Checking it out now, looks interesting
Has there been a 'stock' 6.0.2.7 available for I9305?
What you mean with stock? Compiled from the original source from cm?
Sure, but non-public, my phone runs it, i will release it in the next days.
Has this thread been moved for some reason? I swear I saw it in the 9305 dev section yesterday but had to search around today to find it and now it is in the S3 General section.
Anyway thanks Obagleyfreer for showing us this, I have been using it all yesterday and am very happy with it. It is much better than cwm 5.5 I think and have been able to do everything ok in it so far, flash vr themes, backup, restore, factory reset etc
thanks great recovery

I personally love the file manager in it. This was one thing I did really like about the CM Kernels so I'm glad that normal Sammy ROMs can now enjoy it

Hi txr33,
yeah it was moved from the i9305 dev forum as I posted it there but wasn't the developer. I was just trying to get i9305 users aware of it.
But it's now been tagged with [i9305] in the title so hopefully a search will show it
I used PhilZ Recovery on my S2 and it was awesome!

Hey everyone,
I'm an X G2x user, and over there in "G2x" land I rooted my phone first.
Then I flashed Clockwork recovery on it
THEN I had a smorgishboard selection of "Roms" to put on my phone.
Here's where i'm confused with the Galaxy S 2, and Terminology really..
What "do we have" here with the SGS2 so far?
Just rooting it? I see over on the dev section people talking about all these kernels... what is that? are they like Roms? Has anyone mad a rom? can we flash it like clockwork mod recovery?
Just a little confused with the differences in terminology and procedures over here on the samsung side.. thanks
No custom roms yet, no CWM either. Just kernels and root....the kernel is a bridge between applications and hardware basically. Terminology shouldn't be that much different really.

Kernels are the base interface between OS and hardware and part of a rom

Far to early for all that SGS2 been out a week + devs in many cases do not yet have SGS2 ( donate one to them ) .
Devs are not getting paid for all this work so as and when they find time and the money to buy SGS2 .
SGS2 is being worked on and no doubt more in the future .

Bear in mind things don't always get posted as soon as they're done. I don't like releasing things that I can't test, so I've got some stuff for as soon as mine actually turns up...

when is urs coming buddy ? i feel like posting it to you once i get my hands on this coming tuesday... because i have seen so many posts where you are quoting that you have been waiting for your device & its still not delivered because of delay..
is it true that you r waiting for the device with NFC or its just a delivery delay ?
AOKP is releasing very frequently for other devices, like maguro.
They also say that "We are working with the guys at CyanogenMod to submit our features & enhancements back upstream to their source".
http://aokp.co/index.php/news
But, what about the contrary?
CM 10 seems to have solved the camera issue in the tablet.
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2860
Isn't it time to speed up a little the development of the jb ROM for it?
Seems Roman (http://aokp.co/index.php/supported_devices/_/samsung/) is not finding that much time do it alone.
Hope we do not get left behind...
Anybody has further info about AOKP (Jelly Bean) development for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1?
Seems I'm quite alone with the Galaxy Tab...
One week more and no news about aokp for it...

Maybe rant was the wrong word to use. But still, he originally posted this thread in the Dev section with no intention to take matters into his own hands and build from AOKP source. So instead, he aired his grievance that we have no AOKP before triptosyll started building for the GTab 10.1.

I agree that the second post was after triptosyll started compiling from source (a simple oversight from me), but nevertheless, he probably didn't look in dev to see that AOKP is now available in JB.

Thanx for clearing that up for me, I was a bit slow.
(I'm a junior member without enough posts to post in the DEV area, so I'm posting on this thread which seems like the best alternative available to me.)
I've been happily using triptosyll's original AOKP build for the last week or two, and recently upgraded to his Nov 8th build. I ran into some problems with the 4.2 Gapps, so I wiped and reinstalled the ROM with Formula84's 4.1.2 Gaps from GooManager. They are working superbly with the A1 1.7.5 kernel and the latest AOKP build from triptosyll. (The stock browser is still gone, but I don't miss it.) Camera, Gallery, Calendar Sync, Keyboard, bluetooth, etc, all seem to be working fine.
I'm SO happy to have AOKP working again on the Galaxy Tab 10.1! I'm also using the TWRP 2.3 recovery from the A1 Kernel OP and it seems to be working great so far. I've been running into a lot of troubling bootloops and hangs when installing new ROMs using ClockworkMod, so I'm glad to have a different recovery to try.
Thanks to all the devs who are keeping the GT-P75xx alive after Samsung has mostly abandoned us!

