Hi everyone,
I have just recently rooted my Asus Transformer Pad 300 (TF300T) running JellyBean 4.1 following a TF300T rooting guide on DotTech.
Then I have wanted to do a NAND backup of my tablet using 3 methods with all 3 failing :
1. Through Clockwork Mod version 6.0.2.3 > backup and restore > backup
2. Through Clockwork Mod version 6.0.2.3 > backup and restore > backup to internal sdcard
both show me the size of the SD card then start saying "Backing up boot image..." and then is stuck there while I can move around the menus with the volume buttons and select with the power button. I have tried mounting my SD card beforehand with the mount option in CWM's main menu.
3. Using ROM Manager > Backup Current ROM
which takes me into CWM and then shows the error "Error backing up boot image!" along with "/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log" ; "Please open ROM Manager to report the issue". If you wish, I have attached the recovery log.
I have tried reformatting my SD card to FAT32 to no avail.
I thank you in advance for your help!

TWRP IS A Good choice. I've used CWM on my phones in the past and its always worked well for me. After having issues with CWM on my tablet, I flashed TWRP and now I wish it was available for my phone. Its faster and the UI is much better.

I have tried during my tests different test images supposedly to be Clockwork Mod and some didn't work at all as I wasn't able to enter recovery. However, I always had my bootloader so I could simply get back into fastboot and reflash my old working CWM.
However, I do not know if this is because the "other" CWMs were harmless enough or if it's always that way.

Hi fellow Android lovers
I'm still not sure how to make a proper backup of my completely stock A500 (HC 3.0.1).
My plan is:
1. Root with Gingerbreak
2. Install Acer Recovery Installer App
3. Backup my Recovery with the app
4. Install CWM with the app
5. Make a Backup with CWM
Is this a good/correct way to make a backup ?
What would be the best way ?
Thanks a lot for any useful input

Yes. This is EXACTLY what you should do but with a step 6 added.
Make a copy of your shiney new backups to seperate storage, such as your PC.
Cool ...
Thanks for answering.
Of cause I will safely store that backup on my PC.

I have rooted the device and installed the Acer Recovery app. Where's the backup function ? I can do the restore but how do I backup the device and cw install?
thanks,
you have to reboot into clockwork mod . Recovery .. then in there you can choose backup/recovery
Another thing to try and remember, if/when Acer Recovery updates with a new version of CWM - when you are putting this version on your device and updating recover, don't backup - it will overwrite your "stock" recovery backup with the previous CWM backup (which is likely not really needed with the new version of CWM) - leaving your only way back the final Acer Recovery option of "use stock <whatever version is included with that version of Acer recovery but may not match your recovery version>"
Learned that the hard way

I can, however, confirm that the stock recovery they have still works in all versions of 3.1. Just ran into that with the 4.010.13 update.

Hello, can you guys help me with the following issue:
I have TF101, it was rooted a while ago with Razoclaw APK and CWM recovery was also done with a help of APK recoveryinstaller.
During my usage, I also experienced the loopboot to recovery and I solved it with the trick in terminal on TF101 itself - echo echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0 ( I also installed the new recovery via ROM Manager)
Now yesterday, I installed the new recovery via ROM manager and tried to reboot to recovery via ROM manager and it worked for the first time!
Before that I had to use the "Reboot2recovery" app.
next't I also Installed the touch recovery via ROM Manager and now.....
....the only think I can do is power button + vol down and then cold boot - if I reboot of power off.
Nothing else works!
So how can I re-enable the CWM recovery the easy way ( like using aome commands in Termi al as ROOT) since I would luke to avoid the ADB USB stuff
help, please ! i would like to update my AOPK rom to build 31

WOW!
I was literally a second away from clicking the flash recovery button in Rom Manager when I saw this thread on my computer. Do you think it's the new recovery, Rom Manager, or just the tablet that caused it. This has me worried. I really want to install CWM Touch today. Does anybody else have this problem on their tablet?

Use RecoveryInstaller to install CWM recovery.
After that use that CWM to flash the touch version by Roach2010.
Koush keep saying he has fixed the CWM in ROM Manager but I keep seeing peoples

Not quite What I was looking for.

Thanks for your feedback. Do you know if anyone has flashed the new 5.8.2.1 that just came out a couple days ago? If they did do you know if they had any problems? I know it was the 5.5.0.4 they were having problems with and I haven't heard anything about the 5.8.2.1.

