I had a similar problem. I have a Aztech WL556E working as a repeater and when I tried to connect my wi-fi icon was always gray, google and I managed to solve the problem, in the configuration of the repeater entered the MAC address of the Nexus 7 and allow the connection. That's it, problem solved. Hope this helps somehow.
sorry for my english
Mine are always greyed out, but mabey that's because I have openDNS blocking malware on my router

So i got my N1 today, connected it to my Wifi at home and it worked flawlessly, then i left it alone for charging, and now it won't talk to the internet anymore
i can access the routers config page via the browser, i can ping the N1 from my PC which is on the same WiFi, my Pc gets in the Internet just fine, but what's up with the N1?
I have apndroid to disable 3G and EDGE/GPRS data, but that didn't affect it earlier.
Any clues?
Does the phone show the Wifi symbol on the notification bar?
hold on it worked there for a second, loaded engadget...
then when i went to check out the android market it gave me a network error again, and the browser also won't show up any pages...

yeah it does, full bars i got like 100% signal...
I downloaded keepwifi from the market, sometimes it would drop out, either because of sleep or because of some other reason.. and with the access points i'd occasionally have to turn off the wifi and then turn it back on
Running CM 5.0.2
My wifi is working now. See post h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5773148&postcount=26
Hmm, you try restarting phone and or taking out the battery for a while.... ?
Maybe even turn it to airplane mode and try.
I have no idea what caused it, but just tonight my phone stopped being able to connect to my home wifi. The wifi symbol in the status bar shows that it is connected, and the phone sees my router but when i try to activate skype it asks me if i would like to use a cellular connection as apparently my wifi does not exist.
Any ideas ?
reboot your modem and router, turn off wifi on the phone until it is back up, then reenable the phones wifi, see if that helps.
No dice. I reset both, the symbol shows me as being connected on the phone but when i load up Opera and try to go to a web page it says 'Connection closed' and Skype also isn't working.
Okay so that's strange. For some reason my HD2 set itself to a Static IP. I went into the Broadcom settings and changed to server assigned IP and it's working again.
Technology is a pain sometimes !

For some weird reason my does a similar thing about every 3-4 days. Nothing changes, it just decides to not connect however resetting the Netgear does the trick (not ideal but does the job).
Other dissapointing thing is often it cant pick up or has poor signal around the house in certain rooms but my wifes bloody Iphone picks up signal everywhere lol (i still convince her, the iphone is inferior)
I'm running Cyanogen 7.2 stable on my Droid 2
It seems I cannot successfully transition from wifi to 3g, or from 3G to wifi without hard resetting my phone. If I turn wifi on, then hard reset the phone, it will connect to my chosen access point, I'll get an IP address, and be able to use internet. But when I go into wifi settings and disable the WiFi, it will claim to connect the 3G but I will not be able to connect to any internet site. The notification area will show 3G icon in white, but never turn cyan to indicate a successful data connection. Trying to turn on airline mode does nothing, and the phone will not go into airline mode until I also, turn it off and turn it back off. Then it will reboot into airline mode. A simple soft reset doesn't seem to solve this problem, I have to preform a power off, and then turn it back on.
Conversely if I set it to use 3G and hard reset it will successfully connect to 3g and work fine, but turning on wifi will result in a connection to the access point but no actual data tansfer. Just as before it will show the connection option's icon on the notification bar will show the WiFi icon but it will say white, and never successfully connect. Alternately wifi will connect and the drop the connection repeatedly.
I've looked all over here, and Google for any working solution but I haven't seen any. Mostly just people having trouble connecting to a specific router, which I DO NOT have. Specially the hand-off to 3G and back seems broken and I have to do a hard reset 100% of the time to change from wifi to 3G and back.
Could somebody point me in the right direction for a solution that hopefully won't involve wiping my phone?
Hi!
I've update my I9505 to Stock 4.3, with root. I've a problem. I use semi-protected WiFI (like at University) that works as follows : the network is technically open to everyone, free, but for navigate\download\anything, you need to open your browser and enter your credentials.
Android 4.2.2 on my I9505 connected automatically to this network, so I opened a browser and put my credentials.
Since I upgraded to 4.3, my phone connects to the network, then disconnects after a few seconds saying that you must authenticate yourself, then I have to enter settings (making it pointless to activate the wifi with the toggle in the notification bar), i've to reconnect to the network manually, wait about 10 \ 15 seconds, then I can open the stock browser and connect from there (I have to connect when it says so). This even though I do not use the toggle, when I activate the wifi in the settings, it connects, disconnects, and I have to reconnect again.
Now, every time I connect I lose a minute when in fact it took a few seconds before, there is no way to return to the previous behavior? Even with root solution. To read an e-mail I have to wait a minute for the connection...
thanks
Edit: sorry, maybe I had to put this thread on Q&A section, but now I can't move...

Yeah I hate it, the same thing happens on the London Underground wifi. It used to just connect then have the notification telling you you had to log in, which you could then click on. What makes it extra doubly annoying, is that the Underground wifi actually does work for everything apart from HTTP traffic before signing in, so you could just not sign in the whole journey and still get email/whatsapp, but not webpages or facebook etc. Now that it disconnects you I don't get anything till I manually connect it.

To get back to the old behaviour go into Settings->Connections->Wifi - > MENU button ->Advanced and disable "auto network switch"
I found I had to do this to get such networks to work ok, otherwise the wifi network was deactivated

ya that was the first thing I checked, it was already off.
I am also facing this problem. Till now no solution. The "Auto Network Switch" seems to be valid for Mobile Data only...
So my problem is that after i connect in any wifi network, my phone says "no internet" however I really have internet connection (for example i can go to facebook), and after reboot it works normal sometime. Tried factory reset with no any help. So does someone have same problems and if you do, did you fix it?
My phone does this with any wifi network and everytime reboot "fix" it. Also i don't do anything special before this problem appears.
Phone: S7 Edge (G935F)
OS: Android 7 Nougat
so it's just cosmetic?
I guess to determine if you've internet the smartphone is pinging a certain server which seems not to be available in your case.
I only did restart once and while I'm on recognized network, it was fixed permanently. It happened only on first use, you may need to reboot the router

Well i guess it's only cosmetic since i can use browser normally and my whatsapp etc works great. I just don't understand why it works this way.
I have similar issues on my wi-fi. When strength of signal goes under 50% (ca <65 dBm), it starts to lag and very offen lost connection to the internet...pretty disturbing and dissapointing I have to say.

Okay, is it like it's really losing connection or just saying that like in my case (i have the connection, but my phone thinks i don't so it shows that "no internet" notification in wifi settings and in the wifi icon)?
It is really also losing of connection, download stuck or is really sloooow. It is also indicated in status bar in Wi-Fi icon (exclamation mark) and under Network name is "Internet can be unavailable".
When the signal is weak, I can't even finish network test through Ookla app - upload test can't be finished.
Same situation is with other wifi networks...in my work when the signal is at 50% signal, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, my other phone has stable connection at the same place where Edge is strugling