I've been out of pocket for a few days and it looks like the latest gapps from triptosyll are working pretty well for people. But if anyone is interested, I'm still using Formula84's since I've had good luck so far with those. Formula84 gaps are available on Goo at http://goo.im/devs/Formula84/gapps-jb-20121012-4.1.2-JZO54K.
I install:
gapps-jb-20121012-JZO54K-Formula84.zip
gapps-addon-JZO54K-Newer_Then_Market.zip
gapps-addon-JZO54K-Picasa-Sync.zip
Note that these are 4.1.2 gapps with a few items from 4.2: gesture keyboard, 4.2 Gmail. But it doesn't have the 4.2 camera (no photosphere). Read the thread for the deets. The development thread for is on RootzWiki: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31532-gapps-412-485486-jzo54k-gapps-package-1012/
Everything I've tried has been working fine. I'm now running the Nov-12 build from triptosyll's OP with these gapps.
This thread is for discussing aosp roms, like Slim, Carbon, etc. except for CM though since it has its own thread. This is meant to keep the unhelping chit-chatter out of the development threads where bug reports best reside. When posting here, clarify what aosp rom you're on. Do not post bug reports here, post them in their respective development threads!
One more thing! While this thread progresses, use search and/or read the faq to see if your question has already been posted before, to avoid repetitiveness and us older lads becoming grumpy.
F.A.Q: (frequently asked questions)
I would like to dualboot, what should I do?
Flash siyah kernel
Help! I flashed siyah and now my rom doesn't boot!
It's because whatever rom you use has a newer mali driver which most kernels aren't updated for. Especially siyah which hasn't seen some dev love in ages.
What rom should I flash?
We don't know, you have to try them out yourself!
What's gapps, and is this inside xx rom?
Gapps is short for google apps, which is the Play store and some other apps you sorely need. Go too http://goo.im/gapps and download the gapps package for whatever version you have. Newer aosp roms are most certainly 4.2.2. Some roms, like Slim, have their own separate gapps packages specially made for those roms. In those cases, the standard gapps from goo.im will not work!
Help! I flashed xx rom but now it doesn't boot!
Try making a factory reset in the recovery and reflash whatever rom you were on. Also, in most cases, CWM works better for rom installations. Twrp craps out for unknown reasons.
Help! I wiped data and reflashed the rom but it still doesn't boot!
That sounds like a rom issue. Try flashing an earlier version of the rom.
Help! Something screwed up and now my phone doesn't boot anymore!
Well, reboot into recovery and see if a reflash helps. It is always recommended to regularly keep your system backed up in case something nasty happens. Perform a nandroid backup every once in a while.
What is a nandroid backup?
It's like a screenshot of your current state which you can return to if something bad happens. A nandroid backup backs up the system, boot (kernel) and data and, if specified/selectable, it also backs up cache and recovery. Maybe even efs (in twrp). However, it doesn't back up the modem!
I flashed xx kernel and I now get a black screen upon reboot!
That is because the rom you flashed has the new mali driver from the 4.2.1 leak and the kernel you flashed isn't updated with this driver. Stay on the provided kernel for now.
Thanks to:
I forgot to give thanks where due, and I'm so sorry for that. If I got an advice from you, hit me up and your name goes on this list.
C_tho; for mentioning the mali driver stuff.
Noble Sir Slaphead20; for suggesting I'd maintain an FAQ and suggesting I'd make an entry covering gapps.

Only Siyah, and Siyah only supports the older aosp roms.
Speaking of aosp, I just had an urge to flash Carbon. Think I'll do it, because I'm a bit bored of running touchwiz and I've run CM for so long I need change. I didn't like RootBox that much (too many settings, lol. I like a "leaner" setup) and there's no official aokp for our device. I also didn't like Slim, so I'll give Carbon another go.

I updated the op with a small faq. More to come in the following days.
In the Faqs it might be worth mentioning in the gapps bit that some Roms ie slim, have their own gapps, and others won't work
Just flashed Carbon 1.5, not regretting it thus far! This ROM gives the word buttery smooth a whole new meaning!