Download one of the good cwm version, either by roach2010 or Team Rouge.
Boot into recovery and flash the good cwm version.
Do NOT choose Reboot system but do a cold reboot
Once you're in the os, use terminal to run the same script you posted above.
After that reboot
Well....it won't boot into recovery. The only thing I can do is - when powering off the TF101 or rebooting - is cold boot. So if I want to get to OS, I have to press and hold power button + vol down, wait and then choose to boot to Linux. This is all I can really do.
So I can not boot in to CWM recovery anymore and recoveryinstaller doesn't help and script from above also not.....

Exact same problem here. Just happened for no reason. I just tried to boot to recovery and it boots up, when I click the vol+ button nothing happens, it's completely stuck, so then have to go through it all again and cold boot linux. Any ideas guys please? I have just down loaded ADB but have never used it before. I really want to update my rom, I suspect its something to do with a megatron update I just downloaded but have not applied yet. I know that sounds silly but as soon as I downloaded that update and said yes to reboot in to recovery that's when it all went sideways.lol
Thanks
I can not even re boot normally back to my OS now. I have to cold boot to linux every time. Like I say guys, Any wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks
Help. I was trying to install Cyanogen on my Asus TF300T and deleted all files from my internal memory and SD Card. Now I obviously cannot reboot because there is nothing installed on tablet. Seems that you are on the last TWRP. This problem is known to some other user and me, too.
I was only able to fix it with wiping everything: You have done that already
Then flashing the latest stock.
DL the stock, unzip it one time you know have a zip called: WW_epad-user-10.4.2.13
Go to this thread and dl the adb pusher
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599332
extracted it and open the Quick ADB Pusher v0.4.1 exe
If you are in TWRP you should seen a number next to select device. Your Pad is in adb mode
click the second browse button from top. Here you can choose the destination folder on your Pad. Choose sdcard
Now drag and drop the WW_epad-user-10.4.2.13.zip on the top empty space under drag and drop
Now push the send button. This should take some time. Once you read file send succesful you have the file on your sd.
Now just flash the stock rom. This should fix all of your problems and you should be up to stock with stock recovery.
So after rebooting and going into stock system Just put all needed files back to internal storage.
Then switch of the pad and switch it back on with Vol- and power and you should be able to go to fastboot again.
Flash the older TWRP via fastboot. Reboot via fastboot while holding Vol- and go back to recovery.
Now you should be able to flash your desired Rom again I hope
and @mikaole is the winner
faster than me
Well, one should note that after installing the Jelly Bean stock ROM there's no way to install Cyanogenmod because of the incompatible bootloader...

so, did it work?
Hi,
i'm trying to make a rom backup with cwm recovery.
but it failed, because cwm try to backup the rom on the sd (that i haven't) and if I choose to backup to internal memory, the task remains on 'backuping boot image....' and does not continue.
How can i proceed?
flash TWRP, CWM is causing many problems (did also for me, I ended up with a corrupt flash in CWM and since I flashed TWRP I had no such problems at all!)
thanks...
can you link me this recovery? i have 4.1.1
Go here,2nd post....

Do a nandroid backup. You don't need to have root for that.
| Mobile Message
CWM
Backup:
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Select "backup and restore"
3. Select "backup" or "backup to external sdcard" depending on where you want your backup saved (recommended to keep at least one backup, preferably stock, on the internal sdcard in case of external sdcard malfunction)
4. Select "Reboot now" to reboot the phone
*note: the backup can be found in the "clockworkmod" folder (either on internal sdcard or external depending on chosen save location) where you can rename the backup to something you will remember rather then a series of numbers. DO NOT INCLUDE SPACES WHEN RENAMING! including spaces in the backup name will cause you to get the MD5-mismatch error when trying to restore the backup at a later time*
TWRP
1. power phone off
2. boot into recovery by holding the home + volume up + power; when phone vibrates release the POWER button only and continue holding home and volume up till recovery screen loads
3. Select backup
4 select back to "external sd card" or "backup
5. enable compression and change name of your backup if you like (gives you smaller backup sizes)
6. swipe the arrow bar and let the backup process run

Hi ,
A nandroid does not take the recovery into consideration.
So, you will still get a "Stock " image when you make a nandroid.