Not sure this goes here, but ill give it a go anyways.
In the Slimbean thread there was a lot of talk about mali drivers. Now could someone please give me some info on the matter cause seems like I missed something.
Basicly what im wondering is whats up with the mali drivers and why do I want them?
Sorry if this is off-topic or has been answered somewhere else.

The only problem with SuperNexus is it is updated very slowly. Also Faryaab has exams to do now, so it will not get updated at least until he is done with them.
If you want a super light rom I would reccomend SlimBean it's fast, and light, battery is acceptable, and it's easy to change settings like screen density and navbar settings without having to edit build.prop and decompile framework-res.apk, which you will have to do on SuperNexus.
what about the smoothness of it?
Another one there to vouch for Carbon, running it on both phone and tablet

Maybe, but to be honest I am yet to be convinced as to how much I would benefit from a custom ROM. I scared myself after tripping the KNOX Counter without being aware of it. I currently have it rooted for a few apps only (Titanium and so on).
Plus seems ClockworkMOD Recovery isn't available for my N9005 (thats the message i get when trying to install it). TWERP not working despite ROM Manager stating it is installed. AND therefore....(are you still there?) I can't currently boot into a custom recovery mode anyway.

How presumptuous...
Far from being lazy, I am actually an extremely busy health care professional with a huge caseload of patients. I am not afforded the time that you might have in your job (presuming that you're working and not peeling stickers off your skateboard that is).
I took a rare lunch-break and thought I would ask a question. If that upset you maybe I should book you in with a colleague for some help?
Anyway, back to work - or your PlayStation maybe(?).
Thanks for your input, it was massively unhelpful, I'd appreciate it if you refrained from commenting on any of my future posts.....including this one. I doubt whether you'll be able to help yourself though....:fingers-crossed:

Yes, there is. You can fin it in the Original Android Development section. The maintainer is AntaresOne. He has 2 versions. One is the official nighlies and the other is an optimized version.
You can go for either one or, you can choose one of the other roms based on CM12 or CM12.1.

He just not prepared to do your work for you. Your op was incredibly lazy. You could have saved time by just looking first, either on cm website or in the development sections in this forum

Just to clarify, you don't know how to type 'CyanogenMod' into a Google search bar but are competent at flashing ROMs?

My next thread would be to get help for flashing a ROM.
Why would you create a thread? There's hundreds for that exact thing already..I think some reading may be in order

It's because this forum is not a helpdesk. It takes 1 second to type "Cyanogenmod I9505" in Google or in the xda searchbar. Most developers don't like these kind of people in their rom threads but it lowers the quality of discussion dramatically.
It's the same for the question you asked in the CM optimized topic. It's not a helpdesk and it has nothing to do with that particularly rom. You can easily test which rom is more stable for you by flashing it.

My first rom was the 5.0.1 GPE rom, then tried CM12 Optimized builds, SaberMod CM12 and 12.1 builds and I am now currently running Resurrection Remix rom.
The most stable from the bunch (for me) was the GPE rom. The fastest and smoothest (for me) seems to be Resurrection Remix.
All of them ran stable for me, with no bugs or serious problems that could not be solved.
CM12 has reached a final version. The developer works on 12.1 now. CM12.1 nighlies is the most updated of the bunch.
Now, for the flashing. Before flashng you might want to backup your stuff. This requires root. You can use CF-Auto-Root to do it. Warning: This will trip knox.
Just google search "root s4 cf auto root" and follow the instructions in the thread. CF-Auto-Root does not work with all s4 variants, so make sure you have the right one.
If you don't want to backup anything, then you can just skip to installing a custom recovery.
There are 3 to choose from: CWM, TWRP or PhilZ Touch recovery.
I use TWRP. You should be able to flash it with Odin. Google on how to flash a custom recovery on the s4. Even if they are for different android versions, it's basically the same process.

Use it with KT Kernel. It gives you lots of customizability. You may have a green tinting at first, but this can be easily fixed. Settings > Display > LiveDisplay > Color Calibration and set all values there to 50% and hit Ok. Then just change the brightness so the changes take effect. Otherwise you will have to reboot.
Or you can use it with the default kernel.
